Biography[]
Rise to power[]
The man who became known as Darth Nihilus was a survivor of the Mandalorian Wars. He was on Malachor V when the Mass Shadow Generator was activated. Becoming a Wound in the Force, the man had the ability to drain the Force off of others, and eventually, the man came to the Trayus Academy to be trained as a Sith Lord under Darth Traya. He eventually completed his training and became a Sith Lord, becoming Darth Nihilus, the Lord of Hunger. Along with Darth Traya, Lord of Betrayal, and Darth Sion, the Lord of Pain, the three eventually formed an united the remnants of Darth Revan's Sith Empire under their rule, forming the Sith Triumvirate. However, Nihilus and Sion grew tired of Traya's careful planning and teachings, and overthrew her and stripped her of power, exiling her, thinking it would be a more fitting punishment for her. With Traya gone, the value of the Sith Triumvirate began to fall apart, and Nihilus and Sion went their own, separate ways. Nihilus led his own fleet and a portion of the Sith Triumvirate while Sion led his own portion. Nihilus began draining planets of the Force, killing billions just to satiate his hunger and sadism. He also took a young apprentice, manipulating her and slowly raising her so that she could be a powerful tool.
Darth Nihilus eventually led his own Jedi Purge, massacring the Jedi. What remained of the Jedi fled to the planet Katarr, where they discussed how to defeat the Sith. Nihilus tracked them their, and drained the Force off of the planet, killing everyone and everything that lived in it, including the Jedi. One lone survivor was there, Visas Marr, and Nihilus thought that she may be of use for him, so he takes her as his apprentice, and formed a Force bond with her, and psychologically being abusive and torturing her for over a long time.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: Return of the Exile[]
Darth Nihilus doesn't appear in the film that much, but he does appear close to the ending, where his apprentice Visas Marr comes and informs Nihilus of a disturbance in the Force. Nihilus senses it as well, and realizes that the presence was a former Jedi called Zekk Vorrn. The Dark Lord tasks Visas Marr in hunting down the Exile, as Vorrn was called, and threatened to give her a painful death if she refused to do so.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Lost Masters[]
Darth Nihilus first appears contacting his other apprentice, an unnamed Sith, after his other apprentice, Visas Marr, failed. Nihilus ordered his apprentice to hunt down and find the Exile, so that she may bring the Exile to him and that he may kill him. Later, Nihilus contacted his apprentice again, telling her that Visas Marr had betrayed him, joining the Exile. Nihilus ordered his apprentice that he wants Marr to die painfully.
Darth Nihilus also orchestrated the attack on Onderon, being in command of General Vaklu. Nihilus later appears in a hologram before General Vaklu. Nihilus threatened to kill Vaklu for failing, but Vaklu gave Nihilus some valuable information. Nihilus, thinking that Vaklu might be of some use to him, decides to spare the general.
After failing her mission, the apprentice returned to her master, Darth Nihilus. Nihilus force chokes her, threatening to kill her, trying to prove herself to Nihilus, the apprentice gave the Dark Lord valuable information about the location of the Jedi on Telos !V. Nihilus, pleased, decides to spare his apprentice's life, and orders his commander aboard his ship, the Ravager, to set course for Telos. Nihilus orders the commander to hack the controls systems of Telos, and orders his ships to attack the planet. Nihilus, in his own language, laughs as he sees his plan going perfectly well in motion, as the movie ends.
Personality[]
Unlike his original counterpart, who was derived of almost all human emotions and had no intention but to satisfy his hunger in order to survive, this version of Nihilus is far more sapient and cruel than his original counterpart. This version of Darth Nihilus is a egoist who enjoys the actions he commits, viewing and calling himself a god, intending on becoming one by consuming all of the Force and life from the galaxy. He takes sadism in killing people, as shown when he orders his apprentice to kill Visas Marr, intending on watching her die painfully. Nihilus is unwilling to dispose of minions that may be useful to him, so the Dark Lord spares some of his failed minions if he thinks they have further use for him.
Nihilus also seems to be a very corrupting influence, as shown when his apprentice states that he has raised her and made her his apprentice since she was a child, effectively brainwashing her and manipulating her to the point where she has absolute loyalty to her master, even though he doesn't care for her and threatened to kill her several times.
