| ~ Anastasia makes a deal with the demonic spirits |
Demons, also known as Rasputin's Demons, are supporting antagonists in the "Disney Princesses but they're Villains" series of songs by British musical artist Lydia the Bard, serving as minor characters in Anastasia's villain song and animatic. They are Anastasia's minions who enact her plans to exact revenge on all of Russia and rule the country.
Biography[]
Seeking revenge on Tsar Nicholas II and his family for banishing him, Grigori Rasputin sold his soul to the forces of darkness. This gave him a powerful dark reliquary as well as demonic spirits to do his bidding. The demons aided him in massacring the Russian royal family, but Nicholas' mother Marie and his young daughter, Anastasia, escaped. Rasputin tried to murder her on a frozen river but the ice broke and he drowned.
Rasputin's sidekick Bartok kept the reliquary and when it sensed that Anastasia was still alive, it came back to life and flew down to limbo where Rasputin was. Bartok told Rasputin that Anastasia hadn't died with her family and Rasputin summoned his demons to destroy her.
Meanwhile, Anastasia, going by the name Anya, travels to Paris with two con men, Dimitri and Vladimir, who plan to pass her off as the lost Grand Duchess Anastasia to claim a reward from her grandmother. They are unaware she is the real Anastasia, and when Dimitri finds out that she is, he attempts to tell Marie the truth, but she refuses to listen. She does the same with Anastasia even after she shows her the music box Marie had given to her when she was a child. Anastasia becomes desperate and tries approaching the Empress, causing her to call the guards on her. Anastasia flees from the guards and police, hiding away in the streets of Paris.
As Anastasia dwells on her feelings, she grows bitter and resentful towards Dimitri for lying to her, Marie for rejecting her, and all the Russian people whom she blamed for the murder of her family and the loss of her birthright. She grows angry and vengeful, swearing to reclaim what rightfully belongs to her and make the Russian people pay. She develops a plot, knowing the undead Rasputin is still after her.
She meets Rasputin on a snowy bridge, and feigns surrender as she approaches him. Once close enough, she steals his reliquary and runs off with it. Though she expects the spirits within to attack her, they do not. She makes a deal with the demonic spirits in the reliquary that if they give her power, she will let them rule the empire alongside her.
Some time later, Anastasia uses her newfound dark powers to kidnap Dimitri and the Empress. She usurps the throne, convincing the Russian people she was welcomed back. At a ball introducing her as the new Empress of Russia, she reveals her demonic allies and attacks the people in attendance. She sics the demons out on all the people across Russia, declaring that she will take Russia hostage and rule over it as a tyrant, determined to make them pay for rebelling against the Romanovs and stealing her family and past from her. She keeps Dimitri and Marie tied at her table, proclaiming that they are now her "brand new family," whether they like it or not.
Consumed by her desire for retribution, Anastasia, her eyes now glowing a sickly green, revels in her revenge, sending waves of demon forces across the country and grinning with glee.
Personality[]
The demonic spirits are extremely loyal, follow the orders of their master without question. They are shown to make deals, as they gave Anastasia power when she told them she could give them the "true power" they deserve.
They have no qualms about attacking the Russian people when Anastasia orders them to do so. They also do not care about the victim's age or condition, as they murder an innocent mother and child.
