Grand Vizier Denver Luss is one of the main antagonists of the 2018 TV series Lords of Iron.

He is the tyrannical grand vizier and aristocrat of Capister, who later conquered the kingdom of Slovatia by killing it's king, who is his own father.

He serves as a supporting antagonist of the first season, a major antagonist of the second season and one of the three main antagonists (along with Burt Hensey and Scartel) of the third and final season.

He is portrayed by Gabriel Byrne.

History[]

Background[]

Denver Luss came from the royal family of Slovatia, a kingdom which his father Kraten Luss ruled for many years.

He was abused by his father and his two big brothers, so he decided later in life to run away from his house and join the inner circle of Capister's aristocrats. His plans were ultimately succesful, and he slowly climbed up to the top as he eventually reached the rank of Capister's grand vizier.

Season 1[]

Denver is firstly seen riding a horse to the location of Capister's castle. He and the other aristocrats speak, and during the conversation in which they strategize many future attacks and battles against their opposition, King Agrellius Terradon enters the room and declares war on Treetopia. However, Denver remarks that it's too early to loose many soldiers. Despite his warning, Terradon prefers to start a massive war anyway.

Denver is one of the commanding officers of the war, and he even trains his men and is seen speaking to them before the fearsome battle begins.

He also told his men to show no mercy and not to return home with a clean sword. Denver and his men, along with the other forces and Terradon himself, have all lost the battle to Treetopia's forces and Denver noted that Capister has lost it's power since most of the soldiers were killed during the battle. Denver promises revenge.

He later goes to a pub in Killega as he knows that the barman knows about the whereabouts of his own father and big brothers. Denver tortures the barman and recieves the map to the location.

Season 2[]

Denver Luss then rides his horse towards his father at Slovatia, and he is followed by a squad of his own soldiers and two archers. He enters the throne room of Slovatia along with his guards and his archers, and he then confronts his father, thus revealing that he never truly loved him and he suffered a lot from his abuse. He also revealed that he has come for both revenge and political agendas. He also explains that Agrellius Terradon is a better ruler than him.

Kraten begs for forgiveness and admits that he might have been a good king or a good hero, but he was never good enough to his own son. Denver remarks that it is too late and stabs Kraten in the abdomen, thus killing his own father.

The brothers entered the scene and before they could call for help, Denver backstabs them both. Denver takes over the lands of Slovatia and the guards of the castle bow down to him after a rough battle.

He later makes a deal with Kordan who happens to be a mercenary for hire and a great enemy for Dunner Charlion. The two bargain that if Kordan kills Dunner, Denver shall help him become a king by usurping many thrones and building his empire.

Kordan however fails on his mission, and Denver orders him to be executed, thus mentioning that he is lucky that he's not dying in Jostan's skinning room.

Dunner then continues his duty as he gets tired of being bossed around by the Terradon royal family, who treat him as a pawn or a useless bodyguard. He stood up infront of them, and Agrellius Terradon warned him that if he shall continue like this, he shall be exciled and then hunted like a dog. He formed an alliance with one of his lietuants Scartel and they both went to negociate with Treetopia as against the Terradon family. However, Scartel later betrays him and kills a Treetopia general, before Denver and the latter from Treetopia manages to defeat him and send Scartel back to his own kingdom.

Denver later witnesses that Capister is being destroyed completely. He runs off to Slovatia and when he arrives, he forms an alliance with Dymak Herrod and his many soldiers and guards. He calls the alliance "Denveruss".

Season 3[]

Denver Luss later comes to confront the Charlion royal family at the castle of Treetopia. He warns them about a war that he is planning to start and he promises that many kingdoms shall serve him during the battle since he plans to conquer them.

Denver later goes to the dungeon and visits one of the prisoners in that dungeon. The prisoner is actually no other than his brother's son, the 12 year old Sackerson Luss. Sackerson asks him why he is doing all this and Denver explains that love is his weakness, and that if he would love his enemies he would be killed. Sackerson then asked if he himself is an enemy. Denver replies that everyone is his enemy, and Sackerson starts crying. While Sackerson cries, Denver leaves and orders his many militants to prepare the attack in the woods.

Sackerson however manages to escape and finds his way to Treetopia, in which he warns Dunner and the royal family of what Denver is planning to do.

Denver Luss then goes with his many soldiers and men to the battle. However, Sackerson comes to him and tries to reason with Denver, thus explaining that an uncle must not kill his own nephew, and showing some respect and love towards Denver. Denver hugs the teenager, but all of a sudden, he stabs Sackerson in the heart.

After that shocking moment, the enraged Dunner orders his men to fight, and so does the massive battle begin. Denver's soldiers are all killed, and Denver surrenders, before he stabs Dunner in the chest. Dunner however returns to the castle and Shelda helps him recover from the injuries.

Denver however invades the castle while Dunner is being taken care of. Denver manages to kill all of the guards of the castle, but when he sneaks into the throne room and almost backstabs Dunner, Shelda notices him and stabs his abdomen. Denver then dies a few seconds after that.
