Lee Ye-Jun (이예준), better known as ChulGu (철구), or the Crazy Korean Guy is the main protagonist of the Insane Korean People series made by Muraryuen, formerly known as Progaben, appearing in all seven parts.
He is a SOOP (formerly known as AfreecaTV) streamer that originates from South Korea and making content that revolves around him screaming or pouring flour/milk/soy sauce all over his face or crotch. He also lives what is supposedly his girlfriend turned wife. At times, he also collaborates with the Angry Korean Gamer. He is based off of the streamer of the same name.
Roles[]
He is the main protagonist of Insane Korean People Parts 1, 3 and 6, one of the two main protagonists (alongside BJLoanShark) of Part 2, the deuteragonist of Parts 4 and 5 and the opening protagonist of Part 7.
His Spicy Mukbang Guy version serves as a cameo character.
Personality[]
ChulGu is prone to mess and screams a lot at times with his supersonic screaming ability. He is also willing to harass his unseen neighbours and his roommate (possibly his girlfriend) by screaming, pouring himself with soy sauce, throwing stuff, or shouting the words to The Cross's Don't Cry while opening the window wide-open.
Like the Angry Korean Gamer, he is short-fused, as he punches a monitor for losing a game while the Angry Korean Gamer mocks him. Whenever the Korean Gamer loses, however, he is willing to mock the Korean Gamer when he loses and boasts about it, which causes him to get kicked by the angry gamer.
Despite being roommates with his possible girlfriend, he harasses her in the streams, although it is unknown if they get along together offscreen. His harassment is so bad to the point where her girlfriend wants to leave South Korea. His screams are so loud to the point he indirectly causes a hazard called "Ultra Hysteria Tantrum Paroxysm Scream", shortened to "UHTPS", which causes instant death to ears. He is also willing to do something for requests from fans, such as throwing his chair to the window, to which the latter was sentient, as the window was begging ChulGu not to kill it.
He also screams in public at times, such as shouting in a store or a food court, which makes him obnoxious and a maniac in public. He also doesn't show any seriousness towards other people, except for the scene where he quickly turns the blind down whenever he finishes singing Don't Cry.
Biography[]
Insane Korean People Part 1[]
ChulGu is first seen playing StarCraft on his PC and when he wins the game, he lets out his supersonic scream in joy, while also doing a victory dance. He then proceeds to pour in soy sauce in top of his hair to celebrate. The next clip has him playing StarCraft again and once again screams while playing the game. He then mocks the other players and saying he is the "best player". He then looks at the chat after finishing the game and screams once he sees one of the chats and when he screams for the second time, he takes off his sunglasses.
He is then seen covered in cocaine (flour in reality), screams while holding the camera and snorts the cocaine. He then takes his headphones off and screams in anger. As a result, he dashes to his bedroom wall and falcon punches it 999 times before returning to his gaming desk to rip his shirt off. Next, he pours expired milk all over his face and screams in agony while doing so. He then shouts that the milk is sticking his face but not after saying it is delicious. He then pours flour all over his face while shouting out hysteria and pours milk in next and says it isn't expired milk. He then turns around in his swivel chair and asking help for his senpai, to which his senpai ignores him, replying, "No s**t". As he shouts, he beats his chest like Donkey Kong. Then, he pours soy sauce from his hair, which drips to his pants and pretends to be a zombie and saying he is bleeding. After some flour-pouring montages, he decides to spray air freshener (which is actually a bug sprayer) all over him, while shouting in agony.
He then drinks expired coffee as a challenge while also stuffing rice cake, only to cough nonstop and spitting out some of the coffee. Next, he sings Don't Cry by The Cross for the first time and just before he shouts, he quickly opens his window and lets out an 8-second agonizing scream and quickly shuts the window again.
Insane Korean People Part 2[]
ChulGu is seen spraying soy sauce into a large tub and then puts some in his pants, to which he screams in agony for both of these. His girlfriend then comes along and horrified what he is doing, throws stuff at him. ChulGu then showers in soy sauce and eventually dips the entire tub of soy sauce onto himself and banging himself with the tub a couple of times and throwing it in the ground. ChulGu then comes to his girlfriend and with the latter surprised, she backs away calling him a "weeaboo". She then shows the "attack" onscreen to the viewers and saying she got attacked by a "weeaboo". ChulGu then swims in soy sauce for a bit and tells the audience that he is having so much fun.
Next, he sings The Cross's Don't Cry while lifting up a chair briefly. The window, knowing what's going on, begs ChulGu not to kill him. As his screaming level gets higher the more he sings, he then prepares to grab the chair and throw it at the window twice while deafeningly screaming, causing the text to describe this as "Ultra Hysteria Tantrum Paroxysm Scream", which causes instant death to ears. ChulGu, realising what he has done, quickly closes the curtains and turns the light off in his room.
Insane Korean People Part 3[]
As soon as ChulGu is shown, he takes a deep breath and lets out dozens of deafening screams while doing some activities, such as dancing, doing gymnastics in his bed, pouring soy sauce in his pants and crushing a piece of watermelon with his own hand. ChulGu is then seen with glasses in his room, which the ground is covered in soy sauce. He does many things such as meditating, handstanding on a large bowl of soy sauce while dipping his hair in. He then pours the bowl of soy sauce into the floor, only for the soy sauce to spread everywhere in the room and he swims on soy sauce at times. The video then comes to a freeze as he goes on his computer.
Next, he is seen singing The Cross's Don't Cry and as usual he opens the window while letting out an 8-second scream and closing it immediately following the blinds being closed. He then is in another room doing other activities such as pouring soy sauce from his head, pouring milk while doing handstands and acting like a dog. Finally, he sings Don't Cry for the second time. Just before he lets out his supersonic scream, he splashes himself with water.
Insane Korean People Part 4[]
ChulGu is seen playing League of Legends with the Angry Korean Gamer and fighting a boss. However, they cannot defeat the boss at all, despite trying their best. In the first match, both of them die nearly simultaneously with ChulGu smashing his keyboard a few times. In the second match, ChulGu wins, only for him to get kicked by an enraged Shin Tae-Il, coming from another room.
He then sings Don't Cry alongside a friend and together they sing horribly. He does the same thing as usual, opening the window and screaming the words out loud.
Insane Korean People Part 5[]
ChulGu is seen playing a game with the Angry Korean Gamer spectating and taunting him losing the game. In a fit of rage, ChulGu punches the monitor, which causes the mouse to drop on the table and after 20 seconds of silence, he puts his cigarette in the Gamer's mouth and kicks him out of his room.
He is later seen laughing in public, surprising everyone around him, alongside the Angry Korean Gamer in stores, train stations and food courts. The two then do a challenge to solve everything in 10 seconds, with ChulGu doing all three activities. He succeeds in drinking cola and getting KO'ed in 10 seconds but fails doing a shower and brushing his teeth at the same time in 10 seconds.
Insane Korean People Part 6[]
The video opens up with ChulGu singing Don't Cry while screaming out in the window for 9.176 seconds. Next, he gets out a bottle of coke and "parties hard" while pouring Coke all over himself. In the next clip, he prepares to pour curry all over himself but before doing so, he is nagged by clickbait ads and Pikachu. After a while, he pours the curry all over his head and afterwards lets out a few screams of agony while his mother comes, believing that he shat himself. His mother gives him a tissue to wipe himself with and afterwards bawls in pain, while his mother says he should be ashamed of himself for doing such thing.
He sings Don't Cry again at another place and shouts at an open window for 7.207 seconds. Next, he is with a friend of his where he shouts out hundreds of random words and screaming while handstanding, to which his friend guffaws about it. Next off, he screams out a few times in his room and then moans again for his audience's entertainment. He then sings IU's Good Day while screaming the words out afterwards and letting out an 8.275-second scream.
In the next clip, he pours in curry again for the 2nd time, this time pouring it from the top of his head. Due to the pain of being burnt, he cries for his mother, much to her annoyance and ChulGu cries due to the burning temperature of the curry. He then plays StarCraft where he loses at one game and to get more improvement, he drinks some Coca-Cola, but spews most of them out and lets out a scream. After that, he says that "Egypt [is] beautiful" before continuing on with his game. Next off, he plays Harlem Shake on top of his girlfriend's bed, while shirtless, screaming recurringly and lastly pouring some water at her own girlfriend's bed, to which she is annoyed and thinking that he has drugs. Realizing he has hit a milestone, he becomes extremely excited and thanks his audience for the milestone.
He then mimics the Nom Nom song while clamping his hands, as if it is a mouth. He then sprays bug spray in his hair and due to the extreme scent of the bug spray, he screams in agony again, but it turns out he likes it by giving a thumbs up and as a result becomes intoxicated with it. Next off, he then humps a chair and pretends to moan. He then spoils milk, as if he is ejaculating. He then sings a song by Kim Kyung-ho and asks the audience if they are triggered and to let out a scream.
Then, he smashes a keyboard 36 times just to break it. He then pours milk while shouting out random stuff while his mother watches in disgust and recurringly smacks him in the body. During this Hyuna's Bubble Pop plays when he pours the milk on himself. His mother is so embarrassed that she doesn't want to live in South Korea anymore. He then cries afterwards and does some dance moves before giving up. In the final clip, he drinks an entire large coke bottle while the Mission Impossible theme plays. After drinking coke, he collapses due to the coke overwhelming him. However, it is confirmed that he is still alive, at least in an unconscious state.
Insane Korean People Part 7 (1/2)[]
It is ChulGu's birthday today and he starts his stream off with him unboxing a cake. As he looks at the chat, he is waiting for requests, such as singing Happy Birthday. However, the audience wants to put the cake on his face, much to ChulGu's reluctance. However, an ultra message from a fan of his bribes him ₩250,000 (equal to 187 USD) if he does the cake to his face. With encouragement from other ultra fans, ChulGu then ultimately decides to smash the cake on his face. He then defeats the cake after three hits but unfortunately falls back on his chair, resulting in an explosion that seemingly kills him. However, he survives and claims that it is a good way to celebrate his birthday.
Next off, he puts the camera to the kitchen where he pours milk all over himself, where he keeps repeating "dah" over 100 times and saying that he needs a shower.
Villainous Acts[]
In General[]
- When he is singing Don't Cry or other songs, he opens up his window and lets out a loud scream. While there are no people affected by the scream onscreen, it is massively implied that he disturbs his neighbors and possibly his mother or girlfriend.
- He harasses his girlfriend in some scenes, such as obsessing over her after putting soy sauce all over himself and dancing on top of her bed and eventually wetting the bed with his screams.
Part 1[]
- He taunts other players that he is the best player ever.
Part 2[]
- He annoys his girlfriend by obsessing over her and possibly the result of him pouring soy sauce all over himself, caused her girlfriend to have soy sauce stains.
- He breaks his own window for singing Don't Cry. What's worse is the fact that the window is sentient, as it has one line of dialogue, although it is possible he was unaware if the window was sentient or not.
Part 3[]
- He messes up his own room by pouring liters of soy sauce in his room, which likely took hours (if not days) to clean up.
Part 4[]
- Despite collaborating with the Angry Korean Gamer, he is shown to tease him when he wins in a game of LoL, which causes an enraged Shin Tae-Il (the Angry Gamer) kicking him.
Part 5[]
- He punches his monitor when he loses to a game after Tae-Il taunts him and afterwards he put his own smoking cigarette in his mouth, slaps him and kicked him out, although to be fair, Tae-Il deserved it, making his anger justified.
- Alongside Shin Tae-Il, he goes around Seoul harassing dozens of people with screaming and laughing.
Part 6[]
- In front of his mother, he pours milk all over himself, angering his own mother.
- He pours curry onto himself twice and calls his mother out, causing her to be angry.
- He re-enacts a real-life rape incident onscreen by humping a chair and pouring milk to make it look like he is masturbating.

Don't Cry lyrics[]
Original Version[]
그대의 눈물이 마를 때까지 (Until your tears dry up)
우리의 사랑을 볼 수 없을 테니 (You won't be able to see out love)
울지 말아요 (So please don't cry)
이제야 나는 알겠으니 (It was now that I realised)
날 사랑하던 그대는 이미 없다는 걸 (You're not here, my dear, the one that used to love me)
So you don't cry for me
세월 지나도 난 변하지 않아 (Because I won't change even if time passes)
And than I cry for you
이 밤 지나면 이젠 안녕 영원히 (When this night passes, from there, it's goodbye forever!)
그대의 아픔도 눈물도 슬픈 상처도 (Your pain and tears and even sad scars too)
내가 갖겠다던 약속들 잊지 않았기에 (I didn't forget our promises I said we would have)
울지 말아요 (So please don't cry)
이토록 사랑 하기에 (Because I love you so much)
이젠 안녕 천천히 그리고 영원히 (Now it's goodbye slowly and then forever)
So you don't cry for me
세월 지나도 난 변하지 않아 (Because I won't change even if time passes)
And than I cry for you
이 밤 지나면 이젠 안녕 영원히 (When this night passes, from there, it's goodbye... forever.)
널 사랑해 널 사랑해 영원히 (I love you x2, forever)
널 사랑해 널 사랑해
널 사랑해 언제나 영원히 (I love you x3, always and forever)
널 사랑해 널 사랑해 널 사랑해 (I love you, x3)
So you don't cry for me
ChulGu's infamous version (seen in Part 2)[]

So you don't... CRY FOR ME, HEH!
새월 지나도 변하지 않아!!!! (Because I won't change even if time passes!)
And then I cry for you
이밤 지나면 이젠 안녕!!!!!!!!! *At this point, he's about to throw the chair to the window* (When this night passes, it's goodbye!!!!)
영원히!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (FOREVER!!!!!!!!)

Trivia[]
- Although the Insane Korean People is a compilation series, ChulGu appears the most out of every single Korean, which is why he is labelled as the main protagonist.
- ChulGu appears the most in this compilation, the second being the Angry Korean Gamer, the third being BJLoanShark and the fourth being CommanderZico.
- ChulGu sings Don't Cry in almost every single compilation, with the exception being Insane Korean People Part 7 (Part 5 counts because it was used as a flashback).
- Although one could argue ChulGu in the series only appears in Parts 1-3 and 6, this is because it is hard to tell if it is ChulGu or not. However, if one can research deeply, they might know he appears in all 7 parts.
- ChulGu's girlfriend is called Jeon Ji-hye. They had a daughter together called Lee Yeon-Ji on December 16, 2014. They later married in 2016 but divorced five years later, which said divorce in 2021 was one of ChulGu and Ji-hye's (if not the) biggest controversies among fans.
- ChulGu's wife, Ji-hye is also a SOOP streamer/YouTuber. You can see her YouTube profile here.
- In Part 6 where the clip has ChulGu "raping" a chair was marked as his first controversy back in September 2012, where he cosplayed a South Korean serial rapist named Kim Gil-tae, who raped and killed a 13-year old girl back in 2010.
- In reality, when ChulGu sang Don't Cry one time, he was punished by his elderly next-door neighbor for being too loud, which supports his massive implication of disturbing the neighborhood.
- How ChulGu and the Angry Korean Gamer collaborated was through a series of YouTube videos titled ChulGu and Shin Tae-Il in the latter's now-banned channel. The series ran from late 2014 to early 2015, where it involved the two doing crazy things.
