Cosmo Julius-Cosma is one of the main protagonists of the popular animated series, The Fairly Oddparents.
Though considered to be a kindhearted, but dimwitted godparent whose stupidity can sometimes get them into trouble, some fans of the show theorize him to be a sophisticated, yet vile crook who manipulate Timmy and Wanda into getting themselves into calamitous situations with his immense cunning.
Story[]
Cosmo was born on an unknown date in an unknown time period, but canonically, he is at least tens of thousands of years old. During his second birthday, he used his first wand to turn his father into a fly. Some years after that unfortunate incident, he went to the Godfathers Academy, with Jorgen Von Strangle as Head Teacher, there he turned a dish into a dragon named Snowball who attacked other students. Later Jorgen showed him three great civilizations, brimming with potential and prosperity, only for Cosmo to easily destroy the first two, and change the third into a run-down city, Atlantis also was recreated and sunk by Cosmo eight times over.
After graduating he had dated his school crush, Wanda, and they get married and become Fairy Godparents, ten thousands years before the events of the series. Over the years, they had an innumerable amount of godchildren, including, but not limited to: Maryann, Denzel Crocker, Artie Aaronson, Billy Gates, Googie Sarakaya, Heather Wilson, Tina Turner, Sammy, Pierre, and Timmy Turner.
During his time as the godfather of Timmy, he was the host of Fairy Con, replaced Jorgen Von Strangle as enforcer of Da Rules due to familial connections (albeit, this was temporary), appeared at his school reunion, and had a baby named Poof by a wish of Timmy. Most of these hijinks ending in utter disaster.
Evil Acts[]
- Turning his father into a fly (This could possibly be accidental, as he was two (at least in fairy years) at the time).
- Turning a dish into the dragon, Snowball, who attacked several students.
- Burning Pompeii to a crisp, likely killing dozens.
- Sinking Atlantis a whopping eight times, even if there was a slight chance of surviving the chaos, any survivors would most likely die at the hands of a ferocious kraken.
- Turning Xanadu into Pittsburg.
- Summoning Snowball yet again.
- Throughout the series, he has insulted, injured, and outright maimed Wanda and Timmy several times.
- Creating you-doo dolls despite how harmful they are and even using one to make Wanda act as if she like him, demonstrating how they work by damaging Timmy's doll.
- Making danger wishes that endanger his godchildren, likely even killing some of them by doing them.
- Allowed Timmy do wishes against Da Rules when he replaced Jorgen as the ruler of Fairy World (granted, he was tricked into doing so by Timmy writing into Da Rules with a crayon).
- Revealing his existence to the population of Dimmsdale in 1972, making Denzel Crocker lose him and Wanda unfairly, and indirectly causing his madness
- Getting Wanda away from Timmy by completely irrational jealousy, although one of his lines implies that he knew what was happening, but later he resolve the problem.
Theory[]
A big reason why the theory has amassed such a cult following is due to how much sense it makes in-universe. Throughout the series, Cosmo has had numerous instances of behaving intelligently, such as speaking monkey and even having a suave demeanor in the pilot shorts. Thus, him pretending to be stupid just for kicks does have some plausibility to it.
However, there is some evidence against this theory, such as how Cosmo's stupidity can hurt him on several occasions, and that he usually fixes up whatever mess he causes. This could be just done to avoid suspicion, so the theory still holds water.
Skills[]
Magic: As a fairy, he can do magic to help him in whatever scenario he pleases
Immortality: Due to being an inherently magical being, Cosmo cannot die by regular means.
Performance: As demonstrated with how he managed to keep up his façade for centuries, it can be inferred that Cosmo is a natural at acting.
Trivia[]
- While this theory does provide a good reason as to why Cosmo is as stupid as he is, it is never explained in-universe the cause of his stupidity. Because of this, other theories have formed about how intelligent Cosmo truly is.
