Count Chocula is the main antagonist of Breakfast of the Gods. Seeking to turn Cerealia into his feeding ground, he tried to find King Vitaman's coffin by having his minions slowly kidnap the population in an attempt to coax information out of them through brutal tortures, and murder them when he is through with them.
Biography[]
At some point in the past, Count Chocula wanted to take the throne of Cerealia with hidden intentions of turning the population into his feeding grounds. When he was denied the position, he ultimately decided to scheme behind the shadows.
When Jarvis the Cookie Wizard sensed great evil coming, King Vitaman volunteered to seal his own body with magic to protect Cerealia from the evil forces. Wanting to seek the king, Count Chocula recruited Franken Berry along with Lucky to help him with his schemes. He kidnapped the population one by one in order to try to coax anyone who had information on the king's whereabouts by forcing their hand directly or indirectly. He would drive Sonny the Cuckoo Bird to insanity by taking advantage of his chocolate addiction and chain Frute Brute.
Honey Bee was eventually kidnapped and chained up. Count Chocula decided to have Franken Berry present Honey Bee to him to ask him why the Count hasn't eaten a lot. Honey Bee tried to plead for his life and try to satisfy Count Chocula, but he only upset Franken Berry enough to smash his head on the ground, killing him. The Count and Franken Berry decided to drift Honey Bee's corpse across the milky sea where the others discovered his body.
Count Chocula decided to have Franken Berry and Sonny kidnap the Rice Krispies brothers in hopes they had the information he seeked. They were all horribly tortured by Franken Berry such as Snap's fingers being snapped, Pop's back being popped, and Crackle being crackled by the fire. Count Chocula decided to look up at the night sky where Boo Berry gave him a scare. Boo Berry asked him if they truly had information on the king's whereabouts. However, Count Chocula intended to continue slowly torturing the population in hopes of forcing the hand of someone who knows, which shook Boo Berry.
Around this time, Count Chocula also manipulated the native leader Ayummayumma into having his tribe serve as decoys to the kidnapping in exchange for getting their land back. The tribe tortured Cap'n Crunch's beloved pet to madness and sought out to betray the captain's crew which ended up killing Caryle in the process. All of the tribe were wiped out including the captain's pet as when Ayummayumma realized the plan was for nothing, he decided to commit suicide by poisoning himself.
Trix Rabbit decided to infiltrate the Count's castle in hopes of finding information on his plan. It's revealed Count Chocula was conspiring with someone else for his plans when Rabbit decided to go up close. However, Franken Berry caught him in the act leading Count Chocula to confront the spy directly. Seeing an opportunity to get close to the captain, he manipulated the Rabbit into becoming vulnerable bait by offering a bowl of Trix cereal turning him on his side.
He bonded both Toucan Sim and Rabbit while luring Cap'n Crunch towards him for a "meeting". When the captain angered him as he protested against his plans on taking over Cerealia, he choked him but decided to let him go. As the captain asked why he spared him, the Count told him he didn't like to get his hands dirty as Jeanne LaFoote fatally stabbed the captain in the back as Rabbit and Toucan Sam watched in horror leaving the two heartbroken as Rabbit tried to hang himself for being manipulated so easily. As a result, the others decided to finally get revenge on Count Chocula as Franken Berry manipulated Quake over to their side.
Count Chocula readied his team as Quake created earthquakes to keep them away. However, Boo Berry betrayed the Count by releasing Jarvis from the blue diamond as Lucky tried to fend off the castle from Jarvis. Despite this, the Count revealed his trump card as the Soggies arrived to show their alliance to Count Chocula and invade Cerealia. The Sogmaster stood by his side as he watched the Count get overconfident over his position and told him they needed a better plan and decided to be more direct in their conquest. Many died in the battle as the Count was unfazed by it, however in the distance Count Chocula saw a coffin glistening in one of the cracks Quake caused. When he realized the coffin was hidden underneath his castle all along, he laughed as Tony Tiger gave a gruesome swipe on his face. When his face regenerated, he revealed his intentions on turning the entire population into a feeding ground for himself as Franken Berry held Tony back only for Trix Rabbit to swoop in and stab Count Chocula. When the Rabbit asked him what "retribution tastes like", Count Chocula decided to "find out" and bite Rabbit's neck, killing him. He then decided to head to the coffin, only for it to a mummy's coffin which served as a decoy. After smacking the coffin away, he decided to head for the king's coffin only for Jarvis to gather enough magic to summon the sun and disintegrate Count Chocula into a skeleton, ending his torment once and for all.
Personality[]
Count Chocula is a sophisticated and calculated villain who can work in the shadows. He knows how to manipulate others into joining his side and strategizes a way to gain information from others. He's also sadistic and takes glee in the torment and suffering he causes. He sometimes likes to cause horrible incidents such as the suicidal mission of the natives just to get more pleasure from showing others how untouchable he is along with only keeping others alive to psychologically torment them with guilt or helplessness over not being able to save someone they care about. Despite his sophisticated nature, he can sometimes be cocky and arrogant and fail to see counter-plans such as the decoy coffin, stalling enough time and leading to his downfall when Jarvis gathered enough magic to summon the sun against him.
Trivia[]
- Count Chocula's minions are made off of similar brands based on horror figures including Frute Brute who was imprisoned. The only exception is Boo Berry as he was secretly working against the Count.
