There will be no traitors in my kingdom!! General Boggs!! I order you and your men to fire at all of these wicked monsters!!
~ The Duke ordering General Boggs and his men to kill the "traitors"

Duke Von Boom is the secondary antagonist turned supporting protagonist of the fanfilm/presentation Nicholas and a minor character of it's sequel Nicholas: Into The Human World. He is the paranoid and heavily greedy ruler and duke of the lands in Dutopia. He is also the boss of both Fortus (though Fortus and him were temporary enemies, for a while) and General Boggs. Many years ago, The Duke thought that Enyla is a traitor working for the dark kingdoms as he saw her using dark sorcery. 10 years later, he encounters a bunch of "traitors" trying to protect Enyla from his wrath, and he is then betrayed by his favorite general in the lands, Fortus.

History[]

Many years ago, Duke Von Boom ordered Fortus to kill Enyla for using dark sorcery, as he thought that she used dark powers to assist Clive's evil schemes and help him destroy his lands. Fortus tried to hide her away, but eventually General Boggs and his guards find the innocent girl and lock her up, deep inside The Tower of Traitors. However, Enyla escapes with Clive's help, and therefore, she is turned into Clive's dark queen. Clive however seemingly betrays Enyla for her sister Jula and makes her the queen of darkness instead, as he would banish the latter queen into the human world, and next he would cast a spell so they could both be in the same human family. Duke Von Boom later returns to his castle after Fortus tells Enyla and her son Nicholas to hide in the church of the lands, as Dryfus shall guide them from that point onwards. Duke Von Boom then told Fortus that he is his favorite general in the lands of Dutopia, as he would do anything for the citizens and their safety, much like The Duke would do anything to keep the kingdom wealthy. Duke Von Boom asked Fortus if he had any sightings of "the traitor" Enyla, as he heard rumors from his citizens that she somehow returned to the lands. Fortus lied to The Duke and told him that he did not see her anywhere, as she might still even be in the human realm. Duke Von Boom however sent General Boggs to search for the traitor in the church. However, before Boggs and the senator of the lands Dryfus could both have the bunch of traitors killed for their false crimes and accusations, Dryfus's daughter Fauna asked them to spare the lives of both Nicholas and Enyla, as she always dreamt of Nicholas returning and loving her again like he always loved her before his banishment. However, as Dryfus led the way and took Nicholas, Fauna and Enyla to start their voyage, General Boggs stayed behind and infromed The Duke about the traitors returning to the lands by contacting his hologram. The Duke then knew that Fortus was lying to him, as he intended to kill all the traitors, and then have Boggs assasinate his rival General Fortus. Duke Von Boom and his guads (led by General Boggs) then confronted Dryfus, Nicholas, Enyla and Fauna. Dryfus explained to The Duke that they are only intending to save the world, and not to betray it. However, The Duke refuses to believe that and orders his men to fire their plasma guns at Dryfus, as he orders each of the guards to only release a single warning shot. Thereafer, Dryfus was killed on the spot by the paranoid duke of the lands. However, Fortus then arrives via teleportation and begs The Duke to spare their lives, calling him Von Boom. Duke Von Boom tells Fortus to call him by the name Duke Von Boom, and threatens him that if he doesn't redeem his name and shoot the traitors right now, he will order the guards to shoot his favorite general for "joining the treacherous monsters". Nicholas however grants the first wish to escape The Duke and hos loyalists before they shoot. The Duke orders Boggs and his men to find the monstrous traitors, as it is now time to finish the treachery once and for all.

General Boggs eventually finds both Nicholas and Fauna, as he hands the two innocents over to The Duke. Duke Von Boom then hangs the two "traitors" on two different ropes, so he can torture them until they both die. Nicholas however speaks his last words and tells the vicious duke of the lands that no matter what he does, there is one thing he cannot destroy, and it's the bond between two lovers, connected to each other as if they were tied on one rope forever more. The Duke however insists that traitors are not capable of loving. Nicholas however manages to convince Duke Von Boom that Clive is responsible for the entire scheme, and not Enyla. The Duke then releases them and goes to prepare his army against the dark king. Clive then kills off lots of citizens and mutilates most of The Duke's soldiers, much to General Boggs' notification. Clive then enters the castle and reveals his true form to Duke Von Boom, before killing his bodyguards and attempting to mutilate The Duke himself. However, in the last moment, Nicholas knocks Clive out and lets The Duke escape from the castle before Clive kills him off. Duke Von Boom appears at the movie's end, congratulating Nicholas for defeating Clive and officially ranking him as his own gladiator.

Nicholas: Into The Human World[]

He at first appears greeting Nicholas and Fauna for their marriage and he even showed them a golden statue of Nicholas the hero which he built out of most of his gold, although he is very greedy. Near the end of the film, Nicholas transports with Luke Higgins (the true main villain of the movie) to The Duke's torture chamber and Nicholas tells Duke Von Boom to hang him up. The Duke hangs Luke up and expects him to have toothace. He presumably manages to kill Luke by hanging him on the rope.

Personality[]

He is a heavily greedy, egoistic, pompous and tyrannical monarch. However, despite his first impressions and attempt to become more powerful and rich than others, thus not caring about the kingdom, and his vicious plans to take care of Dutopia's traitors and dark beings and monsters, The Duke is nothing close to be evil, cruel and dark. He has a heart towards the citizens of his very own kingdom which he deserves to rule it. Infact, he did redeem himself near the end of the film, even canceling his rude methods to punish traitors and make himself more prominent than others, and therefore he also declared that Nicholas will be his gladiator of the lands.

Trivia[]

  • He bears a strike resemblance to The Duke of Weselton from the movie Frozen. They are both paranoid tyrants who try to kill any monsters or traitors who use dark sorcery. However, unlike The Duke of Weselton, this Duke Von Boom has the ability to redeem himself as he was a remorseful anti-villain from the beginning of the movie, even becoming more of a villain like Norrington from Pirates of The Caribbean. While Von Boom was clearly an anti-villain, The Duke of Weselton was a very unclear villain, who even wanted to kill Elsa for the riches and it is unknown if his paranoia was real or just a ploy to get rid of Elsa and Anna.
  • Despite being the former secondary antagonist, Duke Von Boom had the most screentime and served as the central villain during the first half of the movie.
  • He was seemingly one of the two main antagonists of the movie (alongside Queen Jula) until Clive's ambitious plans were explained.
