The Demon King is the overarching antagonist of the videogame Demon King's Heir.

Biography[]

The Demon King was the undisputed ruler of the kingdom of Heldenland, terrorizing its people from his castle with his army for ages until one day, the hero Mordred went on a quest to defeat him, acquiring the legendary sword Legendia, the only weapon against which he was vulnerable. With that sword, the heroes raided his castle and Mordred managed to reach his throne room, slaying him in combat. However, before dying, the Demon King told the hero about a prophecy talking about an heir that would appear 300 years into the future, who would be the key to his revenge. Until then, the humans managed to drive all monsters away from the kingdom, forcing them to live in the wasteland that would be named "Dämonland", from where they would plot how to reconquer the kingdom. Also, the cult led by Eleanor went into hiding and its loyals scattered across the country.

300 years later, the Demon King was revived by Eleanor after she tricked the heir, a young demon called Shogun, to help her acquire the Legendia. Right after reviving, the Demon King was teleported back to his old castle by Eleanor and began reassembling his army, supervising the recovery of the remnants of his old generals and their revival by Eleanor's necromancy, and also meeting his new soldiers from other living monsters still loyal to him. He also saw how Eleanor destroyed the Legendia so it couldn't be used against him again.

However, Shogun's unit managed to forge a second Legendia and, thanks to the help of their allies, get passed his massive undead army to the Demon King's Castle. There, they managed to defeat all the old generals of the Dark Forces and clash with him and Eleanor in his throne room. At that point, the Demon King had become deeply disappointed with the results of Eleanor's defense strategy, and simply told her to retreat after her defeat at the hands of the heroes. When facing Shogun face to face, he gave him one last chance to join him, but the young demon refused and defeated him shortly afterwards. Fearing for his death, the Demon King tried to tell him about a new prophecy that foretold a second revival, but the demon killed him before he could finish.
