The Combine is one of the primary antagonistic factions in the Evanverse, originating from the canonical Half-Life series and expanded significantly in this version of the Multiverse. It is an immensely hyper-advanced, interdimensional extraterrestrial empire that has conquered countless universes and dimensions. Ruled by the Overmind itself, the Combine exists solely to conquer and exploit entire universes and dimensions, assimilating all life, technology, and resources into their ever-expanding empire.

Overview[]

The Combine's empire spans countless dimensions and universes, each stripped of its unique characteristics and reduced to a cog in the vast Combine machine. They are defined by their ruthless efficiency, insatiable hunger for power, and mastery of both technology and biological manipulation.

In this version, the Combine is even more terrifying than its original incarnation. It boasts massive warships capable of targeting cities or larger civilizations, planet-targeting superweapons capable of obliterating or enslaving entire worlds in an instant, and an array of horrific Synths and bio-mechanical constructs that push the limits of imagination. Their influence reaches across timelines, dimensions, and realities, making them a nearly omnipresent threat.

The Overmind views entire realities as nothing more than exploitable resource hubs. Every universe they conquer becomes a shattered husk, its population assimilated or eradicated, ecosystems stripped barren, and its natural and magical phenomena repurposed into Combine war machines or megastructures.

Tactics and Arsenal[]

Planetary Eradication and Domination[]

  • Combine warships the size of continents hover ominously in orbit, casting shadows that could engulf entire cities. These ships carry weaponry so destructive they make nukes look like sparklers.
  • Planetary Targeting Superweapons: Imagine a weapon capable of reducing continents to smoldering wastelands or vaporizing entire planets with anti-matter detonations. These doomsday devices are built into Combine ships or specialized planetary platforms.

Synth Armies[]

  • The Combine do not stop at mere physical warfare—they field legions of Synths: bio-mechanical monstrosities created by fusing organic life with cybernetic enhancements. These Synths are reapers of life, capable of:
    • Siege Warfare: City-leveling Synth titans march across battlefields, flattening structures with claws larger than skyscrapers.
    • Planetary Assault: Drop-pods filled with Synth swarms descend from orbit, overwhelming civilizations in mere hours.

Anti-Matter Weaponry[]

  • The Combine deploy anti-matter missiles as their standard payload, capable of turning targets into vapor and collapsing physical space into gravitational singularities. Some warships are rumored to possess anti-universe warheads, which could obliterate entire planes of existence.

Planetary and Universal Domination[]

Combine Megastructures[]

  • The Combine do not merely conquer planets—they transform them into resource farms and production hubs. Entire planets are stripped of their atmospheres, their cores hollowed out to build sprawling mega-factories and superweapons.
  • Dyson Sphere Constructs: Combine-controlled star systems are often encased in Dyson Spheres, harnessing 100% stellar energy to power their multiversal conquests.

The Assimilation Process[]

  • Life in a conquered universe faces two options: assimilation or eradication. Organic species are forcibly transformed into cybernetic drones, their minds subsumed by the Overmind.
  • Civilizations are converted into tools of the Combine: cities repurposed as war factories, oceans drained for fuel, and entire ecosystems turned into breeding grounds for bio-synth armies.

The Combine’s Multiversal Strategy[]

  • The Combine does not operate on conventional timelines. With technology that manipulates dimensional folding and time-stream compression, they can invade universes in the past, present, and future simultaneously.
  • Time Erasure Protocols: If resistance proves too costly, the Combine initiate retroactive erasure, obliterating a civilization from the time continuum itself.

Trivia[]

  • This version of the Combine may feature high-tech sound effects inspired by those used in various Transformers movies, particularly those associated with Cybertronian technology. Examples could include the iconic transformation sounds or mechanical ambient effects.
  • The Combine’s synthesized voices for Overwatch units and other Combine-controlled entities might draw inspiration from the distorted and robotic tones found in Transformers series, as well as other sci-fi media like HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
  • The energy-based weaponry sound effects for Combine forces may incorporate elements reminiscent of the futuristic weapons in Halo or Mass Effect, adding a mix of organic and synthetic tones to enhance their alien origin.
