Biography[]
Past[]
Betruger was one of the survivng UNSC forces who survived the Covenant leader, Truth's genocidal campaign against humanity and reform into the Union Aurospace Corporation following the Human-Covenant War. With Mars City constructed to repopulate humanity and terraform the planet, Betruger rose up to become Mars City Base's appointed research director. He and his research time would discover a Martian archaeological site that had teleportation technology to potentially activate portals similar to Slipspace which seemingly what they brought through the portals led to their demise. Ignoring the potential dangers, his work begin experimenting with the technolgy to become teleporters and the main portal constructed at the Delta Complex. While experimenting, he discovered that the teleportation technllogy is actually linked to opening a new dimension known as Hell and made their first encounter with another lifeform more mysterious than the ones from the war, a demon.
Curious, Betruger had the teams enter Hell and capture more creatures to be tested. During the operation, some members of the team were killed or injured by the demons while the rest returned and helped with experimenting though some of them would lose their sanity due to the side effect from entering Hell. Despite this, Bretruger continued the exploration with the analysis confirming that the dimension is indeed Hell and the denizens they brought are confirmed to be demons. At some point, the demons have interest in Betruger and contacted him in his dreams, promising him great power and in exchange to subjugate humanity ifhe helped. Agreeing to this, he makes an unscheduled arrival to Hell where he made a pact with the demons and returned as a changed man. He plots to brings the demons to Earth with his experimental teleporter that he had been working on at the Exis Labs. Unfortunately, it was not fully operational and he was caught by Dr. Macneil who informed Counselor Elliot Swan about the events going on. Because of this, Betruger decides to change plans to accelerate the invasion early.
Doom 2553[]
Betruger is first seen at the control twoer where he expect Swan's arrival to Mars City Base. During his discussion with Swan, Swan berates him from the complaints about the situations going on at Mars while he claims this was from the workers overworking and having a more compliant staff would avoid more accident before letting him and Kelly investigate before telling him great things will come before leaving. Unbeknownst to anyone, Betruger manage to stole the Soul Cube to transport it to Hell and interferes with Dr. Johnathan Ishii's work to send a distress call to stop him as he intends to be the one to do it for his purposes, sparking the demonic invasion.
During the invasion, he would be on transmission as Swan gain contacts with him about the demonic attack. Betruger tends to assure him that the entire invasion is not going out of control and he will be able to handle "things" before cutting off his transmission.
He then makes contact with the Marine in the Waste Recycling Sector where he taunts the Marine suggesting that he would alert the fleet himself to bring the demons to Earth and for playing his game depends on which choice he does if he does activate the distress signal or not. He then attempts to kill the Marine by leaking a toxic gas in the chamber but the Marine was able to escape. To ensure that the Marine doesn't interfere with his work, he would summon more demons to stop him as well as creating a new addition to the zombies being the Commandos, ordering the demons to oppose anyone who is against him thus including the Marine.
The Marine journeyed to Delta Labs where Betruger would taunt the Marine that he won't survive for long, summoning two Hell Knights to seize him. After the Marine kills the Hell Kjight, Betruger reveals this was indeed a trap and sends him and himself to Hell. After his transformation off-screen, he would tell the Marine that he will endure eternal suffering in Hell. The Marine then nitices and finds the Soul Cubd as he manage to escape Hell and seals the portal from unleashing more demons, but Betruger had revealed to summon a spare portal in the caverns. In doing so, he summoned more demons to safeguard it and murders then corrupts Kelly into Sabaoth as he relied on his confidences that he will unleash Hell on Earth to rule it under his power with the fleet nearing their destination to Mars. The Marine then travels to the caverns to deactivate the portal but not before he summons the Cyberdemon to stop him. The Marine turns the tides as he uses the Soul Cube to defeat the Cyberdemon and closing the portal to put an end to the invasion.
Though his plans have come to a halt, he remained the leader of the demons as his demonic form has been revealed at the end of the mod as a large demonic dragon known as the Maledict.
