Diego Marston is the main antagonist of the Road to Heaven franchise. He is specifically an unseen villain in the Road to Heaven and the main antagonist of the 2021 fanmade western series Road to Heaven 2: Almost There and the posthumous overarching antagonist of the e-book Road to Heaven: Promises.

He is a ruthless retired criminal who would do anything in order to live a normal life as a rich citizen, even if it means that he has to kill many innocent people. He is also the former second in command of John Al's gang and is the archenemy of the protagonist Darren Thompkins and his son Jeremiah.

History[]

Diego is at first part of John Al's crew along with his rival and temporary ally, Darren Thompkins. However, as things get to bloody and violent for the gang, Darren and his wife Gizelle plan to leave John Al's crew behind and live a normal life. Diego also secretly wishes to usurp the gang and live a normal life later on, careless of wether the other people would survive or not. He manipulated the crew members and even used John Al, who promised everyone from his crew survival and money. Diego tries to convince John to support his plans of manipulating the civil war between the US and Mexico, so they can all live a normal life as soldiers (or at least he could). John Al slightly agrees to his ideas and takes a part in Diego's vicious plans.

Eventually, Darren and Gizellle leave the crew officially and start a normal life as they buy a new house and they also have a son called Jeremiah. Diego in response turns the gang against both Darren and John Al, thus making them believe that John wasn't good enough as a leader. Eventually, Darren was hired by Senior Agent Maxwell Byron and the other high-ranking members of the Agency as his task was to find Diego Marston and hunt him down. He then pretended to be ambushed by his own people, and when Darren found him, he believed the show and ran to rescue his old crew mate.

However, Diego revealed his true colors and the crew members took him to the torture chamber. Inside the torture chamber, Diego revealed his plans and motives to Darren, whom he tried to torture. Darren called him a monster and told him that he is never able to make any friends because he is a ruthless sociopath. Darren escapes, and John Al tries to kill Darren and lore him to the mountain. However, as John realizes that he's trapped and Darren aims a gun at him, John Al surrenders and throws his gun off the mountain. Darren asks John Al why he is helping such a monster do such things, and John replies that he never wanted this to happen, but that Diego is like his son. However, Diego and the other crew members started firing their bullets John and caused him to fall off the mountain while bleeding. Diego then reveals that he has also bribed Maxwell Byron, who has a family matter to settle down.

After John's death, Darren swears his vengeance on Diego Marston and he tells his wife and son to leave the house because a war is coming. Gizelle and Jeremiah move to another location far away from the previous homeland. Darren goes to Mexico and becomes one of General Alfredo Gostapo's soldiers and loyalists. After Darren fails to take care of Jonathan Markis, Alfredo is seen raping a woman and he reveals that he made a bargain with Diego. General Gostapo had to kill Darren, bring Diego a slave girl and let Diego also have his new identity as a regular citizen in Moscow and in return, Gostapo would achieve more money. Gostapo was eventually killed, and Darren went to an industrial house in which he finally found Diego. Diego pushed a box which squashed Darren and killed him. Eventually, Jeremiah knew that he's father was killed by Diego and he went to avenge his beloved father. Jeremiah eventually found Diego and told him that it's personal. Jeremiah shot Diego and his body rolled into the water.

Personality[]

Diego is ambitious and he has high hopes to become a normal and rich citizen. He shows no remorse for his crimes, and he doesn't care about anyone but himself. He is even willing to interfere with the civil war and torture or kill many civilians just so he could reach his goals. He is manipulative, cunning, pretentious and dangerous as he uses many different characters from the story for his own purposes, and gives them money or something small in return. He is also shown to be sadistic, as he makes things personal not only against Darren and his family, but also against the entire world. He seems to hate John Al as he intends to usurp him and eventually turns the crew against him and kills him. He even mentioned Tom McCoinner and Edward Milton, as he said bad things about them.
