Chet Spooks is the secondary antagonist of the Melvin's Macabre video GHOST HUNTERS. He is a self-proclaimed "ghost hunter" and YouTuber who attempts at filming himself hunting down ghosts for his content.
Appearance[]
Chet Spooks is a bulky human being who wears, a dark blue shirt, grey pants, black military boots, and a belt with a skull engraved on the metal plate. His face is in the shape of a cross, with large ears, many piercings on his left eyebrow, lower lip, and left ear, spiked black hair (with many of them being in the shapes of crosses), and a cross earring on his right ear.
Personality[]
Chet is a extremely selfish, and unempathetic character. He is driven primarily by self-interest, prioritizing his YouTube content over the safety and well-being of those around him. Despite knowing the dangers posed by the demon Bob and his grandmother's warnings, he refuses to close the box because he’s more focused on capturing footage for his channel. He values his personal gain and fame over everyone else's safety.
He is also insensitive and callous, this is shown when he fake reacts to his grandmother's death to create content for his video. Instead of mourning or expressing genuine concern, he sees the event as an opportunity to enhance his YouTube channel, revealing a lack of empathy and an emotionally shallow personality.
Chet is also arrogant and reckless, which is shown by his decision to continue summoning spirits and interacting with the demon despite the obvious dangers. His arrogance in thinking he can control the situation for his benefit leads to him being possessed by the demon Bob. His recklessness not only puts himself in danger but also risks the lives of Melvin, Spider, and others, all because he underestimates the threat in pursuit of content.
In the end, after being possessed and accidentally injuring himself, Chet’s bravado and arrogance crumble. He cries for help and calls out for his grandmother, revealing his vulnerability and lack of resilience when he is no longer in control. Which shows that ultimately Chet is an utter coward.
Biography[]
Chet Spooks originally went over to his grandma, Barbra "Babs" Spooks' house with his cameraman/lackey, Spider to use her box to summon a ghost for his YouTube content. (and locks up the front door until sunrise additionally) However, he finds out that Babs would disallow him from recording his video due to her already having Melvin as a visitor over at the house. However, Chet decides to still record despite her rules, and intimidates and coerces Melvin into not snitching to Babs about his recording.
After being seated, Chet coughs at Melvin explaining about losing a friend, while Babs begins inviting the spirits over. Chet immediately notices a demon named Bob in the room after Babs note about not leaving the box open for a while, and grabs the EMF reader and the camera to find the demon right next to Melvin. When the demon kills Babs, Chet fake acts being mortified over her death for his content, and Melvin proposes to close the box to prevent the spirits from harming them. However, Chet acts too greedy and self-centered to reject Melvin, claiming that they need to capture footage for his channel, and forces him to find the ghost as he throws his duffle bag at Melvin.
During recording himself, Melvin runs past screaming as Chet whines about the former ruining his take, and he and Spider hear a door open behind them and enter. Here Chet uses an EVP recording to pick up audio of the demon eating his grandpa, which he eventually notices in the corner. He takes a picture of it that provokes Bob into possessing him.
The now demon-possessed Chet promptly chases Spider into the attic where Melvin is and grabs another ghost, which is revealed to be Barry, Melvin's friend. Melvin yells at possessed Chet to let go, as he is about to eat Barry and then eat his and Spider's souls next. However the two fight at him and with some help from Barry, possessed Chet lunges at Melvin, but accidentally crashes through the window, as the demon stops possessing him. Chet then promptly hits the ground and breaks all of his bones.
After Bob and Barry go back into the box, Chet starts to moan in pain as Spider stands up to his former partner, and he then cries in defeat as he calls for Babs. Considering that no one cared to help him, it can be presumed that Chet Spooks eventually succumbed to his injuries and passed on.
