“ | Ah! Yeah! This stupid thing is finally up and running! Hi to whoever gets this thing after me! This is Dedf1sh! And make sure you spell that with a "1", got it? I'm down in the Deepsea Metro Central Station! So here I am, rookie up-and-coming DJ, trying to escape Octarian society, you know, just wandering around for an escape... and somehow, I ended up down here! And then I meet this weird telephone! I think it's an AI or something. I think it's kinda old though, 'cause the lingo it uses is like SUUUPER outdated. Apparently, normally to pass through here and get to the surface, folks have to pass a series of tests, but after I showed it some of the stuff I've been working on, the phone said it could make an exception for me! I'm hired! Phone says all I gotta do is make a few little songs that'll play during the tests that future applicants are gonna go through. After that, it's a one-way ticket to Inkopolis, baybee!!! I'm so excited! ♪ You better watch out, Inkopolis! 'Cause pretty soon... this rookie DJ is gonna take you by storm! | „ |
~ Ahato describing her encounter with Tartar in her CQ-80 device's recording. |
Commander Tartar (also known as the Telephone) is the main antagonist of #14-CRUSH, a webcomic serving as a fan-sequel to Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion. It is an ancient artificial intelligence who attempted to wipe out Earth's lifeforms to replace them with its own creations, before being stopped by Agent 8 and her friends.
Personality[]
Tartar's personality presumably wasn't much different from its canonical counterpart's.
It seems it wasn't a good boss to its minions, at least judging by how Ahato was afraid of what he'd do to her if she defied it. At the very least, however, it seemed to genuinely like her music.
Biography[]
Tartar's backstory doesn't seem to be any different from how it is in canon, having also killed and "sanitized" various Octarians with the intent of having its creations replace Earth's creatures. Its most notable victim is Ahato Mizuta, an Octoling who abandoned DJ Octavio's army to become a DJ herself (using the nickname "Dedf1sh"); liking her music, Tartar decided to not make her go through tests and instead directly sanitize her to have her create music for the test chambers.
While Tartar ended up being defeated like in canon, its actions left a huge impact on Ahato.
