Dr. Gero is the overarching antagonist of the Cell Saga of Dragon Ball Z Abridged, being the one who created Cell and the Androids. He also serves as the main antagonist of Super Android 13.
Biography[]
Past[]
Dr. Gero was once a scientist for the Red Ribbon Army as was his son. However, a young boy named Goku attacked the base, killing his son and causing the organization to fall apart. Many years after, Dr. Gero plotted his revenge against Goku. During this he captured two teenagers named Lapis and Lazuli, turning the two of them into androids (actually cyborgs). Of course, he wasn't satisfied there, he prepared five other androids along with a secret project in his sublab. However, three of the androids were deemed defective, so he had them shelved, while Android 16 and his experiment was still far from ready to be unleashed. 17 and 18 were too rebelious and tried to kill him, prompting him to put them to sleep.
Attack on Saiyan[]
Feeling unable to wait any longer, Dr. Gero begins to launch an attack on the city alongside android 19 to lure out Goku. During their hunt, they run into Yamcha, whom they assume to be Goku based on an analysis. With an 87% data match, Gero attacks Yamcha lunging his hand through his chest just before Goku and the rest of the fighters arrive. There, they are led to a more deserted area to prevent more damage from being done while Krillin takes Yamcha to Bulma.
Upon which, Dr. Gero has Android 19 fight Goku while he attempts to intimidate the rest of the fighters, but his intimidations fall flat from him constantly yelling at 19 to actually fight back. Eventually, 19 gains the upper hand when Goku starts having a heart attack, with senzu beans only making it worse. Before 19 can finish Goku off, Vegeta arrives in time ready to kill the androids himself. With this, he tells 19 to focus on Vegeta figuring they can easily finish Goku off later. However, Vegeta reveals himself to have achieved Super Saiyan status and destroys Android 19. With this, Dr. Gero attempts to make a break for it, even waiting for Vegeta to let out a ki blast to absorb so he can get away more easily.
However, he finds himself surrounded so he decides to sneak up and drain Piccolo of his energy before being kicked by Gohan. Vegeta then gets ready to fight Gero, only for the android scientist to request fighting Tien. Tien's eagerness causes him to change to Krillin before Piccolo volunteers, manipulating Vegeta into letting him get revenge on Gero. At first, Gero thinks Piccolo stands no chance due to how much energy was absorbed, but one senzu bean, and the namekian manages to relieve Gero of an arm. It isn't until Trunks and Bulma arrive that Gero is able to make an opening to escape.
Awakening 17 and 18[]
Realizing the disadvantage he was now at, Gero makes his way back to his lab with intent to reactivate 17 and 18. On his way, he notices the fighters flying in the way to his lab as well. At first, he doesn't think they figured out its location as they would need to know a scientist, but then he remembers that they are friends with the Briefs.
Realizing this, Gero hurries his way to the lab first with only Krillin managing to catch him. Dr. Gero manages to get inside by tricking Krillin into waiting for a surprise (which Krillin realizes to be the androids). At first, Gero is hesitant in activating them, but hearing the fighters right outside, he decides it worth the risk.
As he explains the situation to the two of them, the fighters manage to break in. Seeing them, 18 decides to activate Android 16 against Gero's orders. Despite his demand for them to obey him, 17 decapitates the doctor as his head rolls in front of the Z-fighters. As Gero asks them for a senzu bean, he is finished off by 17.
Plan C[]
Gero wasn't completely dead though. He made sure to upload his brain into his supercomputer. With 17 and 18 going rogue, he decides to check on his project, deeming it to need another 17 years before it is ready, moving on to his last resort in the form of his defects, awakening Androids 14 and 15 to attack the fighters. As Goku and Trunks fight the two androids, Gero then activates Android 13.
Monitoring their progress from the sublab through 13, he becomes ecstatic when 13 absorbs the components of 14 and 15 to become even more powerful, even getting 13 to punch Goku in the dick. However, as Goku begins to charge a spirit bomb, 13 starts getting distracted by the other fighters, much to Gero's frustration. Soon enough, Android 13 is destroyed as well.
Frustrated but done, Gero decides to just let his project incubate, figuring that he can wait another 17 years. Just then though, Krillin and Trunks find his sublab, blowing it up and finishing him off once and for all.
