FINE. IS THAT WHAT YOU REALLY WANTED? Are you relieved now? I am stuck in this overly-medicated health-hole with bastard-tier so-called villains from every single reality until I learned whatever kind of so-called lesson. I WANT OUT!!! and when I come out, I WILL BE BACK WITH A VENGEANCE!!! I...WANT...OUT!!!!"
~ Derek's villainous breakdown as the reader discovers his imprisonment in the Therasylum, Also his final words of the Gospel of Derek.

Derek Ghastly is the main antagonist of the Cartoons by Matt Rising Universe (including the web comic series, The Rising Twins) He is the arch-nemesis of the Rising family and rival of the Time Demon. He is a parody of Bill Cipher, who is similarly evil.

He is an immensely powerful Mental Demon from the First Dimension who rules over the Anxiety Realm. Derek desires to bring fourth chaos across the rest of known existence by achieving a physical form and breaking the barrier between the Anxiety Realm and Earth, plunging the latter into an "eternal party" where he reigns supreme.

Appearance[]

Derek's original form is a floating blue pentagon with a single blue catlike eye in the center. He wears a dark blue suit and dark blue necktie, and has thin dark blue limbs. Derek's human form is of a deceased con artist named Daniel Beachwright, with light brown hair, wearing a dark blue blazer with a white shirt and sky blue tie and black pants. Derek also gains several glitchy cracks in his body after being resurrected in the Therasylum, being scars from his defeat at Matt's hands. He now wears an orange prison jumpsuit with an ankle monitor, as well as black shoes with white soles.

While possessing a person, the person's body will take on a pale tone to their skin and their eyes will appear to be entirely blue (both the sclera and the iris being both blue), similar to his own.

Personality[]

At first, Derek Ghastly appeared to be charming and charismatic in appearance, willing to help people with problems, but this easily changes within minutes, especially when he reveals himself to be a highly intelligent and manipulative individual.

Powers and Abilities[]

Since Derek is vastly powerful and competent, he is capable of taking over the world (which he failed to do). He cannot normally interact with the physical world while trapped inside the Anxiety Realm. Derek is also an expert manipulator, which when he tries not to lie, he doesn't outright tell the truth. However, he doesn't know everything in the universe, including Charlton's trickery.

When Derek is defeated by Matt, he gets sent to the Therasylum, which he now remains a self-contained disaster as he'll never likely be released until he learns his lesson.

Trivia[]

  • Derek is a parody of Bill Cipher
  • He was based on Lucifer
  • It is never clear what Derek truly is. While being called a "demon" or "beast" by other characters, creator Matt Rising has confirmed that this is just a name for lack of better description.
  • Derek originally had a villain song titled "Things Are Getting Stupid", but the song was cut due to time restraints.
