“ | Hi! Chet Shaft, Games On A Shelf manager. | „ |
~ Chet Shaft introduces himself to Scott. |
“ | You think you know how to run a business? I know a guy with a NASA shirt, okay? I EARNED this job! | „ |
~ Chet's most famous quote. |
Chet Shaft, later known as the Ghost of Christmas Shaft, is a major character as well as the central antagonist of the comedy web series Scott The Woz.
He is the deuteragonist/main antagonist of Game Stores and It's A Bargain Bin Christmas, the posthumous overarching protagonist of The Great Mysteries Of Gaming, a cameo character in Memory Cards, and a major character in Gaming Gifts. He is the former manager of Games On A Shelf and former boss of Scott Wozniak.
During the events of The Great Mysteries Of Gaming, he was murdered by Officer Steel Wool for money laundering, and became a ghost, where he decided to help Scott see the error of his ways in giving his friends bargain bin games.
He is portrayed by Will Kanwischer.
History[]
Background[]
Chet is known to have a long history with most of Scott's friends, such as being a former member of Vegans Anonymous, alongside Jeb Jab and Terry Lesler, before betraying them by buying milk and stealing a baconator from Wendy's. He was also busted for money laundering by Officer Steel Wool.
Game Stores[]
Chet first appears at Games On A Shelf when Scott enters the store. Chet asks if Scott is into all types of games, to which Scott, after thinking about all the games he didn't care about the previous two years, replies by saying he likes the Wii, to which Chet hires him. During his time working at the store, Scott is constantly manipulated by Chet into doing things like pushing their membership program, forcing him to lie on his manager evaluation sheet, and making him talk nonstop about pre-orders to customers. By the end of the video, Games On A Shelf runs out of business due to a new shop (which is actually for rent), resulting in both Scott and Chet becoming unemployed, despite Scott's suggestion of taking cigarette trade-ins.
The Great Mysteries Of Gaming[]
While rummaging through his closet for answers to gaming's greatest mysteries, Scott finds an invitation to a dinner hosted by Chet Shaft for "making it this far in life". Believing this to be an apology for lashing out at him for his cigarette trade-ins suggestion, Scott decides to attends the dinner, where he meets every person Chet has wronged, as well as Rex Mohs, who is chaperoning the dinner. Chet himself is unable to attend the dinner due to prior obligations, so he contacts them through his television. However, Chet is murdered by Steel Wool for money laundering, who proceeds to kill every other attendee, only to be defeated by Scott.
It's A Bargain Bin Christmas[]
After Scott has a falling out with his friends, who are recovering from their murders, for giving them bargain bin games, he encounters Chet's ghost, who helps him see the error of his ways by telling him that he was only helping them out of self-profit. He also shows him how he actually helped someone by donating them his desk just to organise the event for his friends. After Scott reconciles with them, he goes back home to find a new desk sent to him by Chet and Vince Young.
Memory Cards[]
Chet Shaft makes a cameo near the end of this episode when, after Scott mentions how memory cards might be "back in business", his and Officer Steel Wool's hands burst out of their respective graves.
Trivia[]
- Chet is one of the few Scott The Woz characters to die, since he is now a ghost. However, this might be reversed, judging by the end of Memory Cards.
- According to his Games On A Shelf name tag, Chet is a doctor.
