~ Darkstripe hoping that Tigerclaw will make him deputy when he kills Bluestar |
Darkstripe is a reoccurring supporting antagonist in Moonkitti's Warrior Cats shorts and I Spoil series. He's Tigerstar's most loyal follower, who constantly tries to impress and appease him, though often fails. After getting banished from ThunderClan for trying to poison Sorrelkit, he joins Tigerstar's new Clan TigerClan, though once the leader dies, he becomes a rogue. He's killed by his half-brother Graystripe a few days later, after which his spirit goes to the Dark Forest.
He is voiced by Moonkitti in the I Spoil series and Darkstripe, by Bravo Music in That Kittypet, by Raycorra in Darkstripe 2, by Silly Cat in Tawnypaw and Tigerstar and Darkstripe 3, and by Juan in Double Standard.
Appearance[]
Darkstripe is a short, dark gray tom with yellow eyes. His tail is black, and he has a black stripe running from his forehead to his back, hence his name. He has a small black nose, and a few hairs resembling a beard on his chin.
Biography[]
Shorts[]
That Kittypet[]
After Bluestar introduces a former kittypet named Firepaw into ThunderClan, who then begins befriending most of its members, Darkstripe meets with Longtail and Dustpaw, proclaiming that he's "getting too powerful". He tells them that they need to fight back the next time Firepaw tries being nice to someone.
When Mousefur asks Firepaw why he's just standing around, he says that he was admiring her battle moves, to which her tone becomes friendlier as she asks if he's learning anything useful. Darkstripe asks why everyone's falling for the apprentice's kindness, calling it a façade and claiming that he's just a kittypet on a little adventure. Firepaw replies that he's on the greatest adventure of his life, to which Mousefur tells him he'll be a great warrior, which only annoys Darkstripe further.
Darkstripe[]
In the aftermath of Tigerclaw's coup, Darkstripe thinks to himself that soon Bluestar will be dead, and when Tigerclaw takes her place, he'll make the gray warrior his deputy. Bluestar then calls for a meeting, announcing that Tigerclaw is exiled from the Clan for trying to kill her. Tigerclaw asks if anyone is with him, and Darkstripe pretends to feel bad for Bluestar for nearly being murdered.
Tigerclaw then states that he'll ask all of his allies one-by-one to join him in exile, and Darkstripe excitedly thinks that it's his time to prove his loyalty to the brown tabby. He asks Longtail first, who refuses, and Darkstripe reasons to himself that Longtail is older than him - despite the opposite being true. Tigerclaw then asks Goldenflower, who also refuses, and Darkstripe reminds himself that she's the brown tabby's wife, so of course she's be one of the first he asked.
Tigerclaw then says he knows one cat who won't ever leave his side, and Darkstripe thinks he's talking about him, before he asks Dustpelt. he's turned down once more, and laments that he has no allies in ThunderClan. As Darkstripe looks on nervously, Fireheart tells him that he though he'd go with Tigerclaw, saying the dark gray tom is a good guy for staying with his Clan. Tigerclaw then reconsiders, and Darkstripe looks on hopefully, before the tabby tom asks Moonkitti's patrons if they want to go with him. He then leaves the Clan and Darkstripe behind.
Double Standard[]
After Tigerstar becomes the leader of ShadowClan, he tames a pack of dogs and orders his spy Darkstripe to get his children Bramblepaw and Tawnypaw out of camp before he uses the back to destroy ThunderClan. Instead though, during a holiday party in ThunderClan, Darkstripe steals a gingerbread house, remembering it was always Tigerstar's favorite part of the annual parties and needs to be saved from the dog pack.
After running out of Sprite, Sandstorm and Longtail ask Darkstripe to get them some more, before noticing him stealing the gingerbread house. Fernpaw begs him to stop, but he runs off with it anyways, as Sandstorm asks how he could betray the Clan like that. He then presents the stolen gingerbread house to Tigerstar, who unamusedly reminds him that he was supposed to get Bramblepaw and Tawnypaw.
Darkstripe 2[]
Trying again with Tigerstar's request to get Bramblepaw and Tawnypaw out of ThunderClan Darkstripe enters the apprentices' den to ask the two if they want to visit ShadowClan before the camp is destroyed. Bramblepaw asks if that's illegal, and the gray tom enthusiastically says yes. Tawnypaw then agrees, asking when they'll leave.
On the way to ShadowClan, Darkstripe is caught by Firestar, who asks to know where he's taking the two apprentices. Darkstripe replies that they're going to ShadowClan, and Firestar demands that he bring them back home. The dark gray tom replies that he just wants the two of them to visit their father, accusing Firestar of causing them stress by keeping them in a "toxic environment." The orange tom considers that he might be right, before remembering that Tigerstar is a murderer, and takes Bramblepaw and Tawnypaw home himself. he then asks Darkstripe if he's coming, and the yellow-eyed tom is surprised to be given another chance.
Five minutes later, when his younger half-sister Sorrelkit catches him talking with Tigerstar's deputy Blackfoot, he tries covering it up by trying to kill her. He asks if she'd like some poison, and she exclaims that she loves poison. He then feeds her deathberries, but is caught before the poison can kill her. Sorrelkit is saved, and Darkstripe is exiled, to which he goes to join Tigerstar's new Clan, TigerClan.
Tawnypaw and Tigerstar[]
While Tigerstar talks with Tawnypaw - who has left ThunderClan to join TigerClan after everyone called her the daughter of a murderer - Darkstripe interrupts, asking where he wants the leader to put the half-Clan cats while holding Featherpaw and Stormpaw hostage. Tigerstar replies to put them in the evil dungeon to be murdered later.
Darkstripe 3[]
After his death, Darkstripe ends up in the Dark Forest, where he helps with the plan to attack the living world. During this attack, he steps out of the bushes to confront Cloudtail and his granddaughter Dovewing, asking the former if he's confused by the appearance of ghost cats, seeing as he doesn't believe in the afterlife. Cloudtail asks where he's been for the past three years, and Darkstripe simply replies that he's been dead. Cloudtail then calls him dramatic, telling him not to take it out on him just because he's evil and nobody likes him.
Darkstripe mockingly asks if the white tom still doesn't believe in StarClan, and Cloudtail asks if he went there when he died. Darkstripe awkwardly says no, and Cloudtail figures it may be real, then. Dovewing interrupts, asking if they're going to fight or just keep talking. She then enlarges her paw and punches Darkstripe, confused when he doesn't go flying off in a comedic fashion.
Double Standard (cont.)[]
In the Dark Forest, Darkstripe confronts the SkyClan warrior Rootspring, saying he could beat the young warrior in battle. Rootspring nervously says that he's already been caught, so they don't need to test that, but Darkstripe urges him to fight, saying it would be the only battle he's ever won. Rootspring responds that he actually sounds rather wimpy, and tells him to go ahead, and Darkstripe stutters that the yellow tom would be the first weak opponent he's ever fought, so comparatively it would be easy for him.
The spirit of Firestar then convinces Rootspring to let him possess his body, after which the orange tom speaks through Rootspring, greeting Darkstripe and reminding him of the time he stole the gingerbread hose from a ThunderClan holiday party. Darkstripe is confused, saying he made sure no one still alive remembered that. Firestar tells him that he'll pay fore that specifically, using Rootspring's body to kill Darkstripe's spirit with one punch, causing him to fade away.
I Spoil[]
Into The Wild[]
Darkstripe watches as Bluestar introduces Rusty to ThunderClan, and soon after stares at Redtail's dead body with his Clanmates.
Fire and Ice[]
When finding prey bones with ShadowClan's scent on their territory, Darkstripe goes on a patrol to go beat up the neighboring Clan.
Forest of Secrets[]
Darkstripe briefly appears as ThunderClan heads to the Gathering. After ShadowClan and WindClan raid ThunderClan's camp in an attempt to kill their prisoner Brokentail, Darkstripe and his Clanmates scold Bluestar for keeping an evil cat like him alive. Later, after Tigerclaw attempts a coup, Bluestar announces to the Clan that he tried to kill her. Darkstripe denies this though, but when Tigerclaw asks him, Longtail and Dustpelt to join him in exile, they all refuse.
Rising Storm[]
As the new deputy of ThunderClan following Tigerclaw's exile, Fireheart struggles to organize a patrol of Darkstripe, Runningwind and Mousefur, since they're all more intelligent and experienced than him. Whitestorm tells him not to worry about it, saying their Clanmates are just being edgy. When it's time for Ashkit and Fernkit to be made into apprentices, Fireheart asks the same three who they think the mentors should be, but they all respond with "Ask Bluestar, LOL". He then consults Yellowfang and Cinderpaw, who say that Darkstripe and Dustpelt should be the mentors, and Bluestar yells at him for the next forty minutes when he tells her this. Ashpaw is apprenticed to Dustpelt while Fernpaw is apprenticed to Darkstripe, with the latter being horrified that she was assigned to him.
After Cloudpaw is kidnapped by twolegs and rescued by Fireheart and Sandstorm, he tells the Clan that the twolegs were holding him at gunpoint, which everyone but Darkstripe believes. When ThunderClan returns to their now destroyed camp after a forest fire, Bramblekit falls from the top of the screen, knocking into Darkstripe.
A Dangerous Path[]
Fireheart wakes up from a dream to find Darkstripe taking Bramblekit and Tawnykit on a hike. The deputy then watches as the dark gray warrior presents the two kits to their father Tigerstar, but decides not to tell anyone about it. At the next Gathering, Tigerstar announces every bad thing that's happened in ThunderClan over the past few moths, information he got from Darkstripe, thinking it will make the Clan give him his kits. Darkstripe later kidnaps Bramblepaw and Tawnypaw to take them to see their father again, but gets caught and sent back to camp thirteen seconds later.
The Darkest Hour[]
Darkstripe and his Clanmates all gather around Bluestar's dead body, and then reminds everyone that her successor Fireheart is a kittypet, but everyone ignores him. A while later, Firestar, Graystripe and Bramblepaw catch Darkstripe poisoning Sorrelkit with deathberries. He claims he didn't do it, but they retort that they saw him do it. Soon after, Sorrelkit recovers from her poisoning and tells everyone that Darkstripe tried to kill her for witnessing his date with Blackfoot, Tigerstar's deputy. He's banished from the Clan, which makes Tawnypaw upset.
In the newly-formed TigerClan, Tigerstar puts Stonefur, Featherpaw and Stormfur on trial for being half-Clan cats. Stonefur refuses to kill the apprentices, so Darkstripe tries and fails to kill him. Blackfoot then kills Stonefur instead, making the dark gray tabby upset that he can't murder children good enough for Tigerstar. After Tigerstar is killed by their leader Scourge, BloodClan decides to take over the forest in a few days. In preparation for this battle, Firestar combines all four Clans into LionClan, but Darkstripe rage quits and becomes a rouge rather than joining. During the battle, he attacks Firestar, but is then quickly killed by Graystripe and goes to the Dark Forest.
Sunrise[]
Darkstripe asks Tigerstar why no one had mentioned the Dark Forest prior to the second arc, but the brown tabby just tells him to go away.
Fading Echoes[]
Darkstripe helps Tigerstar, Hawkfrost and Brokenstar gaslight the Dark Forest's newest recruit, Breezepelt. Later, Spottedleaf sneaks Jayfeather into the Dark Forest, and yells to Darkstripe and Tigerstar that they suck from the bushes.
Night Whispers[]
While Hawkfrost makes her take swimming lessons, Darkstripe floats next to Ivypaw in the dark water as she hears about Tigerheart skipping class. Later, Darkstripe attends a meeting in the Dark Forest where Tigerstar reveals the plan to attack the living world.
