Commander Greenlight, later transformed into The Metroid Prime, is the main antagonist of the 2022 fanfilm Metroid.

He is the ruthless former commander of the kingdom's forces, who always had ambition of becoming the most powerful creature for revenge on his master, President Burnos. He is also the archenemy of Samus Aran and her pet Baby Metroid.

He is portrayed by Alexander Siddig, who also plays Ra's al Ghul from the TV show Gotham.

History[]

Greenlight was raised by President Burnos along with his partner Commander Pinker. While Pinker was loyal to Burnos, Greenlight always had ambition of overthrowing him and becoming the most powerful creature in the universe by stealing an orb which creates/spawns and controls all Metroids. The owner of the orb was Ridley, a pirate who took it from it's place and therefore he corrupted the Metroid race almost completely.

Also, while Greenlight was raised by Burnos, he was defiant, and Burnos once beat him up for this. Greenlight eventually became a commander of the kingdom's forces along with Pinker, and the two along with Burnos were Agent Samus Aran's superiors.

Greenlight manipulated Samus and the others into completing a mission which would cause Samus to retrieve the orb from Ridley and give it to him so he could "protect" their kingdom.

After Ridley killed Samus' father, she started her voyage and found Adam and the Baby Metroid on her journey. The trio defeated Ridley and his pirate minions. While this happened, Pinker discovered that through a portal and the orb, Greenlight was planning to become The Metroid Prime, and she secretly ordered her guards to sabotage him so Samus could kill him under her orders when she comes back.

The plan was almost successful, and Samus came back as Pinker then ordered her to kill Greenlight. However, Samus wouldn't obey her, since she did not know about Commander Greenlight's evil intentions, and she wouldn't betray innocent people. However, Greenlight then killed the two guards who held him captive, and he revealed that he's planning to turn into The Metroid Prime and rule the universe before he sucks the orb from Samus.

The Baby Metroid tries to defeat Greenlight, but he now has the power to control all the Metroids in the universe, as he corrupts even the baby and causes him to fly out of the scene and wreak some havoc.

Greenlight then enters the portal and transforms into The Metroid Prime. He then goes to Burnos' office and tries to kill him. However, after revealing that his motives are from vengeance and tyranny, Samus enters the office and prepares to fight the monstrous Prime out of bravery.

Greenlight however has more power and catches her as he chokes her with his claws. He then orders the corrupted Baby Metroid to kill her, but he overcomes his influence, and finally decides to fight against The Prime. His decision also somehow influences the other Metroids and causes them to explode on their Prime, causing Greenlight to eventually explode and die.

Personality[]

Greenlight is ambitious, ruthless and tyrannical. He is a natural warmonger who despises Burnos for abusing him and wants to transform himself into "The Prime" for power and vengeance.

He has little to no mercy for anyone. However, he does have some honorable points since he really did suffer from Burnos' attitude towards him. Despite this, his actions were never justified.

Trivia[]

  • He is the first cinematic version of The Metroid Prime from the franchise.
  • It is unknown wether he defied Burnos because of his abuse, or that even before the abuse he hated him. However, either way, he wanted power long before Burnos abused him ever.
