Darrell Rivers is the main antagonist of the Malory Towers/Sonic crossover horror game Sonic 1: Malory Towers Edition.
She is the main character from the Malory Towers series who is trapped inside the cartridge that the player is playing, wanting them to leave as she belongs there. When the player continues the game despite her warnings, she goes on a killing spree, killing all of the characters in-game, including Sonic.
Appearance[]
Darrell Rives looks exactly like she does in the 2020 Malory Towers television series, but she has empty eye sockets, with blood leaking out of them, as well as red pupils.
Biography[]
Darrell Rivers first appears in the Green Hill Zone level, where she interrupts the player's game, asking them if they are having fun, as her red pupils appear. Afterwards, the player is brought to the Marble Zone, where she interrupts the game again after a while. This time, she declares that they got no time as she belongs there. The player is then taken to Spring Yard Zone, where Darrell interrupts the game for the third time, this time with her eyes being more bloody. Seeing how the player is still there despite her previous warnings, she decides to have no choice but to kill all of the characters in the game as punishment.
In the next level, she blocks Sonic's path after he reaches the goal sign, telling him that he can't escape the consequences. After Sonic glitches through the floor, he lands on another platform, which ends with a small chasm in the ground, causing Sonic to fall down in it. Darrell then appears once more, static covering her almost completely, as she then mutilates Sonic to the point his only remains is just his bloody, disembodied head. She then declares to the player that the game is not over yet, before Sonic's head jumpscares the player.
The screen then shows the Sonic goal sign, but this time, it is bloody and Sonic's eyes are black with red pupils. Darrell then angrily wishes the player an eternal goodbye before the screen cuts to the Star Light Zone, where the player now plays as Tails, who is surrounded in darkness, not allowing him to see anything other than a small distance around him. For some strange reason, his lives counter is now named Gwen. Eventually, Tails encounters the disembowled corpse of Sonic laying right in front of him and the goal sign. Darrell then asks the player if they want more, as she then forces Tails down through the floor, the screen flashing in the process.
Tails is then transported in the Darrell Rives Zone, an empty, raining landscape with a gray sky. He eventually reaches the end of the level, in front of a cliff, where Darrell tells the player to focus on her name, before Tails jumps down into the water below, killing him instantly. Gwen then appears in frotn of the player, warning them about Darrell and wantign them to turn off the game for their own safety. Afterward, the player is taken to the Scrap Brain Zone Act 1, now playing as Knuckles, traveling around the level to reach the goal as usual, but as he moves closer to the goal, static slowly fades in on the screen. Reaching the goal sign, he is taken to Act 2, where after Knuckles falls down to another floor, a woman flickers right in front of the player and static is shown again, but more intense than before.
Eventually, Darrell declares that Knuckles is the last victim on her list, before he is blocked by a black and white checkered wall(possibly a laser) and forced to fall down in the large gap below him, taking him to Act 3, where everything is now in a color scheme of purple and white. Once the level is finished, the player is then taken to the Final Zone, where Knuckles is now standing behind the laser that previously blocked his path. As he moved on, however, a pillar fell down and Knuckles was trapped in the room where Eggman was supposed to be in the original game. A small, purple energy ball is then shot on the pillar, causing an alarm. Darrell then speaks to Gwen once again, telling her that she can't be complete, before burning Knuckles alive with a wave of lava rising up towards him.
After Knuckles's death, the player is taken to one final level, now playing as a corrupted Sonic in a completely red-tinted Green Hill Zone, where he finds a large ring a few meters behind him. Darrell then tells them to finish what they had started, as Sonic jumps inside the ring, ending the game.

- She is one of the antagonists in the EXE game universe to not be an EXE and is even based on a real-life television series called Malory Towers, where Darrell Rivers serves as the protagonist.
