Count Groxia is main antagonist of the 1994 Phillips CD-i video game Gwimbly: The Cream of the Crop. Out of universe, he is the main antagonist of the Gwimbly CD-i video by Jimmy Davis.

He is the CD-i version of Count Groxia who takes over Gwimbly's cream corn factory with his minions so his plans for world domination can be foolproofed from the titular hero.

He is voiced by Jimmy Davis.

Biography[]

Count Groxia in the unfound opening cutscene (according to a physical copy of the game's enclosed instruction book) is asking his magic mirror if his plans to rule the world is foolproof for those who dare to oppress him. The magic mirror confirms this but only one person stands in his way for domination, that being Gwimbly. Groxia demands his minions to find out what Gwimbly cherishes the most, and take it from him. The very possession is his cream corn factory and Groxia promptly takes it over. Gwimbly vows to reclaim his factory and goes on an adventure with his trusty sidekick, Mr. Millipede.

Gwimbly eventually arrives at his factory to find Groxia hogging all of his cream corn and the villain offers his nemesis a "free sample" before the two come to fight. Groxia only has two moves, that is to hurl chunks of cream corn at Gwimbly from the conveyor belt or stomp to create a shockwave on the ground. He is easily defeated in one hit with a can, and the ending cutscene depicts Gwimbly throwing said empty can at him which then starts to suck him in. Groxia vows that this won't be the last time Gwimbly will see him as he is finally sealed in the can with a label titled "Gwimbly's Creamed Groxia", ending his reign over his factory. Mr. Millipede knocks Groxia's can over as he congratulates Gwimbly.

Despite a CD-i sequel being in early production that features Groxia escaping the can and enacting revenge on Gwimbly, poor sales of this game led it to being scrapped, ironically meaning Groxia's fate in this game is permanent and final despite his last tidbit of dialogue.

Trivia[]

  • He is a parody of CD-i Ganon, even where his boss battle parallels that of the latter as he is easily defeated in one hit during the fight, and is sealed away in a magical item. (the book of Koridai for Ganon, and a cream corn can for Groxia)
