I'd wanna make a song for this, but your bleeding is really killing the mood.
~ Withered Yoshi after killing the player in Maniac Mania.

Yoshi is one a major antagonist in the Five Nights at Sonic's series.

She is an anthropomorphic dinosaur clone created from the genetic template of an unnamed female Yoshi in 2015 to be an entertainment mascot for Sonic's Hero Pizza Palace. Although she appears as a seemingly friendly mascot, she becomes aggressive and murderous during the night due to the cloning device she was created from being tampered with by Dr. Eggman, attacking anyone she comes into contact with.

All of her incarnations were voiced by PJDoesGames, who also voiced Toy Yoshi and the Toymare.

Appearance[]

Yoshi appears identical to her classic counterpart, with the exception of eyelashes and green bib with "LET'S EAT!" in large brown letters with a yellow star behind it. When she turns aggressive, at night her eyes become black with red pupils that bleed.

Withered Yoshi appears to be cut up and bruised, and is blood-stained. Her bib is now gray with a tear near the bottom of it. Her sharp teeth are stained with blood and her skin is darker. She also gains black eyes with red dots for pupils.

Phantom Yoshi appears identical to her original form, except for being monochromatic, burnt, and covered in gray hue. She also gains red eyes and white slits for pupils. Her bib now reads "LET'S SCARE", but the letters are in a leaking type, along with sharp claws on her left hand and sharp teeth.

Nightmare Yoshi is darker than her original appearance, with a grey bib with the words "LET'S KILL!" written in a black and scribbled-like font. Her bib is ripped near the bottom and she has sharp teeth. She also gains black eyes with red slits for irises, and her hair is more pointy-like. She has dark shoes identical to Nightmare Mario's ones, with the exception of no spikes at the bottom of them. The most noticeable feature is that she has a knife.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Clone Yoshi was created in 2015, 24 years after the closure of the original Sonic's Fast Food Diner, by an obscure company hoping to revive the old brand and re-new it as Sonic's Hero Pizza Palace, as well as starring multiple new characters to perform alongside Sonic, such as as Mario and Tails. Yoshi offered to have herself cloned alongside Mario, Tails and a returning Sonic.

However, while they were inside the cloning machines, Dr. Eggman, who had previously worked the night shift at Sonic's Fast Food Diner and suffered from a head injury from Origin Sonic, entered the building and tampered with the cloning machines, which altered the clones' behavior during the night, turning them aggressive and homicidal.

Five Nights at Sonic's[]

Alongside Mario, Yoshi is one of the first characters to become active, starting on Night 1, she'll move towards the Office through a set path. The path goes as follows.

Show Stage → Dining Area → Restrooms → Kitchen → East Hall → East Hall Corner → The Office.

Once she is near the blindspot of the door, the player must close the door to prevent her from coming in and she will leave after a while. If the player takes too long, Yoshi will jam the door, and if you use the monitor system while the door is jammed, Yoshi will attack the player.

After Sonic tried and failed to kill Luigi, the location was shut down and the clones were placed in the backrooms of a new location. During this time, for unknown reasons, Yoshi became so frustrated with Mario that she slammed his face on a stove, burning his face and melting through his flesh until his skull was visible.

Five Nights at Sonic's 2[]

Two years later at the new location, Yoshi and the rest of the clones were replaced with animatronic mascots and began to wither away, becoming decayed and bloodied, but still retaining their nightly aggression.

Withered Yoshi will start in the Parts/Service Area before heading towards the Office through the right airvent (rather than going through the middle hallway). Once Withered Yoshi appears in the Office, the player must throw on the mask until she gets away from the office. If the player denies to use the mask in time, Withered Yoshi will kill the player.

After eight nights of working there, the night guard, Amy Rose, was killed by Golden Sonic. Her disappearance caused the location to shut down and the clones as well as the animatronics were fixed and shipped to a storage unit in a new location where they would be healed and remain there until 2027.

Five Nights at Sonic's 3[]

End-of-Night Minigames[]

One night, Yoshi woke up to find that Sonic and Mario weren't on the show stage like the others and wandered through the location to find him until she stumbled Mario's corpse in front of a room she couldn't enter. She turned to leave before suddenly being attacked by Eggman, who decapitated her with a knife, killing her.

Eventually, Tails would also be killed and their spirits left their physical bodies. They eventually went to confront Eggman and discovered him alongside Sonic, who was badly beaten and bruised. Eggman commanded Salvage Sonic to attack the spirits of his friends, but Salvage Sonic instead stabbed him in the chest with his own knife, killing him.

Main Nights[]

Some time after Eggman's death, Salvage Sonic and the withered toy animatronics would be shipped to a new location, with the spirits of Mario, Yoshi and Tails following.

Phantom Yoshi will occasionally appear on the monitor of the arcade machine cabinet which is in CAM 6. If the player doesn't switch to a different camera or put down the monitor, Phantom Yoshi will appear on the left side of the office, making it impossible for the player to avoid getting jumpscared by her. The next time you look left (especially for the maintenance panel), Phantom Yoshi will jumpscare the player, causing the ventilation to malfunction and some of the power to drain.

During the 6th night, the location caught on fire and Salvage Sonic was crushed beneath falling debris as the building collapsed. Modern Sonic, who had been hired as the night guard, managed to escape, but unbeknownst to him, so did Salvage Sonic.

Five Nights at Sonic's 4[]

Pre-night Cutscenes[]

A year after the third Sonic's Hero Pizza Palace burned down, Salvage Sonic went back to the storage unit they were placed at previously and discovered the bodies of his friends. Determined to bring them back, he headed to the first location and discovered several cloning machines that were still intact. Using them, he created new, nightmarish bodies for his friends' spirits to possess. However, Salvage Sonic would be killed by Nightmare Golden Sonic, who was possessed by Eggman, and stuffed into the Toymare, an animatronic hybrid made by Salvage Sonic out of the remains of the toys.

After this event, the nightmare clones retrieved Salvage Sonic's body and created a new one for his spirit to inhabit; Nightmare Sonic.

Main Nights[]

Alongside Nightmare Mario and Nightmare Tails, Nightmare Yoshi is one of the first three characters to attack the player on Night 1. Nightmare Yoshi will approach the Office from the right hallway. The player must listen to her breathing and hide under the desk and wait for her to go past the Office until the coast is clear. If the player is too late to react to her breathing or shine the light on her while she's breathing, Nightmare Yoshi will jumpscare the player.

Nightmare Yoshi and her friends were unable to kill Luigi, but found his hat left behind after he escaped. After Luigi informed the authorities about the clones, they were captured and restored to their original forms.

Five Nights at Sonic's: Maniac Mania[]

Yoshi returns in Five Nights at Sonic's: Maniac Mania in her normal, withered, phantom and nightmare incarnations.

Yoshi[]

Yoshi will start on the Show Stage and make her way towards the office through the right hallway and to the right doorway. The player must close the door on her when she's in the blindspot of the doorway, or either throw on the mask and keep the doorlight turned on while Yoshi is at the door (this method also works for Mario, but this will not work for Sonic and Clone Mighty), although this method takes too long to make her go away. If the player leaves Yoshi alone for too long, she will jam the door functions. The next time they use the monitor system while she jammed the door, Yoshi will attack the player.

The challenges in which Yoshi is present are as follows:

  • Sonic‘s 1 (50)
  • Yoshi‘s Island (50)
  • Abandoned Sonic’s 1 (50)
  • Double Dinos (50)
  • Bounce Blade (20)

  • 90’s Diner (40)
  • Bad Future (10)
  • Maniac Mania (50)
  • Encore (50)

Withered Yoshi[]

Withered Yoshi will start in the Backstage and will use the right doorway entrance to get into the office (in a similar way of Withered Mario, but the two can't be seen at the blindspot of the doorways). The player must equip the mask to make her go away. Failure to do so and Withered Yoshi will attack the player. While Withered Yoshi is at the right corner, the player can close the door to prevent her from coming in (just like Yoshi). Unlike Yoshi, she will not leave if the door is closed on her (same goes for Withered Mario).

The challenges in which Withered Yoshi is present are as follows:

  • Yoshi's Island (30)
  • Sonic's 2 (30)
  • Double Dinos (40)
  • Winding Away (30)
  • Abandoned Sonic's 2 (50)

  • Maniac Mania (50)
  • Encore (50)

Phantom Yoshi[]

Phantom Yoshi will occasionally appear on your maintenance panel in the office when you put down the monitor system. If she is on the panel, do not turn it on. To make Phantom Yoshi go away, the player must filp up the monitor up and lower it back down, which will make her disappear. If the player turns on the panel, Phantom Yoshi will jumpscare the player and cause the ventilation to malfunction and some of the power to drain.

The challenges in which Phantom Yoshi is present are as follows:

  • Yoshi's Island (40)
  • Double Dinos (50)
  • Puppet Play (20)
  • Sonic's 3 (50)
  • Extinction (30)

  • Dinosaur Dread (30)
  • Room For One More (30)
  • '90s Diner (40)
  • Bad Future (10)
  • Maniac Mania (50)
  • Encore (50)

Nightmare Yoshi[]

Nightmare Yoshi will start on the Nightmare Stage before making her way towards the office through the right hallway to the right doorway. Once she is near the blindspot of the doorway, she will emit a loud static-like noise (more like breathing) and will reveal her glowing-red eyes in the dark, indicating that she is poised and ready to attack. To make Nightmare Yoshi go away, close the door to block her entry in the office and she will leave. If the player fails the close the door in time or turns on the doorlight on her, Nightmare Yoshi will kill the player, evidently by stabbing Luigi's chest with her knife many times.

The challenges in which Nightmare Yoshi is present are as follows:

  • Yoshi's Island (30)
  • Double Dinos (40)
  • Puppet Play (20)
  • Ground Pound (25)
  • Extinction (30)
  • No Strings (25)
  • Dinosaur Dread (50)
  • Room For One More (30)
  • Bad Future (10)
  • Maniac Mania (50)
  • Encore (50)

Trivia[]

  • One of Yoshi's deathlines from Maniac Mania is a reference to players in Super Mario World often leaping off Yoshi and letting him fall into bottomless pits when making risky and precarious leaps of faith during platforming segments.
  • Nightmare Yoshi's knife is the same knife used by Dr. Eggman to kill her and her friends, and by extension, the same knife Salvage Sonic used to kill Eggman and used by Nightmare Golden Sonic to kill Salvage Sonic.
  • Yoshi was originally male during the first three games, but she was redesigned to be female as of Five Nights at Sonic's 4, suggested by one of the developers.
  • This that mean she is not genetics template of original yoshi seen that must be female Yoshi who is unnamed.
