~ Bad Cop and Clone Cop in Arbeit #2 |
Aiden Walker, better known as the Clone Cop and formerly Unit 3650, is the secondary antagonist of the Half-Life fan-game Entropy: Zero 2.
He's one of the many clones of the original Aiden Walker the Combine has produced after obtaining his genetic imprint in the first game, with the major difference that they let him keep his mental faculties, leading him to realize how the Combine was manipulating him and eventually defecting from them. Because of his origins as a clone, he's referred to as Clone Cop by fans.
Personality[]
“ | Clone Cop: They want this. They need a specialist. And when you're done, they'll throw you out. Bad Cop: Bullshit. I'm an ASSET to the Combine. |

~ Clone Cop tries to convince Bad Cop to join him. |
Like his template, Clone Cop is extremely sadistic and narcissistic, but even to larger extent given what he had gone through in Arbeit, now choosing to be a one-man army against both the Combine and Rebels. The only thing that is larger than his narcissism is his love for his daughter, Ava.
After being locked in Arbeit #1 for months, he's succumbed to nigh-insanity and, by extension, developed a greater sense of narcissism and egotism. He even calls himself a "master template" and claims that he's closer in personality to the original than any other. His narcissism is so great that after learning about the Borealis and how it could mean a potential victory for humanity against the Combine, he decided to take the ship for himself as petty leverage against the Combine for his own personal gain to see Ava again, or at the very least learn about her fate.
He has developed a very well-justified paranoia and hatred towards the Combine, claiming that they were always in his head reading each thought he had, and that they were using him and his fellow clones as expendable cannon fodder under the false promise of getting the perk to find Ava's whereabouts. He also suggests that Bad Cop's clone body was tweaked in order to not see through the lies of the Combine as he did.
It's implied that his narcissism and paranoia is so great that now he only trusts himself and extensions thereof, such as Ava and his clones: His first instinct upon seeing Bad Cop is to make him realize that the Combine are using his memories of Ava to manipulate him in order to make him turn to his side and, throughout the game, he's repeatedly shown trying to make him see the truth to no avail. In his own words, "part of [himself] thought that [he]'d understand." He even points out that he was willing to work together with Bad Cop if he saw the truth earlier on. It is only until later on in the game, where he comes to the conclusion that Bad Cop's clone body was tweaked to be more obedient, where he finally decides to kill him.
After realizing that every imprint is "fixed", and by extension every clone of his is tweaked, he starts projecting his own insecurities to Bad Cop, as he presumably sees him as a completely separate entity from himself now with this information, blaming him for signing them up to the Combine.
In stark contrast to Bad Cop, who is constantly taking things jokingly and talking, Clone Cop is noticeably quieter and more serious.
Biography[]
Past[]
Although not having one proper, he has all of the memories of the original Aiden Walker, meaning that he has, to some extent, the same backstory as him.
Clone Cop was awakened an unknown amount of time before the events of Entropy: Zero 2 took place to investigate a rebel-inhabited Arbeit Communications facility (Arbeit #1) in order to find out the whereabouts of the Borealis. However, he was quickly overwhelmed by the heavy rebel presence, ending up trapped in the inner facility. The Combine refused to give him any help, claiming that he had failed the mission, and eventually setting down a base and forming a one-sided friendship with an obsolete, defective Turret named Wilson.
At some point, he managed to overfeed one of the many Headcrab Zombies in the location, causing it to mutate into a Gonome and nearly killing him to the point that his voice vocoder was damaged. The Gonome was kept around as a "Plan B" in case of intruders.
As he discovered more and more about the facility and the Borealis, he left recordings around the facility as a journal of sorts. Eventually, he performs brain surgery on himself to remove his transpoder, saying that he doesn't want the Combine in his head, presumably after their betrayal towards him.
He discovers that the Arbeit Rebels have been keeping tabs on the Combine, making him learn that some guy named "Freeman" was raising hell in City 17, the main base of operations of the Combine. With what he knows about the Borealis, he decides to go on an operation to kill Judith Mossman.
Entropy: Zero 2[]
Clone Cop first appears in Entropy: Zero 2 on several computer screens throughout Arbeit #1, observing Bad Cop's movements as he guns down rebels occupying the place. Eventually, when the last of the surviving rebels evacuate and Bad Cop navigates the offices of the facility, Clone Cop introduces himself to Bad Cop on a projector inside of the cafeteria, where he identifies himself as another clone of Aiden Walker. As Bad Cop further navigates the offices, Clone Cop intentionally shuts off the power just to toy with Bad Cop, forcing him to go to the basement and reactivate it. When Bad Cop enters a locked security room, Clone Cop appears on the monitor and attempts to enlist Bad Cop's help against the Combine, but he refuses and asserts his undying loyalty to the Combine. Disappointed, Clone Cop activates some demolition charges underneath the linoleum floor which causes Bad Cop to fall into the inner facility of Aperture test chambers, where Wilson is waiting for him. Bad Cop listens to some of his recordings, and realizes his mission is in danger due to Clone Cop's intent to kill Judith Mossman.
Clone Cop later interrupts Bad Cop's journey to Arbeit #2 by totalling his APC with jury-rigged rollermines so that Bad Cop could deal with the rebels for him by proxy. He sneaks into Arbeit #2 to look further for the Borealis, until Bad Cop and other Combine forces invade the place and cause a massive panic. Clone Cop yet again traps Bad Cop in a security room so he could rant to him, immediately before being interrupted by Combine soldiers.
When Bad Cop finally reaches Arbeit #3, he eventually apprehends Judith Mossman and arrests her, but Clone Cop kills the other arresting Combine soldiers and tries to kill both of them with Manhacks. If Bad Cop brought Wilson along, he and Wilson have a brief awkward reunion and he questions why Bad Cop brought him as he couldn't get any use of him. Afterwards, Bad Cop and Judith escape, where Clone Cop improvises and heads straight for the Borealis. Bad Cop is then tasked by the Advisor to kill Clone Cop. The two clones eventually have a massive battle where they are repeatedly teleporting between the facility and interior of the Borealis due to time anomalies after Clone Cop tried to burn down the entire facility, and Clone Cop (and also optionally Wilson) is later mortally wounded by an explosion caused by Bad Cop. This explosion is revealed to have damaged Clone Cop's vocoder, and he radios to Bad Cop about the futility of all this as it's very apparent the Combine won't live up to their end of the bargain. After Bad Cop battles the last of the Arbeit #3 rebels and temporally travels to the Borealis' location, he finds Clone Cop completely wounded, where he chastises him for his loyalty for the Combine and Bad Cop's sudden willingness to hear him out. He asks Bad Cop to euthanize him, but if he takes too long, the Combine Advisor will simply crush him with a shipping container.
Trivia[]
- He claims he couldn't get any use out of Wilson, implying that Wilson either refused to open locked doors for him or that he simply didn't know how until the events of the main game.
