Emperor Arcturus was the Sovereign ruler and Head of State of the Imperium of Mogtopolis, a massive empire that stretched across about 10,000 light-years. Mogtopolis was born in the year 2020 AD, as one small island. Since that date, Mogtopolis exponentially grew. It then began to conquer weaker nations around it for materials and resources. It's now one tenth of the way of conquering the entire Milky Way Galaxy, but then collapsed in the year 2360 AD, having a firm presence for almost 340 years.
Arcturus himself was extremely power-hungry and extremely charismatic. His Imperium was Authoritarian, but not completely Dictatorial like the fascist and communist regimes of the 1930s. The Emperor allowed Freedom of Speech except against himself and the Imperial Government. He wielded great power, like no other Emperor. He had obtained a sword from a conquered exoplanet that could do incredible damage. He made himself immortal, with the help of Scientists developing a potion that gives Arcturus, and only Arcturus another 100 years of life. The Emperor could still be killed, but can now no longer die of natural causes.
The Emperor viewed himself as a great hero to his nation, and his propagandists depicted him as a great being that shouldn't be messed with. That's very true. He was a very powerful individual that could likely take out one to two exoplanets by himself. Arcturus already had incredible godlike powers. But he wanted more, which is why he attempted to conquer the entire Milky Way. Once he tried to harness the entire power of the Milky Way, he would've become Transcendent, and truly invincible. The Emperor saw the invasion of the Galaxy as a Great Crusade, and that it would all be for the brilliance of Mogtopolis. His Imperial scientists predicted that the Imperium of Mogtopolis will have complete control of the Galaxy by the year 2450. However, that never came to be, because Arcturus died in 2360, along with his empire.
The Entire Backstory of Arcturus
Arcturus' Origins
A man who started out as a mayor of one single island, known as Mogtopolis. Arcturus was once someone who was very humble. But as months went by, he was spoken to by unknown spirits. These spirits told him that he shall be the great ruler of the Milky Way. Arcturus, knew what he had to do. This would make him strong, imposing, powerful.
Birth of the Republic
And so he began, acquiring all of the island's resources and officially seceded away from Nook Inc, Making Mogtopolis into a Republic. His villagers gave him ovation, knowing he would be the one to bring this new republic to great heights. Arcturus, was now a Chancellor. He began to realize Mogtopolis needed an extremely powerful army to conquer other nearby islands. His Villagers, now known as citizens of Mogtopolis, enlisted in the republic's very first army. Mogtopolis' population began to skyrocket, as more and more people began to make their homes in this new republic.
Rapid Development
The republic's technology also began to boom quickly, as more and more people went into working. Pretty soon, Chancellor Arcturus realized that this method of enlisting people into his army wasn't efficient enough, so he began to think. And then he had an idea. His scientists created a powerful cloning machine that could clone anything. This could be used greatly to the republic's benefit. And so, he assigned a few army members to do a very special task, and that was to take a few Octolings, and a few Inklings from Inkopolis, back into Mogtopolis, to become cloned.
The New Cloned Military
Many more cloning machines were created for the octolings and inklings. Chancellor Arcturus dissolved his proto-army of citizens, and they soon went back into Mogtopolis' work forces. These cloned octolings and inklings showed undying loyalty to Chancellor Arcturus, and to his republic. These new soldiers showed far more zeal than the proto-army of Mogtopolis, and because of this, far more land was conquered. Arcturus was feeling unstoppable, and his republic continued to succeed for a while.
Declaration of the Empire
A while later, Mogtopolis now has a lot more citizens than it did before. On one incredible day, the Chancellor gave one of the most powerful speeches he had ever delivered, lasting about 30-45 minutes. In this speech, Arcturus declared the birth of the Empire of Mogtopolis, with him becoming the Emperor. This day was the point of no return. Never would Arcturus be in such a low position in life again. Also, The new Emperor declared the beginning of the War of Unification. This great war would unite all of the Earth under one banner: The Empire's.
The War of Unification
And so, the Emperor prepared his cloned soldiers for many, many battles to come. Many divisions in the cloned military were created: The Imperial Army, Navy, Aquatic Force, Air Force, and the Custodian Guard. The Custodians were highly trained, and showed incredible amounts of loyalty to Emperor Arcturus. They were to be his greatest Warriors. The entire might of the Mogtopolitan army showed in this war of unification. They were able to obtain countless victories, and eventually, the day came. Earth was unified under one flag. The Emperor gave another powerful, inspiring speech, in which he declared Mogtopolis an Imperium, no longer just an empire. Emperor Arcturus, was now on top of the world. His next step was to be on top of the Galaxy. He declared that Mogtopolis look toward the stars of the Milky Way. They will soon be under his control.
The Great Crusade
The Emperor's citizens built massive fleets for the Imperium. These vessels would allow Mogtopolis to travel interstellar distances. And so the Crusade began. This was to be Emperor Arcturus' most daunting task: To unite the entirety of the Milky Way. He had many, many cloned soldiers ready for such a goal.
The Tragic Collapse
On April 25th, 2360, The Imperium of Mogtopolis collapsed, and Emperor Arcturus was pronounced dead on the same day. His empire broke into many warlord states, and it is unlikely a successor state of Mogtopolis will ever rule... Or is it?
