“ | Here's the deal. Twenty-two campers have been 'chosen' to spend eight weeks right here at this crappy old summer camp. They will compete in challenges against other teens, and will have to face judgement by their fellow campers in the event that they lose. After each challenge, one team will either win a reward, or watch one of their teammates leave; them, Total Drama Island and the Land of the Living, for good. | „ |
~ Chris McLean giving the intro to Total Drama Island. |
Chris McLean is the main antagonist of Knifez's Total Drama fanfic, Despair Island. Following the plot of the first season, while incorporating elements and characters from seasons 2 and 3, Despair Island is a deadly game where each of the campers are killed off during the elimination ceremonies. The mastermind behind this series, Chris, abducts 24 teenagers into participating in this deadly game with the only prize at the end of the season being their lives. While his original counterpart might not have any redeeming qualities per se, especially in the later seasons, this version of Chris often enjoyed the misery of the campers and was even more sadistic as a result.
Personality[]
His personality varies completely from his canon counterpart. While the original version is sadistic, he still has a soft side and genuinely cares about some of the competitors. The same cannot be said for this version, who is known to ridicule the competitors, make light of their deaths and even attempt to joke around about some of their deaths (such as Cody or Tyler). Even when it seems that he does care, such as when he gives DJ a quick death, it is only an act, since he will usually go back to tormenting the others immediately.
It is shown that he does not care about any other people either. Despite the fact that he does treat the interns with more respect then the campers, even sharing his past with them, he shows that he does not care what happens to them, most notably when he warns his closest intern, Taennyr, to be thankful that he is not on the show, or it would be a lot worse for him. He also does not care for Jonathan Garvolic, since he attempts to rat him out before being killed by Zolkoff. He has no problems with killing other people either, since he attempted to burn Alejandro's family to death. Overall, he has absolutely no appreciation for human life, not caring who he has to kill to get rich.
Despite this, he is a bit of a coward, freaking out when Katie gives him a glancing blow. He is also a bit of a narcissist, almost giving the Killer Bass the win in the first challenge because of their bust to him and skewing the results of the talent contest whenever someone sucked up to him. Overall, he is a nasty, narcissistic, sadistic person who has no value for human life and does not care about anyone else.
Villainous Acts[]
- He created a show where the contestants are killed off and pitched the series to Jonathan Gavrilovic, a corrupt Canadian politician.
- Chris forces the parents of the teenagers he abducts to sign wavers that say that Chris is legally allowed to kidnap them.
- Every episode, he murders a camper from the losing team while forcing the other campers to watch. (MORAL EVENT HORIZON)
- In the mess hall, Chris keeps a gallery of all the Campers who have been killed after each challenge. A digital image would switch from an image of the camper alive to them dead.
- While in the original series Chris was already a sadist, here he takes joy every time gets to watch a camper die and gets angry whenever they die during the challenges instead of during the eliminations.
- When Chris abducts Alejandro, he attempts to murder his father, mother and brother by burning down his home.
- When Harold tried to escape from the Island when Duncan’s father came to the rescue, Chris gunned him down.
- He negotiated with Jonathan Gavrilovic for a second season.
- When he was arrested and found out that Jonathan lied to him, he attempted to rat Jonathan out.
