~ Deacon Helfyre to the Champions |
Deacon Michael Helfyre, also known as Brother Helfyre or simply The Deacon is the secondary antagonist of Pandora Hunters. He is a former witch hunter, paladin, turned satanist, and a leader of homicidal gang who helped Ezekiel Stayne/Maestro's rule over the city of Anarchy Oaks through fear, and force people into worshiping demons. He is in a way, responsible for Maestro's rise for power over Anarchy Oaks because it was his cult that summoned him onto the town. After being defeated by the Champions and sent to prison, namely Benlock Diablo, he sworn vengeance and made a deal with Remiok Sethos (a demonic form of Ezekiel Stayne/Maestro) which in turn gained demonic powers. He is one of Ben Diablo's worst enemies along with Mortem and Niklovich.
Biography[]
Back in the day, Michael was a christian who lived in a supernatural city called Anarchy Oaks, he soon left to join the U.S. Military on 2001. When he came back, he dropped his religion and humanity when he saw visions of Hell itself during his near death experience, and liked what he saw and intended to make his own version on Earth. He became a devoted satanist, burglar, a serial killer and a thug who murders people off the streets for human sacrifices He later a worshiper of Remiok Sethos/Maestro, forming a cult that soon summoned Maestro himself onto the city, an assisted him in gaining control over Anarchy Oaks and establish a tyrannical regime onto it. Malcolm uses his cult to form a homicidal gang which forces people into worshiping demons and other horrific beings such as Remiok Sethos, Niklovich, and Nekrozoth. Using fear and intimidation to enforce his belief onto others and to maintain the order of the Maestro.
During the Anarchy Oaks arc of Forces, He and his gang would later face the Champions Jack Spark, Akuma, and Benlock Diablo, who after witnessing the oppression and tyranny from Maestro's men came to free the people of Anarchy Oaks. When his gang return to him beaten up and bruised after their fight with the champions, they informed him about their arrival and plans to dethrone Stayne/Maestro from dictatorship of the city. Malcolm informed Ezekiel Stayne about it, and was given a group of mercenaries at his command to stop them, assigning psychotic criminals such as Smokey the Creep, Diabolus, and the psychotic fanatic William Washington. He was okay with harming innocent people, raiding their homes and burning them down in order to lure out the Champions. When they finally face the champions, he and his own gang of mercenaries and fanatics engage in combat, with Malcolm facing Ben Diablo in a fight. However he soon lost the fight, and was forced to retreat back to base to gain reinforcements.
Later on in the arc, he participated in Ezekiel Stayne's ritual in summoning the Prime Omegas which in turn would cause the destruction of civilization itself including Anarchy Oaks. When the Champions once again interfered, he and his gang tried to stop them but was defeated and locked up in prison at the end of the arc, while Maestro makes his escape back to Hell. He soon makes his return later on in the "Wrath of the Maestro" saga being far dangerous than before. Bitter and wanting revenge, he summoned a avatar of Maestro and was given demonic powers and used them to kill everyone in the prison. Both prisoner and prison guard where killed, and he absorbed their souls and sent them to hell. He later made a new cult worshiping The Maestro, sacrificing the souls of children to satisfy his master and wanting to bring him to the human world. He also wants to get his revenge on Ben Diablo for putting him in prison in the first place, and wanted to make him and his friends suffer as long as possible. He continues his servitude to The Maestro by assisting him in his various schemes across the series.
In his next appearance, he became drunk with his own power, wants to destroy the planet and remake it in his image after he summons every demon from Hell to destroy it. He starts kidnapping people left and right and have them sacrificed in order to summon demons, and used these demons to eat people. His plans were again foiled by the Champions, which driven him to anger and madness went on a killing spree, killing everyone getting in his way. He was stopped when Jack Spark and Ben Diablo were forced to kill him, knowing there was no point in redeeming him in the first place.
Personality[]
“ | Humanity... Are a blight upon the world, they do nothing but kill and destroy anything touch. They deserve to be destroyed, they all are nothing but a disgusting breed of disease and pestilence.. | „ |
~ Deacon Helfyre showcasing his misanthropy. |
Helfyre is a misanthrope, who sees all of humanity as nothing but an ungodly disgusting race, dubbing them as a "vermin race". However this merely paints him as a hypocrite as he shows similar aspects to his victims. He was once a christian man back in the day before he was enlisted to the US military, however that was all that was known in his past and nothing more. When he saw Hell itself during his near death experience, he saw it as great and decided to worships the demons of the realm to gain power so that he could remake the Earth into his version of Hell. His obsession with demons and Hell lead him to seek to become one himself, seeing himself as above humanity and wanted to make his own version of Hell on Earth. He is willing to sacrifice others for his pursuit for demonic powers. He is violent, sadistic, aggressive, and homicidal, a barbaric sociopath, but he is soft spoken to others most of the time unless he is driven to psychotic rage. However while he is calm and collected, he is rather He is gladly willing to kill anyone he sees as a vermin, and is just as happy to kill, torture, maim, or mutilate for his own twisted sadism. He is not above sending people, such as children and women to Hell in order to succeed in his goals, and is happy to murder, torture, and mutilate those who gets in his way.
However, he was once honorable before being sent to prison as he once admired Ben's guts and bravery, and admits that he enjoyed battling them. However he soon dropped all of his noble traits and became much more depraved as time went on. Out of spite, he sought to torment Ben Diablo in anyway possible; such as killing his friends right in front of him, and brutally torturing him. All of his sense of honor were replaced with petty revenge and wrath along with a lack of a moral conscience and a thirst for power and would happily demonstrate his cruelty and remorselessness. While he does looses his honor and nobility, he still kept his love for battle and bloodshed but it only makes him a more barbaric savage. When he became a demon, he became a insane megalomaniac as he wants to make himself the most powerful demon on Earth and carve his name on the Multiverse.
He is actually very intelligent and deceptive, due to having military experience such as combat skills and martial arts. He can be quite charismatic yet authoritative, as he formed a cult and helped Maestro take control over Anarchy Oaks.
