Dimentio is the main antagonist of the Instagram series Marioronpa. He's the host of the killing game that takes place within the replica of Princess Peach's castle. He betrayed Count Bleck and stole the Chaos Heart from him, so he could use it to destroy all of existence and create a perfect one for himself to rule.
Personality[]
Like in canon, Dimentio is a manipulative sadist who guises himself as a charismatic fellow and wants to destroy all of reality, so he could replace it with a new one. He has a twisted sense of humor, cracking a sick joke about mushroom stew to Peach when she was grieving over Toad's death. He doesn't have any issues with having his former colleagues Nastasia and Mimi participating in the killing game and having them killed.
Despite claiming to not be violent by nature, Dimentio proves himself a hypocrite by subjecting the blackeneds to brutal executions after they get caught. What furthers his hypocrisy is that he claims that he wants to create a "perfect new world", despite the fact he was willing to subject an entire world to a war, presumably killing millions, if not billions.
Synopsis[]
Background[]
Like in Super Paper Mario, Dimentio was one of the few people who worked with Count Bleck in his goal to destroy the multiverse. In the past, Dimentio suggested to Bleck that they should hold a killing game within Castle Bleck in order to prevent any potential threats to his goal. Bleck was impressed by the idea, so he decided to let him do so. However, what Bleck didn't count on was that Dimentio is going to betray him and take the Chaos Heart by having Geno assassinate him.
Meanwhile, there was a war going on between the Mushroom and Koopa Kingdoms going on as a result of Princess Peach and Bowser going missing which lead to Peach's castle getting destroyed. Dimentio went to the Star Road to wish for the replica of Peach's castle being built right in front of Castle Bleck and for the war to spread across the entire world.
All that Dimentio needed now was a host for the Chaos Heart, so he brainwashed Luigi into Mr. L and had him be the mastermind of the killing game. The memories of the other participants also had to be wiped out to keep Mr. L's identity a secret.
Prologue[]
When everyone meets up and introduce themselves, Dimentio appears on the monitor to tell them to meet him in the castle hall. There, Dimentio introduces himself and reveals to them that they're a killing game. He explains to them that they need to kill each other and get away with it in order to escape. Dimentio then takes his leave, leaving the participants wondering what they should do next.
Chapter 1[]
A few days later, Dimentio noticed that no one tried to kill each other, so he decides provide a motive for the murder: The killer can choose a person they want to escape the castle if they were to survive. The jester takes his leave afterwards.
The next day, Kylie Koopa has been found dead in the castle's kitchen. Dimentio appears to provide the surviving the Dimentio file before leaving them to investigate. When the time for investigation is up, Dimentio announces for everyone to get to the Star Door where the elevator to the trial grounds awaits. At the end of trial, Wario is exposed as Kylie's killer and gets executed.
Chapter 2[]
The next day, Dimentio announces that the castle's basement has been unlocked for the remaining players as a reward for surviving the yesterday's trial. While investigating the armory there, the players find out that the Chaos Heart rests in it. Geno tries to destroy the Heart, only for it to shrug it off completely. Dimentio mocks Geno's efforts before leaving.
The next day, Dimentio announces the second motive. This time, the players cannot sleep until the murder occurs. After Dimentio finishes his announcement, he leaves. The next day, Pauline was found to have died in the basement halls. Dimentio shows up to give the surviving players the new Dimentio file before leaving. When the time investigation ends, Dimentio announces to the players to go to the elevator for the trial. At the end of the trial, Nastasia was outed as Pauline's murderer and gets executed.
Chapter 3[]
The next day, Dimentio appears in the kitchen to tell everyone that the top floor of the castle has been unlocked. Dimentio congrats everyone who's still alive for living long enough to see the whole castle and tells them he has a special announcement before leaving.
The day later, Dimentio announces that the motive this time is a video that the players need to find in the castle as it contains the information about the killing game and the mastermind behind it. The one person who managed to find the video was Toad. Being horrified by what he saw, Toad writes a note about the video. After he's finished writing the note, Toad kills Waluigi and then tried to do the same to Goombella after she found out, only for Goombella to kill him out of self-defense.
Waluigi and Toad's bodies were eventually found yesterday. Dimentio gives everybody two Dimentio files before leaving them to investigate. Later, Dimentio announces that it's now time for the trial to take place. Goombella was eventually found out and got executed.
After the trial, Mario hears Dimentio talking with Geno in the armory. Geno asks the jester why he decided to have the next motive that targets him specifically due to being a traitor. Dimentio tells him that despite being his traitor, Geno is still a participant in his killing game and tells him that he has the Star Road under his grasp. Mario wanted to check what's going on but the door was locked. After finishing his talk with Geno, Dimentio sends him back to his dorm before teleporting out of the armory right in front of Mario. Mario asks Dimentio who he was talking to earlier but the jester refuses to answer and disappears immediately.
Chapter 4[]
The next day, while the remaining players were cooking breakfast in the kitchen, Dimentio appears to tell everyone to follow him into the room with the painting to Bob-Omb Battlefield. He then enters the painting, causing everyone to follow him. Once everyone arrives to Bob-Omb Battlefield, Dimentio reveals the new motive: They have to kill the traitor if they want to avoid the trial and have to commit murder to escape the battlefield. As always, Dimentio disappears after he explains the motive.
Later that night, everyone would find Daisy eaten by a Chain Chomp. As usual, Dimentio appears to give the players a Dimentio file on Daisy's murder before leaving. When the investigation is finished, Dimentio shows up to get the surviving players out of the battlefield and back to Peach's castle. The players then go to the elevator to the trial grounds. After the trial, Kamek has been concluded as guilty and gets executed.
Chapter 5[]
After the trial, the surviving players discover a crack within the castle's wall which leads to a room with the Pure Hearts. Dimentio appears and takes everyone to the morgue. He explains that it is where he takes the bodies of those who have died in the killing game to as a showcase of how far everyone has come.
The next day, the players discover the security room within the mirror room while searching to free the Pure Hearts from a force field. Dimentio appears and takes everyone back to their dorms. Everyone finds out that the layout of the castle was changed to black and white. Dimentio reveals that the castle is now starting to get consumed by the void alongside the multiverse and has it serve as a motive for now.
Later, Mario and Peach come up with a plan to blow up the security room to end the killing game once and for all. After finding that the security has been destroyed, Dimentio goes to the room to get rid of the flames occupying it before arriving at the main grounds, announcing that he's now placing a ban on the armory because of what has recently happened.
It wasn't long until everyone finds Peach's dress lying on the ground charred. After finishing the investigation, Mario and the others go to the trial grounds to hold the trial. The trial ends when everyone concludes that Peach is actually still alive the whole time and has turned off the force field protecting the Pure Hearts and then used them to weaken the Chaos Heart and unlock the castle.
Everyone rushes to see Peach now that her deed is done. Finding out that Peach has broken two of his game's rules, he executes her on the spot. After they grief Peach's death and eat the cake she made as one final gift for them, the survivors decide to exit the castle, only to find out that it's actually right in front of Castle Bleck the entire time.
Chapter 6[]
When the survivors enter Castle Bleck, they soon get greeted by Dimentio himself. Although now the survivors are in Castle Bleck, the rules of the killing game still remain the same. Dimentio laughs as he soon goes away, leaving the survivors to search the castle.
As they explore, the survivors find out that Dimentio had brought the Chaos Heart to the castle. Mario demands that they hold one final trial to conclude who's the mastermind. He makes a deal with Dimentio if he and the others solve the mystery behind the killing game, Dimentio would have to send them back to the Mushroom Kingdom. Dimentio accepts the deal and leaves to prepare for the final trial.
The survivors eventually arrive at the trial grounds once the investigation is over. During the trial, the survivors find out that, not only has Count Bleck been killed, but Geno and Luigi were the traitor and the mastermind respectively the entire time. Now that he's outed as the mastermind, Luigi transforms into Mr. L.
With the truth finally revealed, Dimentio lets the survivors to vote whether they want to return to their world with a chance of getting killed by the war or stay in Castle Bleck for the rest of their lives with Luigi. Despite this, there would always be a punishment for either Luigi or Mr. L depending on which respective choice they choose.
The survivors ultimately decide to vote for leaving the castle, being ready take on whatever challenges the outside world might have for them. Now that the vote is concluded, Dimentio reverts Mr. L back to Luigi. Luigi apologizes to Mario and the others for everything that happened in the killing game and bids them one final goodbye before Dimentio executes him and himself.
Victims[]
- Count Bleck: He had Geno shoot him to death.
- Wario: Executed for being found guilty of Kylie's murder. Dimentio attempts to have Wario crushed to death by gold-colored walls, only for Wario to use his strength to stop them. The jester finishes the man in yellow off by having a diamond drill him to death.
- Nastasia: Executed for being found guilty of Pauline's murder. Nastasia is stranded on a platform outside of Castle Bleck, being attacked by Bowser's minions. Dimentio then shows up disguised as Count Bleck to destroy the platform Nastasia is standing on with lightning, sending her falling to her death.
- Goombella: Executed for being found guilty of Toad's murder. Goombella explores a mysterious temple for a Crystal Star, only to fall for a trap and activate the arrows. Avoiding the arrows, Goombella enters a pipe which leads her to a room with very low temperature. Clones of Dimentio start surrounding her, confusing her while she slowly freezes to death.
- Kamek: Executed for being found guilty of Princess Daisy's murder. Kamek is chased by sentient books with sharped teeth in the library. When the books catch up to him, Kamek gets consumed by mysterious black liquid leaking from the ceiling.
- Princess Peach: Executed for breaking two of the killing game's rules. He trapped her inside a magical see-through box before blowing her up.
- Luigi: Executed after the majority voted on leaving Castle Bleck. Luigi is tasked to capture the ghosts flooding the skies riding the L-Bot. As he captures the ghosts, Luigi notices the power constantly draining, leaving him no other choice but to press the self-destruct button, taking himself and the L-Bot out in process.
Trivia[]
- Dimentio references Kokichi Ouma from Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony as "the young leader who dons the checkered accessory" in the fifth chapter when he finds the players inside the security room.
- Ironically, he also references Monokuma himself in the final chapter, considering he takes his role for the series.
