Dwight: Alright, I'm almost done here.
Devin: Bro, I hope that whatever you worked on can make this my final show tonight for my career.
Dwight: Oh don't worry, this will be your final show of the century.
~ Dwight Blade's most famous dialogue with Devin Bart, foreshadowing his true nature.
Dwight: Hello, James. Did you enjoy the show?
James: It was a blast, my n---a.
Dwight: Oh yes, my most brilliant work yet and still my last one, thanks to you.
James: So what now?
Dwight: Come this way.
James: What is it?
Dwight: You'll see, my dear friend. You'll see.
~ Dwight's last words before introducing James Leto to Hell as a reward for helping him out by letting him do the final event.

Dwight Blade, a.k.a. Wayne Blade and The Producer, is the main antagonist of the crime thriller drama film Young Life, BrandonKR's first NC-17 rated project and consists of 3 different storylines.

Despite seeming to appear as almost a minor character, he's revealed to be the mastermind behind a hidden dangerous plot that the characters and viewers had unfortunately ignored until it was too late to stop it.

He is played by Casper Van Dien.

Early Life[]

Before the events of the film, it's unknown how Dwight Blade became a dangerous terrorist and criminal mastermind but he does certainly have a hatred for America for unknown reasons to the point that he plotted to destroy Young City and let himself die in it just to spite the country.

Just as the news states, he had broken into a government facility and stolen some uranium rods and other plutonian to create a nuclear-powered bomb which could eradicate a whole city.

Also, it's confirmed that he's the one who kidnapped Misa Akane and used the plot as a distraction from anyone caring about what he plans to do to the city while also leaving her bound and gagged in Benny Walker's apartment during the rest of the film.

At some point, he faked his way into Palmer Studios and took the fake identity as Wayne Smith, which he no doubt killed the possible real guy for his identity and job while making sure that no one knew what the real guy looked like.

Young Life[]

He first appears overseeing Devin Bart's terrible performance at a concert and decided to take this chance to manipulate him into helping him out with his plans under the lie of improving the guy's career and is also shown to be hating his picture on the news.

While pretending to help him out, he was also secretly creating his nuclear bomb and installing the rods into it while sadistically snickering at telling Devin that it's a surprise and falsely assuring him that he'll see soon what it is.

When seeing Devin improve on his rapping skills, he genuinely claps in impression at really helping someone improve their career but nonetheless feels like an accomplished mentor and can't wait for the plan to come through.

When working on the set, he encounters James Leto, who confronts him about what he was doing but he angrily threatens to get lost and that it was none of his business.

However, James already finds out but has given up on humanity due to losing everything in his life and decided to let him do the evil plot while encouraging him to put on a good show, causing Dwight to sadistically chuckle at a potential apprentice for him.

After exchanging goodbyes, he manages to finish installing the lethal device and waits for the show to begin as he then hears Cindy Westcott announcing that it's showtime, which he falsely thanks her for and sadistically brags about this.

On the stage, he welcomes the audience and asks for them to give a warm welcome to Devin before walking towards the right side of the stage and watching somewhat proudly as Devin does great on his performance, seeming to enjoy the music.

By the end of the performance, he notices the timer beeping and sadistically declares goodbye to everyone before the bomb sets off and destroys the city, killing him, Devin, Cindy, James, and everyone else still in the city.

In the afterlife, he is banned from Heaven for being the one that blew everyone up but doesn't mind one bit and managed to find a nightclub called Hellfire Club, who sent him to find James.

When finding James and seeing that he's locked out of Heaven for also causing the events, he sadistically thanks him for helping him out and guides him to the club.

At the said club, they are given red suits and meet the Nega Demon, who is impressed with their work and hires them to be both managers of the club.

Happily accepting the offer and both shaking hands at a partnership, Dwight is last seen with helping run the bar and joining in on praising James for his help, planning to teach him how to be evil as the film ends with James' evil taunt and laugh.

Personality[]

At first, he seemed to be a supportive, sympathetic, trustworthy, and helpful producer who seemed to really want to improve Devin's career as a rapper.

However, it's now revealed to be a facade and he's actually xenophobic, sadistic, manipulative, and dangerous terrorist and bomber who hates America and is willing to bomb a whole city out of spite, including his own self.

As for his so-called new friendship with James Leto, this seems to be more out of mutual sadism and hatred for the city than actual friendship and he had no problem killing the guy as well.

In the afterlife, he has no remorse for his crimes and doesn't mind being banned from Heaven but is instead happy to be part of Hell's nightclub and is obviously now corrupting James into being his potential apprentice.

Appearance[]

When in disguise, he does look like a very famous producer with a fancy suit and sunglasses along with a shaved stubble and a cool haircut that doesn't make him look suspicious at all.

When the news showed his wanted picture, he used to have a beard, different sunglasses, and hat that did make him look like a terrorist but he seems to hate that picture and obviously got new looks to go undercover.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being the main antagonist and James being the main protagonist, they aren't arch enemies but instead possible allies and indirect accomplices due to the former committing the bombing and the latter choosing to let him do it.
  • Also despite being the main antagonist, he only appears in Devin's storyline and was not yet revealed as a villain until the bomb went off and the credits revealed his true nature.
  • Due to his crimes and lack of remorse, he is one of the 2 most hated characters of the film alongside James Leto due to being a terrorist and bomber who somehow manages to successfully bomb the whole city and only ends up enjoying Hell.
  • He's so horrible and evil that even his actor hates him and was terrified at playing a hidden terrorist who bombed a whole city without remorse, which the creators apologized to him for having him play such a horrible man.
  • Just like James Leto, Dwight is also one of the biggest things about why the movie was getting criticized because of him being an evil terrorist and bomber behind the scenes who not only succeeded in bombing a city full of innocent people but him being sent to Hell is treated as merely getting a slap on the wrist and he hasn't truly gotten karma for his crimes.
  • The end credits did declare that the news reports about the kidnapping and stolen materials along with other scenes were secret hints at the real plot and everyone had unfortunately ignored it:
    • When the kidnapping is reported on the news, everyone gets more worried about the kidnapped princess instead of the news about the stolen uranium rods, which ended up being more important later on due to the ending.
    • When the news about the nuclear theft was brought up again, Dwight's picture of his original looks can obviously show him underneath the sunglass, beard, and hat, which the said guy himself is shown to be hating the picture in annoyance instead of fear.
    • When Dwight was working on the device, the parts and pieces he used for it looked suspiciously nuclear and dangerous, which was obviously him building the bomb and that he was clearly up to no good.
    • When Devin got curious about it, Dwight seemed to obviously get excited as well for the big surprise and didn't even decide to tell him and the staff about it, to make sure they didn't foil his plan and because he was going to enjoy the explosion.
    • When getting confronted by James about what he's doing, he is uncharacteristically hostile towards him about it and even threatened him to leave, which didn't seem anything like his facade.
    • Once James decided to allow the events to happen and used offensive words, not only did Dwight never reprimanded him for using those words but instead laughed with him and sent him off to wait for the final show, hinting at seeing potential in him.
    • When he was done setting up the device and being told that the show was going on, he seemed too happy about this and bragged about it, which even disturbed Cindy herself.
    • When Devin's performance began and Dwight was watching it, he did also kept on looking up at the timer as if he's being impatient for it to hit 0, which is because he's waiting for the big explosion to happen.
    • When the timer goes off and the bomb is about to explode, Dwight eagerly said goodbye to the audience and called them suckers while flipping them off, pretty much confirming that he's the one responsible for the bombing.
    • Overall, if these hints (except the final 3 since it was too late) weren't ignored and if James had chose to redeem himself by exposing Dwight as a terrorist, the city wouldn't have been destroyed and the film would've ended happily.
