Well, well, well, old sport. Wait a minute, how did you get into my house?
~ Dave's first spoken lines to Mike
Basically, it's this dusty-ass Candy's Burger's and Chips rip-off called Freddy Fazbender's Pepperonerie. What's gonna happen is, me and Phoney are gonna lock you inside this building overnight and you gotta somehow survive.

(Mike: Well is the pay any good?)

What f*cking pay? We're gonna lock you inside this building overnight and hope that you survive. Anyways, it ain't too bad, you got me as your boss, kinda. And you only got one thing to do, guard the B A L L P I T. Oh, and also don't let any schmuck steal my lunch.

(Mike: That's two things.)

Shut the hell up, keep in mind that I know where you're loved ones live.

~ Dave describing Mike's future job

William Afton, also known as The Purple Guy or as his undercover name Dave Miller, is the main antagonist of the 2023 film Dayshift at Freddy's: The Movie.

He is a deranged serial killer, who despite posing as a Fazbender Entertainment Associate, is actually looking to shut down all that remains of Freddy Fazbenders as revenge for them ruining his dreams as well as those of his business partner Dr. Henry Miller. To achieve this goal, he manipulates his daughter, Vanessa Appleton, as well as Michael Bono "Mikey" Schmidt. He is able to manipulate the possessed robots of Freddy's to do his will using the power of crayon drawings, making him even more dangerous of a threat.

He was portrayed by Matthew Lillard who also portrayed Stu Macher.

History[]

Early Days[]

From a young age, William Afton was cast out of an orphanage after being abandoned by his parents, and due to the fact that no one would adopt him due to him being a rotting, purple corpse. Trying his best to survive in New York in the 50's, William eventually came across a travelling circus hosted by the obese, pink man known as Dr. Henry Miller. Amazed by what Henry could perform, he helped Henry open Fredbear's Family Diner somewhere around the 70s to 80s. William and Henry were mass-murdering buddies, constantly luring and killing innocent children in the diner purely for the thrill of getting away with it. Henry would even later murder Peter and Dee Kennedy outside of the restuarant, hiding their corpses inside a Candy's Burger and Chips location, due to Candy Co. being their biggest rival. William, viewing this as a competition, would venture out to Nebraska to murder Michael Bono "Mike" Schmidt Jr., the youngest son of Steve Stevenson, who would ironically later go on to be a Phone Guy. The duo would find a companion with Doug Lawyer, an attorney who would bail them out of many sticky situations, granted through threat of torture and death. However, Henry met his fate in 1983, due to some kind of springlock failure. Fredbears was later brought out by Fazbender Entertainment, even taking the Fredbear character. Not even the efforts of Doug could prevent this. This caused William to seek revenge on Fazbender Entertainment. Under the new name of "Dave Miller", he would find a job as a Fazbender Entertainment Associate. From here, he would begin his attack on Fazbender Entertainment. He would do this by finding bottom-of-the-barrel felons and blackmailing them to work as a security guard at the restaurant. From there, he would control the animatronics, who were possessed by the spirits of the dead children that he had murdered at each location, by manipulating them with crudely drawn crayon drawings. He would use this power to manipulate the idiotic animatronics to murder the hired guard. Or he would ensure that the people hired would be so incredibly incompetent and unqualified for the job that they would end up getting the place shut down. Which was his main goal, to get every last Freddy's location shut down. He would even manipulate his daughter Vanessa, a police officer, to destroy all evidence relating to his old life and Henry. Eventually Dave would be left with only one last Freddy's to destroy.

Dayshift at Freddy's: The Movie[]

The old sport, himself, before getting caught by the monster.

A few days before the beginning of the movie, Dave would hire a man named Jack Kennedy (who was actually the brother of Peter and Dee, unknown to Dave), who had been assigned to a previous location as daytime security guard by Dave and was later fired on charges of yiffing the Foxy, to work as a nightguard. Dave would soon develop an obsession with Jack and would tell him that if he was able to survive five nights at Freddy's that he would take him with him on a vacation to Vegas, where blackjack and hookers await. Jack had made it for the majority of the week, however, would meet his demise on the final night after the monster known as Old Bear Consequences that resided inside the inter dimensional ballpit managed to escape containment. This resulted in Jack being dragged into the ballpit, where an eternity of Scrabble and Connect 4 awaits him. Jack was initially satisfied with this being his eternity now, but soon The Real Fredbear would appear. The Real Fredbear claimed that Old Bear Consequences still owed him tokens. Old Bear Consequences would hand Jack over to The Real Fredbear to make up for the absent tokens. The Real Fredbear, not really wanting Jack all that much would return Jack to Freddy's. The next day, Jack would decide that he's had enough and would beg to be returned to dayshift, which the Phone Guy would eventually do. That same day, Jack would be strangled to death by Phone Guy for "encouraging guests to immigrate party rooms". Phone Guy would later be sent to prison for his crime. Dave, distraught over the seeming demise of his old sport would blame his fate on his daughter Vanessa, who was supposed to keep close to the operation at all times, instead of what she was actually doing that day, which was busting a gang of children who had been dealing illegal hallucinogens.

Dave's disappointment of a daughter

Later on, he would meet a man named Michael Bono "Mikey" Schmidt, who had only a few days before then been fired from his job as a security guard at DoggoLand due to murdering a man, murdering the man's son, murdering the old lady that was standing next to him and then slapping a screaming 6-year-old girl in the face, all due to mistakenly believing that the man was smuggling a stolen doggo. Either way, Mike would find himself meeting with Dave to discuss a future career.

The embarrassing washup known as Mike

As soon as Mike walked into the office, Dave pickpocketed his credit card from him, without him noticing. Dave then proceeded to forget why he was meeting Mike until his 90-year-old receptionist handed him a file with Mike's name and mugshot on it. At that point, he remembered why his services where needed. Immediately, Dave took a liking to Mike, being a murderer as well. He then attempted to read the file given to him in order to better assess the situation, however, he soon remembered, that he can't read. He then proceeded to ask Mike to read the piece of paper for him, which he did. Dave then proceeded to offer Mike a kabab, an offer which he declined. Not that it mattered anyways because Dave didn't even actually have any kababs, only coffee, as he was banned from using sticks to eat with ever since the '98 incident. After returning to his desk, Dave then proceeded to offer Mike a job at Freddy Fazbender's. However, after Dave explained the job, Mike would turn it down, because his father, Steven Stevenson, happened to be the Phone Guy at this location (obviously before his arrest), and the place brings up troubling childhood memories. Much to the annoyance of Dave. Later that day, Dave would stalk Mike home and break into his house, hiding in Mike's closet overnight, watching him sleep. When morning came, Mike awoke to Dave in his bathroom, using his toothbrush. Dave then explained that he had more than enough dirt on Mike to get him sent to the electric chair, if he wanted to. So, Mike then reconsidered his offer, and decided to go along with it. It was also here where Dave realized that Mike was Steve Stevenson's son, as well as remembering that Mike caused the Bite of '87, which impresses Dave.

After this confirmation, Dave would find the prison cell of Steve Stevenson. After hearing of his son's hiring, Steve became distraught due to the realization that Freddy's was doomed. Dave would leave the ex-phone guy to wallow in his grief. Steve would later be destroyed by the company either way and was replaced by Jack Kennedy, ironically. Dave, as well as his daughter, would stalk Mike throughout the week, both at his job and elsewhere. For Dave, this was mostly so that he could film and photograph Mike to use for blackmail purposes later. Dave would also Mike in increasingly dangerous situations and predicaments, in an attempt to either kill or humiliate him. For Vanessa, her reasoning for stalking Mike was because, unknown to her father, she had developed a massive crush on him. Dave would also attempt to convince Mike to join him in his child murdering ways, but after some careful consideration, Mike declined. Angering Dave even more.

Initially, Mike had been hired as a dayshift guard, however, after making one too many antisemitic jokes while performing to 6-year-olds, he was replaced to nightshift for his last day of the week. When Friday arrived, Dave noticed that Mike both wasn't dead yet, and also that the place was still open. Furious by both these revelations, Dave suited up in his prized Yellow Rabbit suit, the one that he had used for every one of his murders. He then stole Vanessa's car keys so she could not interfere with the plan, also because he doesn't have a car, himself. Dave would eventually show up at Freddy's and would attempt to kill Mike, himself.

Alternate Ending #1[]

It was at this moment, that Abby, Mike's annoying-as-sin adopted younger sister quickly called upon the assistance of The Real Fredbear. The Real Fredbear would appear and engage in battle with Dave, who at this point had been revealed as William Afton. During the massive battle, Dave would be defeated and as he fell to his knees, already on the brink of death, the springlocks in the suit would go off, but not before he could hurl as many insults to the animatronics surrounding him as possible, adding further to his already severe pain. The animatronics, who had also just discovered that they were manipulated by a damned drawing, dragged off the dying Dave to a saferoom, as the employee rules state to do. The next day, Mike is fired due to trashing the restaurant, and due to his generally strange behavior. However, before he was able to leave, the somehow revived and already rotting Dave/William would appear, now under the new name of Davetrap. Mike and Davetrap would engage in battle once more. Midway through the fight, Davetrap decides that this isn't worth the effort, and he stops fighting before lunging at Phone Guy, taking a massive bite out of his head, as the screen fades to red before returning to Phone Guy's grave. The camera pans out as we Phone Guy's coffin lowered, surrounded by various characters, including Davetrap, as the movie ends.

Alternate Ending #2[]

As soon as Mike realized that Dave was trying to murder him, he decided to escape the premise out of nearby fire exit, leaving Abby behind with Dave and the animatronics. Mike would then spend the rest of the night relaxing, watching tv and eating exotic butters. The following morning, Mike would get a phone call explaining that he was to be placed back onto dayshift duty, as he was clearly dangerously incompetent in the position that he was in. Phone Guy further explained that Mike was to wear a Fredbear springlock suit to entertain at a birthday party. Little did Mike know that after he fled, Dave would murder Abby before modifying the Fredbear springlock suit that Mike was supposed to wear. Wanting to witness his plan unfold, Dave would arrive at the restaurant himself, planning to don his Yellow Rabbit suit and "perform" alongside Mike, securing him a front-row seat to the show. When Mike put on the suit, he did notice an odd feeling around his joints, but he didn't think much of it. He also noticed Dave in his suit. Unfortunately, there was nothing he could do about it, because he was set to perform. Dave would begin the performance, before passing it off to Mike. However, as soon as Mike began, his suit awoke. The suit would then announce its sentience before then setting off its springlocks, killing Mike. The suit would then proceed to go on a killing spree. Dave would attempt to fight him off with a nearby folding chair. However, Dave would end up getting his frontal lobe bitten out, putting him into a coma, as the movie ends.

Alternate Ending #3[]

As soon as Mike realized that Dave was trying to murder him, he decided to escape the premise out of nearby fire exit, leaving Abby behind with Dave and the animatronics. Mike would then spend the rest of the night relaxing, watching tv and eating exotic butters. The following morning, Mike would get a phone call explaining that he was to be placed back onto dayshift duty, as he was clearly dangerously incompetent in the position that he was in. Phone Guy further explained that Mike was to wear a Fredbear springlock suit to entertain at a birthday party. Little did Mike know that after he fled, Dave would murder Abby before planting evidence, that would frame Mike for his crimes. Dave would then tell Vanessa to report the "evidence" to the authorities. Dave's plan was to not only get Mike arrested, but also to humiliate him by getting him arrested at the restaurant, during his performance. Wanting to witness his plan unfold, Dave would arrive at the restaurant himself, planning to don his Yellow Rabbit suit and "perform" alongside Mike, securing him a front-row seat to the show. When Mike suited up, he noticed Matt, a fellow employee, whispering something into Phone Guy's ear, something that visibly alarmed him. He also noticed Dave in his suit. Unfortunately, there was nothing he could do about it, because he was set to perform. Dave would begin the performance, before passing it off to Mike. Mike's performance ran smoothly, worrying Dave, until the cake-giving ceremony began. Mike was to hand the "birthday boy" his cake, whilst Dave entertained the audience. However, the "birthday boy" was not a child at all, rather he was a dwarf in a baby mask. Dave then burst out laughing, with the reality of the situation finally hitting him. Mike was frozen with fear. It was then that the cardboard cutouts that where the "children in the audience" fell over, and the police jumped from behind their covers. Mike was unmasked, forced onto his knees, and arrested; all the while Dave continued to laugh like a hyena. Mike tried to tell the officers that they were misinformed, and that Dave was the true murderer, but the officers did not believe him. It was then that Phone Guy stepped in and confirmed Mike's claims, that Dave was the true murderer. The officers dropped the innocent man and turned to look at Dave who had actually snuck out as soon as he realized that Phone Guy was going to rat him out. Fortunately, there was also an entire squad of police cars lined outside. Making escape impossible. Dave was then arrested and thrown into prison for the rest of his life. Until getting murdered by his cellmate, and old employee of Candy's Burgers and Chips, one of Freddy's few rivals.

Appearance[]

"Human"[]

In his normal attire, Dave resembles a middle-aged man with short, neatly trimmed and styled hair and a goatee. He also wears prescription glasses, along with a casual, tan button up shirt and a purple tie. Notably, however, is Dave's purple skin. Although the specific reason for his skin being purple is never given, it is implied that he has been reanimated from the dead.

The Yellow Rabbit[]

While disguised, Dave is shown wearing a withered yellow rabbit springlock suit with gaping holes exposing wires on its right side, a purple bowtie and two black buttons on its chest. It's also missing a part of its right ear. The springlock mechanisms of the costume make Dave seem bulkier and taller, when in reality is shown to be very scrawny.

Personality[]

Dave is a general menace to those around him. He has a disturbing obsession with murdering children and generally finds amusement from people's suffering. He is a deranged psychopath with no remorse and no regards to the wellbeing of other outside of himself. He is also shown to be incredibly manipulative and cunning. He is generally incredibly intelligent. His most notable trait is his sadism and all-around cruelty. Another less shown and more implied trait of his is his abusive nature. With him being shown to be both psychologically and emotionally as well as possibly physically abusive towards those close to him, especially his daughter. Despite all this, he is able to feel compassion for people he does genuinely care about. The only examples shown of this are with Henry and Jack, however. In both cases, he was incredibly upset by their deaths. He does also have a silly side to him. Which does make sense as almost every crime of his is done because he finds it funny.

Quotes[]

Holy shit, you're Steve's kid. Say, you're that kid that caused the Bite of '87. Gotta, say I am kind of impressed with that whole thing. Damn shame it wasn't fatal, though.

Hey, you racist old son of a bitch, hope you don't got an issue with me hiring your pathetic son to work at my kiddie-killin'-factory. Either way, not really up to you. Don't even know why I stopped by. Kiss my ass. You deserve death.
