Chica the Chicken is a major antagonist in the The Return to Freddy's series.

She appears as a major antagonist in The Return to Freddy's, The Return to Freddy's 2, and The Return to Freddy's 3, a posthumous antagonist in The Return to Freddy's 4 and a supporting antagonist in The Return to Freddy's: The Dreadful Truth.

She is an animatronic chicken created by Fazbear Incorporated. Despite being a happy, fun-loving performer during the day, Chica contains a fragment of Lockjaw's soul which causes her aggressive behavior during the night.

Appearance[]

The Return to Freddy's 1 & 2[]

Chica is a yellow animatronic chicken with a bright orange beak, purple eyes, orange feet and white toes, although they can appear yellow in depending on the lighting. Her had is much more circular than the other animatronics and has three tuffs of "hair" on top. Chica can often be seen holding a pink cupcake with mechanical eyes and a singular candle on a plate.

When Chica goes on the prowl in the original game, she begins to tear herself apart, creating numerous rips and tears in her body exposing her endoskeleton. Both of her hands are ripped off with several wires hanging out from the forearm the hands were attached to. Her jaw is also significantly separated from her head, as well as being broken.

The Return to Freddy's 3[]

Chica's body is heavily damaged, withered and covered in holes. Her torso is much larger than it was in the previous games and her body appears to be largely burnt, giving it a green-ish texture. Both of her endoskeleton hands are exposed.

Backstory[]

Chica was built in 1985 to be an entertainer of the newly opened Fredbear's Family Diner alongside her other animatronic companions.

In September of 1987, an unnamed child known as "BFP" was murdered by the diner's founder and owner, Vincent, and skewered inside one of the spare suits. Enraged, BFP fragmented his soul and placed the scattered parts inside the animatronics, making them aggressive.

The Return to Freddy's[]

Chica will first become active on Night 1 and start on the Show Stage with Freddy and Bonnie.

When Chica makes her way to the Office, unlike the her canon counterpart once she goes from the Show Stage to the Dining Area, Restroom and East Hall, Chica will crawl into the Ceiling Vent and drop down into the Office unexpectedly. When she does, the player will have to throw on the Freddy mask to get her to go away, otherwise she'll jumpscare and kill the player.

When Chica moves into the East Hall, she begins to tear herself apart, becoming withered and damaged.

The Return to Freddy's 2[]

After being embowed with a fragment of BFP's soul, Chica becomes extremely aggressive and starts attacking security guards.

Chica starts on the Show Stage with Freddy and Bonnie, and becomes active on Night 1. When she goes on the hunt for security guards, she replaces Bonnie's behavior from the original Five Nights at Freddy's, being the first animatronic to activate before moving to Party Room 1 and the Office hallway. Once she appears outside the Office the player has to throw on the Freddy mask in order to get her to go away, otherwise she'll kill the player.

The Return to Freddy's 3[]

After being found by a few teenagers in the abandoned location from the first game, Chica, still powered by BFP's soul fragment, goes on the hunt one more time.

Chica is one of the least active animatronics as she only sticks to two different cameras, CAM 06 and CAM 03 respectively. Once she's moved from CAM 03 she'll appear in the west hallway near the Office, prompting the player to have to activate the signal corrupt option on the system panel, forcing her to go away, otherwise she'll jumpscare the player.

Chica is finally destroyed when Fazbear Fantasy Land is demolished, destroying the animatronics and releasing BFP's soul and the fragments he left behind.

Trivia[]

If Chica remains on the Show Stage when Freddy leaves in The Return to Freddy's, her hand will be missing, likely due to a cropping/editing error.
In The Return to Freddy's 2, Chica's signature cupcake is noticeably missing, meaning it likely didn't exist in-universe during the time Fredbear's Family Diner was open.
Her model in the alpha version of The Return to Freddy's 2 has a broken jaw.
Alongside Foxy, Chica doesn't have a showbiz animatronic counterpart in The Return to Freddy's 4.
