Cruella De Vil is the main antagonist of the 2025 Disney based remake and fanfilm Dalmatians.
She is a very skilled female fashion designer who is hellbent on collecting and then torturing and skinning animals, most importantly Roger and Anita's Dalmatian pack, so she can sell her ideas and become ultimately rich. Cruella owns a slaughterhouse in which she managed to collect almost a thousand animals, and put them into captivity in cages. She is the arch-nemesis of Littlefoot and his Dalmatian family, and also for Fiona the fox. She is also Anita Radcliffe's former boss turned arch-nemesis as well as Rufus Dineo's former chief enforcer and henchwoman.
She is portrayed by the famous singer Dua Lipa, who also played as Kassanora from Oz: A Happy Ever After.
History[]
Cruella De Vil was a young woman, seeking to be a fashion designer and seeking for perfection at all costs. She was heavily obsessed with having her Dalmatian coat completed for fashion. At some point her company turned rogue and she became corrupt, becoming a wealthy and powerful criminal lady in order to survive, and joining forces with the crime lord Rufus Dineo, who was her boss and the head of the company, despite his secret corruption and his plans to benefit from Cruella's conspiracy.
Cruella eventually accepts her former schoolmate and good friend Anita Radcliffe into her company. However, due to Cruella's visible obsession with Dalmatians and her coat, Anita had always suspected Cruella's intentions. When Cruella arranges with Anita to come to her house and talk "business", Anita decides to do a heroic act and leads the Dalmatian pack to a hidden room so Cruella won't find them. Cruella comes to Anita's house, and the two talk for a while. When Cruella realizes that Anita is protecting the dogs somehow, she threatens to fire Anita for disobedience and delays for her project. Anita offers Cruella as a "friend" to take interest in other fashion ideas and not just the Dalmatian coat. However, Cruella coldly rejects this, as she tells Anita she has 3 more days to make up her mind. Out of rage and need to find the dogs, she sets her goals to finish the task. Furthermore, is hire by Mr. Dineo with the assistance of her two allies Jasper and Horace to capture the Dalmatians properly, kill them all, skin them and make sure the coat is complete on time. Mr. Dineo was very strict with Cruella, as in contrast, Cruella never even cared for him and was willing to betray him for the fashion and money, if needed. Cruella then used her slaughter house for animals to finish her tasks. The slaughter house also served as her factory and base of operations. Cruella had in that location a dog called Nemesis, who operated within the entire facility and made sure there is order with his dozens of watchdogs assisting him on this task. Cruella also told Jasper to feed Nemesis, while showing off with her idea for a finally ready fur coat made of innocent animals who lived their lives before being slaughtered off-screen, previously to the movie. Cruella eventually realized that a Dalmatian pup called Littelfoot (the protagonist of the film, respectively), has begun to foil her plans and rescue many captured animals from her slaughterhouse all over the institution. Cruella was obsessed with getting her furious revenge on Littlefoot and making sure he doesn't spoil her dream completely. Eventually, Nemesis, who was sent by her to take care of Littlefoot, he found Littlefoot in the control room and began to physically fight against Littlefoot so the hero won't touch the button which lets all the animals escape the institution. Littlefoot however manages to push Nemesis onto the button, electrocuting Nemesis dangerously. Nemesis was then afraid that Cruella was going to kill him for his failure. However, fortunately, Littlefoot put their rough fight aside and gave him a chance to redeem himself by vowing to protect him from Cruella's discipline. When Cruella comes, she prepares to kill both Nemesis and Littlefoot, but the female fox Fiona launched herself onto Cruella's face and she attacked Cruella to save the lives of her boyfriend Littlefoot as well as the redeemed Nemesis, who decides to do the right thing and attacks Cruella, causing injuries and allowing Littlefoot and Fiona to escape in the meanwhile. Also, after Roger and Anita found out about Cruella's evil doings and schemes, Roger decides to drive a truck and send all animals to the zoo, except the Dalmatians and later also Fiona, who joined their family and lived with them happily ever after in Roger and Anita's mansion. However, before they've all reached their destinations while everyone was still in the truck, Cruella drove her own car recklessly with intent of physically smashing the truck, but instead, her car was ruined after the incident. After the animals and Roger escaped from Cruella's deadly clutches, Cruella got out of the car furiously, ranting about the animals, thus drawing the attention of a bear she once captured, and after the cowardly Cruella tried to show "remorse", the bear quickly ate her alive.
Personality[]
Cruella is a sadist inside out, enjoying her tasks of watching animals being tortured and killed in massive pain., and she is heavily obsessed with beauty and fashion while taking extreme measures to complete her fashion line products even if hundreds of animals, at the very least, need to be harmed in horrific ways that even watching Cruella's methods of torture and chaos from close would be scary and nightmarish. Cruella showed compassion and some degree of kindness and honor towards Anita. However, her obsession and greed for money, as well as her simply horrible nature, caused her to subvert this manner towards Anita, as she threatened to fire her before sending Jasper and Horace to steal her Dalmatians. Cruella is also a coward, in times such as when she tried to calm the bear down before her death.
Trivia[]
- Cruella is based on a dictator, much like a female version of Adolf Hitler, because she imprisons and tortures many animals in a tyrannical way, much like the Nazis used their gas chambers for torturing minorities.
- To make matters even more interesting, the creator of the fanfilm says that just like he did with Queen Grimhilde, Cruella was portrayed by an anti-semitic, pro Palestinian celebrity. However, the creator does say it's more for storytelling than for controversial outcomes.
- This is the first version of Cruella to end up dying.
