Eleanor the Necromancer is the secondary antagonist of the videogame Demon King's Heir.
Biography[]
When the Demon King ruled terrorized Heldenland 300 years ago, Eleanor was the leader of a group of humans who pledged their loyalty to him and his Dark Forces, which would then become a sect known as the Ashen Preachers. As a reward for her loyalty, the Demon King granted her great longevity.
After the Demon King was defeated by the hero Mordred and his party, the dark lord spoke about a prophecy that said that, 300 years into the future, an heir would be born to be used as a blood sacrifice to resurrect him. Eleanor taught that to her followers and went into hidding for the next three centuries, waiting for the time of the prophecy to come.
To fulfill the ritual to resurrect her master, Eleanor would need the legendary sword used by Mordred, the Legendia, to slay the Demon King in order to taint it with the heir's blood. The sword was heavily guarded by Heldenland's royal guards and used by its ruler for generations. Some years before the prophecied time, Eleanor infiltrated the helden army as a monsterologist named Loreena, and began working for king Titus, hoping to steal the Legendia from him. However, the magic weapon had sensed the king's desire to exterminate all monsters over his duty of protecting his people, which made it reject him and be locked away as consequence. While thinking some way of reaching it, Eleanor began working as princess Nadia's most trusted advisor and confidant.
By the time of the prophecy, Nadia's mansion was attacked by a dämon unit led by officer Shogun, who kidnapped Nadia in order to use her as leverage against Titus. Loreena was captured as well and brought to the dämon base, where she managed to strike a deal with dämon general Vulkhan, in which she would be granted access to the Legendia and protection for Nadia in exchange of her sharing the helden army's secrets.
Vulkhan would be slain by Titus shortly after, but the remaining dämon officers remained true to their deal and had her support during their invasion of Heldenland, which culminated in the Hero King's demise and Nadia taking the throne, beginning a new era of peace between humans and monsters. However, during the final battle, the Legendia got stolen by an officer of the Mech Kingdom, which had been secretly building itself while its two neighbours fought each other.
Eleanor would spend the next year tracking the Legendia's thief until finding out the existance of the Mech Kingdom in an island weast from Dämonland, so she mobilized her hidden acolytes to infiltrate the kingdom and steal the sword from the machines inhabiting it, but to no avail. In the end, Eleanor decided to return to her Loreena persona once again and ask her allies in Dämonland and Heldenland for help, finding them about to fight Rona and her terrorist group. Rona's loyalty to the Dark Forces' old ways picked Eleanor's interest, prompting her to save the cat-lady and her slime minion Morty. She presented herself as the Necromancer and convinced her to join forces after displaying her necromancy at a dämon graveyard, where she revived Vulkhan to use him as an involuntary spy to Shogun and Nadia. After that, she asked Morty to use his shapeshifting abilities to take her place as Loreena and acompany the heroes in their assault to the Mech Kingdom, where they finally took the Legendia from the machines.
With the Legendia on the heroes' posession, Morty (still under his Loreena disguise) guided them to the meeting point he had with Rona and Eleanor, where the Necromancer finally revealed herself to them and, after taking the sword from them and injuring Shogun with it, was finally able to conduct the ritual and resurrect the Demon King, who teleported his followers back to his old castle. There, Eleanor broke the barrier that prevented anyone to enter the castle with the Legendia and, having it fulfilled its purpose, broke it so it couldn't be used against the Demon King anymore.
However, Shogun's unit managed to forge a new Legendia and lead and invasion to the castle, finally reaching the throne room and engaging her and the Demon King in a final battle in which both the Demon King and Eleanor were defeated. However, Eleanor managed to escape the battlefield barely alive, swearing to find a way to resurrect the Demon King once again. Her threats became an empty promise when she was finally killed by one of Shogun's followers before she could leave the castle.
