Doctor Otto Gunther Octavius, better known by his supervillain name Doctor Octopus, is the titular main antagonist of the 2021 Marvel based fanfilm/presentation Spider Man VS Doctor Octopus. He is a ruthless scientist of NASA who later fused himself with mechanical tentacles and betrayed his company and his superiors in order to achieve world domiannce. He is one of Spiderman's recent archenemies.
He is portrayed by Jamie Dornan.
History[]
Doctor Otto Octavius worked for many years on a NASA project which would bring them power and let them usurp the governments of the entire world. The project included an AI activated bomb called Project: E-Nuke, as well as symbiotes from out of space which fused with human hosts, dead or alive, and killed the ones who have resisted to the symbiote's brainwashing.
Otto later tested a symbiote on his brother Oswald Octavius. Oswald asked him why he is doing this, and Otto explained to his brother that NASA want to usurp the government of the US by unleashing the symbiotes on the humans, so they can control all of it. Oswald sees through his lies and remarks that he is not cooperating with NASA but rather looking for his own way to rise to power.
Otto then releases the symbiote onto his brother and the symbiote kills Oswald. Otto reacts by talking to his dead brother and asking him how dead he feels now.
Otto Octavius then met Director Carlton Drake, who scolds at him for his failure to find out if symbiotes could really remain under NASA's control. After that moment, the CEO of NASA Charles Mason enters the scene and tells Otto to fuse with some mechanical arms which were built to make him NASA's warrior, Doctor Octopus.
Otto then became Doctor Octopus by fusing with the arms just before he used them to kill Mason. Doctor Octopus then kidnapped Mary Jane while she met Peter Parker at the park, and he teleported with MJ captive to a Russian NASA base of operations. There, he held MJ captive while activating a massive AI built bomb called Project: E-Nuke. The bomb caused energy fields to destroy many Russian buildings, thus killing many people. However, Spiderman came, interfered with the bomb and fought Doctor Octopus, until Doctor Octopus forfeited and teleported himself back to the US.
After the deaths of Riot and Roland Treece, Doctor Octopus activated another Project E-Nuke bomb inside the USA NASA facility and he was ready to fight Spiderman. The two of them fought, and eventually Spiderman managed to deactivate the bomb, as Otto built the bomb so that only Spiderman could deactivate it, out of obsession towards him. Doctor Octopus dies since his mechanical arms work under the influence of the same AI as the bomb.
Personality[]
Doctor Octopus is very delusional, ruthless, merciless and tyrannical. He seems to be so obsessed with Spiderman however that he even made the Project E-Nuke bomb so that only Spiderman could destroy it completely. This was probably out of obsession with Spiderman and with murder.
However, despite his ruthlessness and ambitious nature, Otto was implied to once be a good man. However, all the good in his was gone a long time ago, if it ever existed. Ontop of all, he was willing to conquer the universe and kill all of humanity before reviving it with the symbiote's help.
Trivia[]
- This is the first version of Doctor Octopus that never started his journey as a hero, but was rather a sociopathic supervillain right from the beginning. However, his brother Oswald Octavius did mention that Otto used to be a good man. However, this might not be true, since Otto's cunning and ruthless personality shows that he might have just pretended to be good so that his brother and possibly his family won't suspect.
- Doctor Octopus could be considered as Carlton Drake's rival. The two of them had a mild dislike to one another and Drake even scolded at Otto for his presumed failure, as he was just looking for a way to blame Doctor Octopus for something he hasn't done. Also, Doctor Octopus killed the company's ambitious CEO Charles Mason, out of lust for power and revenge on Director Drake.
