That lunatic Embryo went out of his way to kill her just to spite Zoro after the rest of those mail-riders like Ange, as well as Zoro's team, exposed the bastard for the fraud that he is.
~ Reborn recounting Embryo and how he became a lingering shadow to Zoro.
There is no evil in that heart of yours? Just look at you, Zoro Roronoa. A weakling and an unruly neanderthal. Think of this as a just reward for ruining my plans. Maybe, just maybe, you would soon learn the meaning of submission.
~ One of Embryo's taunting words to Zoro Roronoa in the past.
Let's see... You failed in stopping your Kuina from falling down the stairs years ago and now you failed miserably in stopping me at killing your little new friend Sylvia. It's a curse of being a pirate.
~ Another of Embryo's taunting words, this time by gloating at how he readily killed Sylvia with no remorse.

Lord Embryo, simply known as Embryo, is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Maltruant) of the Unity Force series.

Similar to his canon counterpart, he is the tyrannical and treacherous creator of the World of Mana, a former scientist, and the arch-enemy of the Norma (especially Jill), the Ancient Humans (especially Tusk), and the DRAGONs in general.

During the Unity Force's first mission to the world of Cross Ange (Earth-77922), a year before Chito and Yuuri joined in, he crossed paths with Zoro Roronoa and his team and became his greatest archenemy (alongside Tusk) due to Embryo being responsible for single-handedly murdering Sylvia Ikaruga Misurugi, as well as revealing to be behind the past defection of Maya Tendo to the Diamond Rose Knights.

Despite being dead for over a year, Embryo's shadow and his murder of Sylvia would continue to influence Zoro in the present during U.F. Missions: RAGE, making him a lingering thorn in Zoro's present life within the Unity Force. Additionally, his countless actions prior to the creation of the organisation made him the biggest influence in the series as a whole.

Appearance[]

Similar to his canon counterpart.

Personality[]

Similar to his canon counterpart.

In the Unity Force series, he's also a callous psychopath who revelled in killing children for his own benefit. One such example was his infamous murder of Sylvia Ikaruga Misurugi, Ange's formerly evil little sister and the person that had the most influence to Zoro's present after he managed to redeem her, in his goal of attempting to break his will. He was also responsible for forcibly turning Maya Tendo into the dark side, who would become a member of his Diamond Rose Knights, with Maya serving as his second-in-command, an action that greatly raged Zoro.

Background[]

Similar to his canon counterpart.

Pre-Chito and Yuuri era[]

Based on what Reborn mentioned during Chapter 9 of Unity Force Missions: RAGE and later in Chapter 14 of Unity Force Missions: Blue Reflection by Tusk and Shadow the Hedgehog, Embryo crossed paths with Zoro and the rest of his team during the Unity Force's first multiversal mission. In a similar fashion, he is revealed to be the creator of the World of Mana. After half of Zoro's team got separated, with Ange, Tusk, Zoro, Raiden, Vivian, Jinbe, and Buggy stuck on True Earth (Earth-77922α), Maya and half of Zoro's team were revealed to be stuck on False Earth (Earth-77922β) after Julio Asuka Misurugi's army attacked False Earth Arzenal. In the interim, it was revealed that Maya went missing and had not been located by the rest of the heroes until the rest visited the Misurugi residence on False Earth. Unknown to them, Embryo would take the chance to use her relationship to Zoro as a form of blackmail in an attempt to destroy the group through indirect means. His machinations would eventually turn her into being a member of his Diamond Rose Knights, serving as his right-hand woman.

After Sylvia was freed from his and Julio's brainwashing, to which Zoro finally befriended her, Embryo's enmity against the Unity Force would increase significantly shortly after Aura, the first DRAGON, was freed from her captivity, of which he made it his goal to destroy the Unity Force. He firstly turned on Maya for her failure by kidnapping her and Ange, using her as a bargaining chip to break Zoro's will, while doing acts of perversion to satisfy his deranged desires. He met stiff resistance after Ange used her song to allow the rest of the heroes including Salia to challenge him and his army in the timeless universe. Zoro and Tusk fought off against Embryo, with the former especially.

In an attempt to spite Zoro for no reason out of his pathetic display of villainous breakdown, Embryo in the midst of their battle would soon kill Sylvia by literally stabbing her heart with his sword right in front of Zoro himself, gloating at him at how not only he failed at saving Kuina from a fall, but also by being unable to save the girl that he worked his hardest to put her into the good side.

Eventually, this was what led to Zoro to lose it and challenged Embryo, which would soon lead to the latter's demise for good as Zoro landed the killing blow on him, avenging Sylvia and countless others from the madman.

Legacy[]

Despite that, however, the death of Sylvia from Embryo greatly affected Zoro to the point that even Reborn noted that he hasn't recovered from such traumatising incident.

Unfortunately for Zoro in the present, it resurfaced again after Zoro rescued Sherwood von Phoenix, one of Boris Alvingham's slaves to be transported to Capital Prime by the Authority, leading him to have his paternal instincts towards children come into full overdrive, which would lead to an attempted breakdown from his failure of saving Sylvia resurfaced again, much to Maya Tendo, Luffy, and Buggy's anger, after they completed their mission in rescuing the slaves at the Dam Facility.

Additionally, Chito, who was suffering from the reality that she is the missing member of the Taya family, had commented how she would end up like Zoro if she hadn't moved on from the grief of her being ripped apart from her life for two decades, mirroring Zoro's past losses at the hands of Embryo.

On the flipside, Embryo's death had also spurred the evolution of Unity Force with the alliance of Aura Midgardia and Max Tennyson, the first true multiversal alliance of the organisation, turning the once-ragtag hero team into a fully-fledged heroic organisation destined to protect the multiverse from external threats. His death completed Libertas, which also fast-tracked the creation of Point Ange in True Earth, the place where humans, Norma, and the DRAGONs live in harmony, which became the cradle of Unity Force's expansion as a statue of Aura and Max could be seen in the city square during Kento Nanami's visit.

His actions also would soon indirectly cause the appearance of the Phantom Brotherhood and its leader Black Matter in the present time.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being a mentioned antagonist, Embryo's personal villainy towards Zoro was what led the swordsman himself to still grapple with the consequences of Sylvia's death, making him indirectly responsible for the changed man Zoro has become.
