Depresso is a supporting antagonist in the SMG4 series, serving as a supporting character in Season 12 and a supporting antagonist in both Seasons 13 and 14.
He is an easily depressed clown that currently lives in the basement on SMG4's castle. He is also known for telling dry-humored jokes, which most people (including SMG4 and his gang) don't find funny.
Biography[]
SMG4: Mario Does It To Em[]
Depresso makes his debut but as a cameo: one of the spectators at the Mushroom Kingdom Costume Awards.
SMG4: Clown Fever[]
Depresso has a main role in this blooper and the one that inadvertently causes the events of the episode due to most of the citizens turning into clowns by making slight mistakes and accidents. He is first seen at the Water Supply Plant, looking sad. Later on, when SMG4 and Mario crash near the water plant, they find out that Depresso was the one causing this (although Depresso is unaware) and the reason he is sad is because his girlfriend, Geiru Toneido left him for not being the biggest clown in town. SMG4 agrees to make Depresso the biggest clown in town by performing with Mario, to which it fails miserably. Geiru comes back when SMG4 trips his camera and lights over (and later a few buildings) and cruelly rejects Depresso and gets interested in SMG4.
In the epilogue of the episode, he is in a bathroom and laughs at himself through the mirror and does the Joker stairs dance.
SMG4: Mario Screw In A Lightbulb[]
Depresso is seen at the basement of the castle where he is selling pingas growing pills. When Mario and SMG4 run past him, Depresso asks the Boos if they want the pingas pills. Mario then throws Depresso as a distraction for the Boos to get the pingas pills. In revenge for Mario throwing him at the Boos, Depresso re-inflates the deflated King Boo, so he can finish Mario and SMG4 off.
Lawsuit Arc[]
Depresso makes cameo appearances throughout the Lawsuit Arc, such as starring in a new Nintendo game Shigeru Miyamoto wants with original SMG4 characters. In one of the Nintendo games, he talks with Saiko in a roleplaying dating game, wishing that clown girls were an actual race. In SMG4: Nintendo Has Claimed This Video, Depresso, alongside the original SMG4 characters was erased/killed off temporarily by Lawyer Kong.
SMG4: THE NEW CASTLE!!![]
Depresso appears to have moved into the castle's basement/storage room. When Tari and Luigi explore the new castle, Tari tells Luigi there is nothing to be afraid of, only for Depresso to appear a second later, telling the two to go away because they are "interrupting his murders" and Tari and Luigi get out of the storage room in immense fright.
SMG4: Mario VS Skibidi Toilet[]
Depresso is seen in a flashback where he puts Prime on the toilet, presumably creating the Skibidi Toilets to life, possibly making him responsible for the events of the episode.
SMG4: Mario Goes Coo-Coo Crazy[]
Depresso is seen through the castle window where he is seen in the grass while Mario does his gaming montage as the days go by. Depresso builds a massive fort called Hobo Paradise with the help of some people, only to get demolished by the police afterwards, leaving nothing but him.
SMG4: War of the Fat Italians 2023[]
Depresso's first appearance in the WOTFI series. During Mission 11 (Vent Maze), SMG4 and SMG3 are being chased by a deformed Mario in the maze. They end up in a fork and they turn left (as the voters chose to do so). SMG4 then looks up ahead, he then sees the clown who is telling a joke to a rat after Marty banned him from performing the comedy routine in the casino, so he does it in the vents, to which he tells jokes to a dead mouse. Hearing Mario nearby, Three tells Depresso that Mario likes to hear his jokes, to which the clown gets excited about. He then tells Mario his jokes, to which Mario shows no interest or entertainment about. Mario then proceeds to shoot Depresso with a rifle.
SMG4: Super SMG4 Wonder[]
Depresso's head appears as a floating balloon, saying to Mario, "never buy no weed from the gas station, bro." The two then notice a tremor, to which Balloon Bowser appears, sending Balloon Depresso flying.
SMG4: The Infestation[]
Depresso is the main antagonist of the episode, which is extremely rare to happen to him. He is responsible for thousands of mice infesting the castle, to which SMG3 and Mario built a dome in the castle to prevent rats from his construction site, where he was going to build "III's COFFEE N' BOMBS" (which would later be open in the next blooper). Some time before the events of the bloopers, Depresso came across thousands of rats, who shared the same experience as him, like getting rejected by society and they seemed to like his jokes.
Depresso is first seen holding a fleeing Crisp Rat from Bob's machine gun hand and steps out of the shadows to reveal himself as the mastermind. He then congratulates Crisp for leading Four, Boopkins and Bob to the basement. He then tells Bob his backstory of how the last year or so, he has tried to make friends with everyone, only to be rejected. Then, the rats go into Depresso to merge himself as "the Lord of the Rats". Depresso easily overpowers Bob and is resistant to his rifle and bomb. He then says if Bob has any last words, Bob then says if he can play the flute one last time, to which Depresso confusingly accepts. Bob then plays the song of rats, to which rats escape from Depresso. After Mario cracks a hole through the basement from the surface of the Showgrounds, a few rats hold Depresso high up and take them with him due to the catchiness of the song.
Personality[]
As his name suggests, he becomes easily depressed and is shown to be very salty at times, as shown in SMG4: All I Want For Christmas Is Mario to FREAKIN BEHAVE.
When he moves into the New Castle, he seems to be on some terms with Marty and enjoying murdering people. He can also be rude to others at times, as he invited himself in the New Castle without SMG4's consent and harshly yelled at him to shut the door during his tour of the storeroom.
He also tries to make funny jokes to no avail to others, which is possibly one of the reasons he is depressed and would cause the events of SMG4: The Infestation.
Despite his misanthropic and nihilistic behavior, he deeply loves the rats.

Trivia[]
- Depresso has been slowly hated by fans simply for his design and the fact that he is a negative representative of depression.
- Depresso is very similar to Arthur Fleck, a.k.a Joker from the 2019 film of the same:
- Both were rejected by everyone around them, making them sympathetic.
- Both are suffering a mental health/personality disorder, Depresso suffering of depression and Arthur suffering of Pseudobulbar affect (PBA).
- Both eventually found a way to be appreciated, Depresso for the rats and Joker for the clowns.
- Both want get revenge to those who wronged them, Depresso for kill SMG4 gang because they abused him many times and Arthur causing massive anarchistic riots on Gotham City and destroying authorities.
- What makes Depresso a parody of Joker is the fact that in the end of SMG4: Clown Fever, the stair dancing scene is the same flight of stairs in the Joker movie.
