Clone Tails is a major antagonist in the Five Nights at Sonic's series.
He is an anthropomorphic fox clone created from the genetic template of the original Miles "Tails" Prower in 2015 to be an entertainment mascot for Sonic's Hero Pizza Palace. Although he appears as a seemingly friendly mascot, he becomes aggressive and murderous during the night due to the cloning device he was created from being tampered with by Dr. Eggman, attacking anyone he comes into contact with.
All of his incarnations are voiced by Resident, who also voiced Plushtails.
Appearance[]
Clone Tails appears to be a carbon copy of his original counterpart, with the exception of a hook for his right hand and an eyepatch covering his left eye. When he turns aggressive at night, Tails' eyes become black with red pupils.
His withered incarnation appears very bruised and battered with numerous cuts all over his body, and his shoes lack red stripes.
His phantom incarnation is the monochromatic version of his design from FNaS 1 with red eyes and white slits for pupils. His teeth are covering the whole entire mouth. His shoes lack the red stripes.
Nightmare Tails’ appearance appears to be darker than his original form, with his gloves being black and concealing sharp claws underneath, along with his socks being the same color of his shoes. His eyepatch is also larger and jagged and he also has a third tail, and his muzzle fur and his fur around his mouth is also sharp jagged.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Clone Tails was created in 2015, 24 years after the closure of the original Sonic's Fast Food Diner, by an obscure company hoping to revive the old brand and re-new it as Sonic's Hero Pizza Palace, as well as starring multiple new characters to perform alongside Sonic, such as as Mario and Yoshi. Tails offered to have himself cloned alongside Mario, Yoshi and a returning Sonic.
However, while they were inside the cloning machines, Dr. Eggman, who had previously worked the night shift at Sonic's Fast Food Diner and suffered from a head injury from Origin Sonic, entered the building and tampered with the cloning machines, which altered the clones' behavior during the night, turning them aggressive and homicidal.
Five Nights at Sonic's[]
Tails only appears in the Pirate Cove camera with three phases. Tails' first phase shows him encased within the curtain. However, his second phase shows Tails' peaking out from the darkness of the cove. His third phase shows him out of the cove and preparing to dash towards the Office. Once Tails leaves the cove completely the West Hall camera will malfunction, indicating that Tails is on his way. The player must close the door to prevent Tails from getting inside.
After Sonic tried and failed to kill Luigi, the location was shut down and the clones were placed in the backrooms of a new location.
Five Nights at Sonic's 2[]
Two years later at the new location, Yoshi and the rest of the clones were replaced with animatronic mascots and began to wither away, becoming decayed and bloodied, but still retaining their nightly aggression.
Tails will start in the Parts/Service Room and will immediately dash in the middle of the hallway that is located outside of the Office on occasions. To make Tails go away, the player must flash their light on him multiple times until he vanishes, otherwise he will leap at the player and kill them. Along with Luiginette, he completely ignores the mask.
After eight nights of working there, the night guard, Amy Rose, was killed by Golden Sonic. Her disappearance caused the location to shut down and the clones as well as the animatronics were fixed and shipped to a storage unit where they would be healed and remain there until 2027.
Five Nights at Sonic's 3[]
End-of-Night Minigames[]
One night, Tails woke up to find that Sonic, Mario and Yoshi weren't on the show stage like the others and wandered through the location to find him until he stumbled Mario and Yoshi's corpse in front of a room he couldn't enter. He turned to leave before suddenly being attacked by Eggman, who stabbed him in the eye with a knife, killing him.
Eventually, the spirits left their physical bodies. They eventually went to confront Eggman and discovered him alongside Sonic, who was badly beaten and bruised. Eggman commanded Salvage Sonic to attack the spirits of his friends, but Salvage Sonic instead stabbed him in the chest with his own knife, killing him.
Main Nights[]
Some time after Eggman's death, Salvage Sonic and the withered toy animatronics would be shipped to a new location, with the spirits of Mario, Yoshi and Tails following.
Phantom Tails will occasionally appear on the left side of the office. To make him go away, the player must look away from him as fast as possible and put up the monitor, otherwise he will jumpscare the player next time they look to the left side of the Office, which will give the player a ventilation error and drain some power.
During the 6th night, the location caught on fire and Salvage Sonic was crushed beneath falling debris as the building collapsed. Modern Sonic, who had been hired as the night guard, managed to escape, but unbeknownst to him, so did Salvage Sonic.
Five Nights at Sonic's 4[]
Pre-night Cutscenes[]
A year after the third Sonic's Hero Pizza Palace burned down, Salvage Sonic went back to the storage unit they were placed at previously and discovered the bodies of his friends. Determined to bring them back, he headed to the first location and discovered several cloning machines that were still intact. Using them, he created new, nightmarish bodies for his friends' spirits to possess. However, Salvage Sonic would be killed by Nightmare Golden Sonic, who was possessed by Eggman, and stuffed into the Toymare, an animatronic hybrid made by Salvage Sonic out of the remains of the toys.
After this event, the nightmare clones retrieved Salvage Sonic's body and created a new one for his spirit to inhabit; Nightmare Sonic.
Main Nights[]
Nightmare Tails resides in the cove behind the player in the Office. Occasionally, Tails will peak out of the cove, meaning that the player will have to turn around and shine the light on him to make him go back inside, otherwise he will exit the cove completely and kill the player if he is left unattended for too long.
Nightmare Tails and his friends were unable to kill Luigi, but found his hat left behind after he escaped. After Luigi informed the authorities about the clones, they were captured and restored to their original forms.

Trivia[]
- A notable error in FNaS 3 comes from Tails' minigame, as when he is killed by Eggman, his sprite gets replaced by Yoshi's death sprite.
