~ Charmander |
Charmander was the main protagonist and later posthumous protagonist of the Shippiddge's Starter Squad series following Episode 9.
While he was the main protagonist of the series, Charmander does several questionable things such as murder, arson and acts like a dictator through most of the series, making several viewers consider him a evil character, while others see him an Anti-Hero.
Personality[]
At the start of the series, Charmander was arrogant, he believed he was the best starter and that Squirtle and Bulbasaur were trash, while also constantly harassing them and acting like they are his battle tools. He had a extreme hatred for Red for not choosing him, going as far as killing him.
Charmander lacks empathy and will do anything in order to achieve his goals or help his partners, even if that means killing innocents. He is also a "rule breaker" as he hated most of the Pokemon game rules such as "one turn per pokemon" or "one vs one" and always broke them in order to win.
Later, he learned empathy and started treating Squirtle and Bulbasaur as friends and respecting them, but was still lacking empathy for the others. After Squirtle decided to play fair and not break the rules, Charmander became arrogant again and started hating him.
After Squirtle was kidnapped he started to get angry at everyone but still tried to save him, showing that, besides his arrogance, he still cares about him.
History[]
Start[]
The story starts with Red indecisive if he should choose Charmander, Bulbasaur or Squirtle. Charmander does his best to be noticed, but Red takes Squirtle and goes away with him to his journey.
Charmander and Bulbasaur are then released to be wild, where they start their own journey without a trainer. While walking, Charmander finds a Caterpie, which he murders in order to get some extra Exp. Bulbasaur tries wearing Caterpie's Head as a hat, but Charmander throws it away.
After walking for a while, Bulbasaur and Charmander find themselfs in Veridian City. Bulbasaur tries asking people where they are, but he understands nothing since humans are only able to say the word "Human". Charmander ends up reencountering with Red. Red tries to capture Charmander and sends Squirtle. Squirtle makes fun of Charmander, but gets easily defeated and returns to the Pokeball. Red then captures Bulbasaur and tries using him against Charmander, but Bulbasaur refuses to battle. Charmander then defeats Bulbasaur and murders Red with his fire powers.
After killing Red, Charmander explains to Squirtle and Bulbasaur that he is officially their new trainer since he has their Pokeballs. Squirtle questions him, but Charmander ignores it and starts his new villainous journey with Squirtle and Bulbasaur, soon after Charmander was killed by Caterpie trying to rescue Squirtle, but Squirtle backstabbed him leaving him to die. Charmander's head was on Caterpies head using it as a hat victoriously.
After his death, in the music video taking place between Episode 9 and 10, Charmander is now a spirit. He sings about the time he used to roam and expresses that he very much enjoys being portrayed as an evil lizard and revels in his atrocities, thus showing no hints of regrets towards his actions, only towards the fact that he's already dead and; therefore, no one fears him anymore. Judging from the lyrics, he views Squirtle as a betrayer, thus seemingly resenting someone who he thought to be his trusted "friend." At the end, he's turned into a Gastly by Gengar for "not singing good enough" and is sarcastically asked by Gengar if he wants to try again, to which Charmander, now a Gastly, only utters a "Blah!"
