Emperor Durrian is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Jon Kindy) of the Star Wars aftermath trilogy. He appears as the secondary antagonist of A New Empire and the main antagonist of The Final Journey.

He is the merciless, cunning and overtly evil monarch who leads the entire faction of The New Horde and he has control over his apprentice and personal bodyguard and right-hand man Jon Kindy and also the tyrannical military commander General Warrenton Hoskeath. Later, he gives both direct and indirect orders to Grand Admiral Wilkins.

He is portrayed by the famous actor Tom Hardy, who also plays Bane in the Dark Knight franchise, John Fitzgerald in The Revenant and Venom / Eddie Brock in the movie Venom.

History[]

Emperor Durrian is the ultimate ruler and leader of The New Horde, with Jon Kindy and General Hoskeath obeying his commands and operating under his guidance. In order to make Jon Kindy into his all powerful dark knight who is destined to defeat The Skywalkers and eliminate any source of Jedi, he orders Jon to find the key to Luke Skywalker's tomb, and obtain the required Jedi lightsaber which he has been trained for many years on how to use it.

Emperor Durrian then appears in a hologram in front of Kindy, and remarks that he has some doubts about his apprentice's success. Jon Kindy replies that he shall not fail and that what Vader could do in his entire journey through the dark side, he can do more. With some hopes and lots of doubt, The Emperor of The New Horde closes the hologram and sends Jon to his tasks.

Durrian later calls General Hoskeath for a meeting about the ultimate weapon of mass destruction which The Horde's military force has constructed, under Hoskeath's orders. Durrian accepts the weapon, and sends Hoskeath off so he could demonstrate his weapon on the planet of Corden.

However, The Skywalkers eventually bomb up the fuel generators, thus causing the entire fleet of The Horde and the massive death star to collapse and explode. Emperor Durrian orders General Hoskeath to fly his vehicle to the death star and rescue the injured Jon Kindy from the destruction of the planet.

Jon Kindy eventually recovered from his injuries and he found Luke's tomb as he then stole the lightsaber and reported about his success to Durrian. Durrian was proud of Jon Kindy, and he asked Kindy to turn Drilla Mandrex to the dark side for him. Jon however failed with this task as Drilla managed to resist the dark side and stay with the light. Grand Admiral Wilkins ordered his troops to execute order 903 and thereafter, many civilians from many species were killed by the troops. Millions have died due to Wilkins' plans, and Durrian asked him why he started a war against The Republic, thus showing that even he has more morals than Wilkins. However, when The Skywalkers came to defeat The Horde, Durrian drove a TIE fighter towards the rebels with intent of destroying them and protecting himself.

Eventually, the rebels invaded Durrian's ship and Senator Finch fought and eventually killed Durrian.

Personality[]

Emperor Durrian is the mischievous, cunning and ruthless monarch who has high hopes and ambitions to take over the entire universe. He is seen to have a deceiving and bitter attitude towards his enforcers, especially with Jon Kindy, as he scolds at Kindy a lot and doubts that he could ever succeed with their plans of taking over the world by eliminating The Jedi completely. He rules his own faction of The Horde with an iron fist, and he hopes to conquer more and more territories.

However, despite his ruthless and deceiving nature, he does have a little bit of morals, as shown in the second installment in which he angrily asks Wilkins why he started a war against the entire universe instead of killing off The Skywalkers and the true enemies of The Horde only.

Trivia[]

  • He was originally going to be the main antagonist of the first installment. However, as the script was changed, he became the Bigger Bad narrative, and the one who bosses around Kindy despite having only 1 and a half minutes of screen time.
