King Gadriel, my child, you are my chosen disciple. You will help me bring a new, prosperous era, restoring the honor and glory of the Ancient Dragon... and wipe out the Impures!
~ Eldea manipulating King Gadriel, also showcasing his hatred for Eldverian Dragons.
You should be more careful who you put your trust into. Think about it; ever since my appearance, calamity after calamity has struck your kingdom, your castle, your father. ... What I'm trying to say is, do not trust whoever the Demorians send. After all... I know, better than anyone, that appearances ... can be decieving.
~ "Chancellor Guardaelis" revealing himself as Eldea to Prince Mard'u.

King Eldea (known also by his disguise Chancellor Guardealis) is one of the overarching antagonists of the Dream Zone franchise, serving as the unseen overarching antagonist of The Dream Zone: Legends of Demor and the main antagonist of its spin-off Tales of Eldveria.

He is the very first ruler of the dragon nation Eldveria and a member of the Ancient Dragon race who, in his quest to circumvent his coming death, used powerful dark magic to transfer his soul to another body. He would do this for thousands of years, puppeteering many rulers literally and eventually from behind the scenes to avoid detection. This cycle stopped with the ruling era of King Gadriel, where Korthan's inflicted extinction forced Eldea into hiding.

He would remain in hiding for years until the emergence of Misia, an Eldverian dragon girl with a powerful Chaos Magic affliction. Using the Ancient Order, he would enact his plan to not only use her magic to create an undying body, but also restore the Ancient Dragon race and completely eradicate the Eldverian Dragon race.

He is the master of King Gadriel and the arch-nemesis of Algo Scrytheseer and Misia Scrytheseer.

Personality[]

Eldea can be summed up as ruthless, callous, xenophopic, tyrannical, manipulative, and calculating megalomaniac who wants nothing more than to rule forever until the end of time. Any subordinate that so much as questions him gets severely punished, and others pay a price for it as well.

He seldom gets into conflicts himself, using pawns and others to do his bidding. The entire Ancient Order that he founded was created so that they could act in his stead while he enacted his plans, fully intending for them to be disposable mooks to keep the heroes distracted. However, his inaction on the battlefield means that he doesn't know how to fight a more experience opponent, relying on his sheer magic skills to overwhelm them. While he isn't a master tactician, he is a master manipulator and strategist, having puppeteered many rulers in his later years from behind the scenes and almost succeeded in single-handedly destroying the Eldverian monarchy as Chancellor Guardaelis.

In addition, Eldea also has a strong hatred for the bipedal Eldverian Dragon race, labeling them as "Impures" and viewing them as subserviant, as before the Ancient Dragons' extinction, the Elverian Dragons were slaves and servants. He also detests sympathizers, and took great pleasure in having his Ancient Order attack numerous Eldverian cities during his pursuit of Misia Scrytheseer. His vitrol towards the other race is so large, he admits being disgusted in having to assume an Eldverian Dragon form.

However, despite all this, he is a dirty coward with a massive fear of death. In fact, he feared his early death so much he used dark magic to extend his lifespan and eventually transfer his soul to other vessels. This would cause his presence in nearly every part of Eldveria's history until the Ancient Dragon's extinction (thanks to Korthan) and would spend the centuries afterward in hiding, only emerging when Korthan was finally killed. Overall, his fear of death and confrontation contributes to his quest for immortality and the motivation in seeking Misia to create an undying body.

Appearance[]

As Chancellor Guardaelis, he appears as a bipedal, furred Eldverian dragon with white and green-gray colored fur. He also has two black horns and no wings. In addition, he keeps his loose fur tied as a poofed ponytail. His outfit consists of a large blue ribbon, a white dress shirt, an elaborately decorated white cloak, grey pants, a black dress jacket with golden outlines, and black boots.

When Eldea wishes, Guardaelis's eyes turn red and veiny, with a third eye placed on his forehead.

His true form is that of an Ancient Dragon, with black and grey scales. He has three red eyes, surrounded by veins, a long and sharp snout, and black head spikes that run across his body to his tail. He also has a eye on his chest. His build is very skeletal due to the magic taking a toll on his original body. His wings are also incredibly tattered.
