Dean Rivers (also known as the Second Mastermind) is one of the two overarching antagonists of the Grizzly Empire myth arc and the main antagonist of the Day of Unity myth arc. He also serves as the hidden main antagonist of Summer Edition 8: June Arc and is therefore the final antagonist of the entire Grizzly Empire myth arc. Due to being a bigger threat than his accomplice Agent P, he is the arch-nemesis of Zachary Delightful/Woodstock II.

History[]

He first made his mark when he and Perry work together to make the platypus appear as if he was a pawn to the Grizzly Empire. After Perry the Platypus was defeated, the second Mastermind took center stage to ensure the platypus had won. He started by igniting a prank war between kids and adults thus creating a tyrannical dictatorship. In order to distract the team from his plans, he frames the team for world domination by the MI6 and his actions that drive Dave Seville into a mental hospital wrote him off as an irredeemable agent just like Agent P. He also begins to resurface when he attempts to kill Ono and then kills Twilight Sparkle to crush Spike’s spirit. He then attacks Mr. Snake and captures him to have him executed by the Cult of Belos. Later on, he kills the Robot Smurf and captures the Wonder Pets, Unicorn, Dragon and Mr. Snake in order to achieve his plans for multiversal conquest. He also makes a plan to turn Perry the Platypus into a cyborg in order to aid the platypus in the pair’s conquering. Even though it fails, Perry nonetheless manages to ruin Zachary’s friendship with the Unikingdom. In order to infiltrate the Myles Bots and get closer to his target, Dean Rivers appears outside his Mastermind cloak and manipulates Lily Loud by rewarding her with an indestructible ice cream sundae if Zachary becomes physical like them once their hiatus is complete. He does the same to Hank by having him keep a smuggled slobber slug as a pet with the same end of the bargain that Rivers gave to Lily Loud with the knowledge being revealed. In order to infiltrate the team completely, he earns the trust of the remaining two members: Re and Mr. Snake. He manipulates Mr. Snake by rewarding him with guinea pig treats shall he make Zachary physical and does the same with Re by having her report the wildest story ever recorded in Swellview. Now amongst the group, he had planted distrust in the obvious scapegoat which was Spade Nifty, the bounty Hunter he hired to kidnap a pet raccoon to lure in a Loud to make his bonded pawn. The only character he openly reveals his true colors to is his target Zachary Delightful who had experience with false friends and people telling him what he wants to hear and is less gullible to the Mastermind’s true intentions. After the Jack the Clipper incident that caused kung fu to be outlawed throughout the Valley of Peace, he reveals his true colors to Re as well and also reveals that he wanted her akumatization to happen as to destroy her reputation and make her see Trent’s true nature after he was killed. After the final battle that led to Bunnicula’s final Face-Heel Turn and Perry the Platypus’ final defeat, Dean Rivers joins the group and earns the trust of the townspeople as well. At the beginning of his crime spree, the only people who know of his true nature as the inaugural Mastermind is Zachary Delightful (now Woodstock II) and Re due to the former’s broken pedestal status and the latter’s mask as the ditzy co-anchor to the late Trent Overunder. He eventually reveals his true face to Woodstock II and Squidina Star betraying the latter and brainwashing her. He also manipulates Hank and Lily Loud and also kills the latter’s father and her older brother Lincoln for good in order to crush Lily’s spirit. He also manages to gaslight Chip N Dale into hibernation and remorselessly attempts to kill Chip. After Lily and Hank realize Dean Rivers is the one responsible for the BND’s turn to darkness, they conclude that the college Dean is the original Mastermind. Realizing his true nature is now public to the three friends, he reveals his true face to the two friends and places Chip N Dale in a death trap intending to kill one of the two while akumatizing Bobby Santiago for good. He then reveals he and Perry were friends before Zachary and Perry became besties and that he plans on making superheroes and crime-fighting look bad by torturing the townspeople with a crime spree unable to be stopped by any superhero. He admits that Perry’s last victims were to be Woodstock II, Louie Duck, Penny Ling and the former’s sister Cottontail. However, Lily and Hank’s intervention along with Mr. Snake’s redemption thwarted Perry’s plans and killed him which is why he is not only targeting Woodstock II but his two friends as well intending on killing them and stopping their “rampage” thus becoming a hero in the town’s eyes. He proceeds to kill Dale thus crushing Chip’s spirit and causing the fully akumatized Wild Cat to condemn Rivers for his crimes. But before he can kill Lily and Hank, the two escape and fight off the college professor. He then escapes before he can be arrested by the Hero League when it is revealed that Woodstock II indeed reported him to the police thus redeeming themselves and becoming an official Myles Bot.

Appearance[]

He resembles Piper Shaw as Ghostface.

Personality[]

At first glance, he was another young student. However, it was all a mask to hide his true colors: an equally monstrous character with no empathy or remorse for his actions. He also shows loyalty to his accomplice Perry the Platypus to the point of trying to kill innocent civilians and causing more damage to the world than Agent P had ever done.

Trivia[]

  • He was marketed as a main character due to sharing the spotlight with the Myles Bots. However, he was revealed as the hidden secondary antagonist of the myth arc due to having as much importance as his accomplice. He eventually was revealed as the original mastermind.
