“ | Never the matter. You'll lose eventually. In every occurrence... (chuckle) In ever single occurrence in which you try, you will fail. In every occurrence in which you try to save a soul, I will be there. I will be there. And I will make you fail. I will stop you. I will make sure no one in that hotel sees the light of Heaven. Not a single bell. I will make sure not a single being in this realm will be able to see those pearly gates. And I'll be there when you eventually give up. Because you will. And it's inevitable. And when you finally do, I will tear down that Hotel. And I will make it nothin' short of a wasteland. And when that happens, I'll still be there. Watchin'. Makin' sure you watch what could've been fade into very dust. And when you finally realize how pathetic your attempts are, maybe I'll spare you the mockery. But we all know that's not goin' to happen. [...] So... For what it's worth, I do not wish you luck. | „ |
~ Dusk to Charlie, about her Hotel, and her endeavours. |
“ | Why do I do what I fuckin' do, ya ask? Well, 'cause I fuckin' can. It's the bloodlust, knowin' the fact that ain't no one gonna stop such a powerful figure such as I. The feelin' that everyone fears you, and that they'd rather die than disobey me. The fact I could just murder someone right now, and use their body as my latest drink, and no one would bat an eye is just so fuckin' liberatin', y'know? | „ |
~ Dusk, when asked why he does what he does. |
Lord Dusk Lidicous of Pride, also known as Dusk, or The Fixation Demon, is a reoccurring, primary antagonist in Hazbin Hotel. He is a fanon character to the show.
Once a human, born in the dire country of Colombia, he descended to Hell after his death, in which he then overthrew an Overlord around two years later, after many homicides to gain him power, and ultimately became a cruel, unrelenting villain whom thrived of the pain and suffering of others. Alone, he was able to cause pure chaos and havoc across the Pride Ring, gaining him a reputation that no one dared to cross.
Personality[]
When Dusk finally rose to Overlord fame, his personality was finally known to all. He was sought to be a malicious, malevolent, obsessive Overlord with more of a knack for unfiltered words. This is always shown when commanding his servants around his Palace, and Workers of his Multi-Billion Dollar Business. Ignorant to most things, he believed himself to be invincible, which was technically mostly true, as not many people, other than the Overlords of Pride, stood up to him. He was also shown to be persuasive with his words, being able to get almost any denizen in Pentagram City to see only what he could be, instead of what he actually was. This worked for a long time, until Dusk's corruption of others finally corrupted himself.
In Order to hide his corruption from others, he put up a new façade of happiness, acting as a charming, happy-go-lucky Overlord with nothing to hate. Yet in reality, he was far from that. This façade didn't keep up either, as he dropped it completely, revealing what he really was to everyone.
Now ruling in cruelty, Dusk took joy in commanding others however he liked, with expected obedience. To whomever didn't follow his command, he'd lash out aggressively, often injuring the person on the other end of the stick. He was shown to be honest, though, not sugarcoating the truth one bit. He was a narcissist, but he was a truthful narcissist. More often than not, these honest answers often led him into trouble with other Overlords, as even they couldn't escape his honest thoughts. He was portrayed as insane by many, which ultimately led him to act accordingly, often portraying himself as a cruel man with not a sliver of compassion for whatever was going on around him.
Despite that fact, Dusk was also shown to be quite smart, as shown with his remarkable ability to shred the electric guitar. This also earned him the nickname “Hell’s own Adam” by many denizens of Hell, because both shared a passion for the guitar, and for the fact both weren’t so different from each other. As persuasive as ever, Dusk's convincing capabilities never stopped, as he was still able to come off as his abandoned façade to many people, which often scored him pity, which he used to his advantage in more ways than one. Manipulative, this was also how he was able to gain his power in the first place, through his murderous venture of becoming an Overlord in the first place. More often than not, he was also open to ridiculing people, as he would always be seen insulting or crushing one's self-esteem, however he could. This eventually led Dusk to become more malicious and malevolent, with a short temper.
Dusk is also shown to be incredibly greedy, feeding off of his employees, sucking their pockets dry of any money they've ever had. Every dime they make immediately goes to him. A contributing factor to Dusk's greed could be due to the fact people like Mammon and Valentino often rub off on him, Mammon especially.
Dusk is also shown to be a very controlling, manipulate person, as his words are able to manipulate even people eith the strongest of wills. Spreading his influence across Hell, he is shown to control his workers like puppets, often giving them the illusion that he valued them and wants them to stay with him above all others. Essentially, he pulls on the strings of their hearts to sway them into his rule, seducing them into his web of lies until their completely submissive to his overgrowing grasp. He carefully picks at his victims like a chiseler, making sure that they nwver escape him, often by means of force, or empty promises of wealth, fame, and indulgence never before seen to them until his arrival. Using his tricks and fake tales, he successfully swindles the newly enslaved under his guidance, to their untimely demise at his hands.
Dusk is also what's known as a philomisist, as he has a deep-seated hatred for love, especially love that's found deep in Hell. Despite his relationship with his wife during his lifetime, he can no longer mentally feel love, due to the fact that she was the only real person that he did love before he died. Any "love" that is shown by Dusk is always fake, with absolutely no exceptions. Therefore, Dusk expresses his "love" through his controlling tendencies and trickster demeanor, using that to express what he clearly cannot. This is what gains him his sadistic nature too, as Dusk cannot mentally feel neither empathy nor sympathy, as he simply can't feel sorry for anyone.
Dusk is also known to be very violent with almost anyone he comes across. He enjoys the suffering of the souls that he owns, while also indirectly causing said suffering. Dusk has been known to be the cause of many Sinners' suffering during their afterlives, as well as the cause to the deaths of multiple Hellborne, such as Imps and such. He relished and the murder of life too, as he often indulges himself in murdering and torturing demons left and right, even going so far as to shoot and kill random demons on the street, if he so pleased. His tendency for the random killings of demons also leads many people to avoid his presence while in public, as he almost always ends up killing or bringing a demon back to his palace to torture them until their last breathes. This is mainly why Dusk while never be seen without blood on his face, teeth, fingers, or even tongue, as he frivolously, brutally butchers his victims to the point of begging on the receiving end. His massacres often, if not always leave a mark on Pentagram City, as most hide away in fear for being his next victim. Though, one way or another, the manslaughter by the hands of Dusk will always be imminent, no matter where he walks. He is also known for his constant indirect killings via possession, hypnotization, and corruption of any demons' minds, forcing them to kill in his name, and framing them right after.
His ego was always his strong point, as he came off as pompous and egotistical, always boasting about whatever he could about himself, with no care for others annoyance to it. Around a wave of self-obsession, Dusk always viewed himself to be above everyone he met. Perceived by both Sinners and Hellborne to be unsympathetic to all, he never showed much sympathy, indeed. This also spanned from his negligence of others, as he often dismissed or mistreated most people he came into contact with. Due to this, his pride was always at an all-time high, making him ever more arrogant and cocky. He often mocks others whenever he can, whether it be behind their backs, or upfront. Unlike what people actually think, Dusk is not actually insecure. He's just like that because he chooses too. Because of his ego, he doesn't acknowledge insecurity at all, as he believes himself to be perfect, which causes him to believe that he doesn't need to be insecure, making him to be what he says himself to be. Oftentimes too, he'll flaunt whatever he's got, which is a lot, to other people.
