Deadlock is the main antagonist of Parasite: Schizophrenia, a creepypasta novel created by FriendlyGrim (also known as AIEchidna).
A supernatural arctic wolf, Deadlock seeks to consume or torture anything that's living, determined to make anything and everything part of it's little game. However, soon it crosses paths with Henry and his group of friends due to them playing with a cursed board, releasing it from imprisonment. Now on the prowl and out to kill anything in it's path once again, it becomes the archenemy of Henry and co as Deadlock threatens to endanger the ones they love.
Appearance[]
The most prominent part of Deadlock's design is the translucent blue goo dripping from its body, covering most of its body.
Deadlock appears to resemble that of an arctic wolf in terms of body shape. However, it is shown to be completely mutilated and mutated. It has a ripped ear, that has blood etching down its side. Deadlock has a gaped maw, with bloodied gum spewing from it's mouth as well as cracked teeth.
For eye color, on its right eye, its eye is a bright hazel. However, on the left eye, it instead has a glowing emerald eye, the reasons for this are still up to speculation.
Size-wise, Deadlock is confirmed to be 7 feet and 11 inches, towering over most humans.
Interestingly, Deadlock can't communicate normally, as it only speaks through high-pitched garbled static, which it constantly uses as torture if need be.
Personality[]
“ | Whatever you do, don't let it get bored. | „ |
~ An unnamed survivor to Jessica |
Deadlock is completely sadistic and vile, enjoying the suffering of humans almost as much as it breathes.
Deadlock enjoys toying with its victims, constantly sending hallucinations and night terrors toward the victim until Deadlock reaches the victim or the victim kills themselves, the latter always being the more usual occurrence.
As it views itself as god, it doesn't give a damn about anybody else but itself, so much so it tricks several loyal members of it's cult (namely Zephyr) to do dirty work, hovering over their heads the literal hell it'd give them if they were to fail. Overall, even if the cult members do succeed, Deadlock shows no care for them, mainly due to the fact it knows it could take them all out in a foul hit.
It's made a point numerous times throughout the book (mainly by survivors or witnesses of an attack from Deadlock) to not let Deadlock get "bored" if the victim were to get themselves trapped in its game, as it is shown Deadlock will amplify the nightmares and hallucinations already in place, seemingly speeding up the suicide process.
Deadlock shows a high sign of self-awareness, much so as Deadlock is able to manipulate the story itself, as shown when Deadlock will add its own bits of text (sprawled in either goo or blood) throughout the novel, trying to state evident lies to mislead the reader (and by extension, Henry) from the key to trapping it again.
When Deadlock no longer has any use for a victim, it's stated it either kills (rather graphically) or eats the victim (showing it's predatory instincts). If they were to be consumed, their soul would be trapped with it permanently. It's implied one of the two fates are inevitable if a victim were to become a servant.
Powers/Abilities[]
Deadlock hosts a wide variety of powers and abilities that it can use to its will.
- Mind Control: Deadlock is able to manipulate any being it can get it's hands on, the most prominent being Amber Figgins, in which Deadlock made her murder two kids at her high school then proceeded to send her on a murdering spree as it took the souls she killed.
- Possession: Deadlock can take the form of several past iterations of separate characters and even deceased characters, such as Rose or Amber.
- Shapeshifting: It can shapeshift into any type of character it wants to, as shown when it shapeshifted into a variety of people/characters to taunt Henry.
- Advanced hearing: Deadlock has supernatural hearing, as it was shown to be able to hear a book fall from several floors down the stairs in it's cult.
- Supernatural speed: Deadlock possesses breakneck speeds, as Henry describes it's faster than he's ever seen a cargo move.
- Supernatural strength: This one seems to be temporarily, as Deadlock only possesses this when it gets angrier.
- Supernatural agility/stamina: When it's angrier, Deadlock gains more energy, which, in turn, causes it to gain faster abilities.
- Healing capabilities: Deadlock can heal itself relatively fast, as seen during one of it and Henry's chases.
Trivia[]
- Deadlock was heavily inspired by characters like IT and Ink Bendy.
