GAME OVER
~ The GAME OVER text displayed upon the eyeless Sonic becoming "End" at the climax of the fangame.

End otherwise known as Green Mountain Sonic is the main antagonist of the mysterious Sonic the Hedgehog fangame Green Mountain.

He is a version of Sonic who is encountered at the end of the game. Found at the top of the Green Mountain, at first, he simply stands there idle, before suddenly beginning to move to try and attack the version of Sonic that the player is playing as. Though this is only briefly, as once his health gets low enough, he'll start attempting to flee by breaking through the game's borders, but ultimately ends up unsuccessful, being killed by Sonic at the end.

Appearance[]

Prior to his current state, End was an eyeless version of Sonic the Hedgehog, retaining most of his features aside from the aforementioned lack of eyes. However, after spending a prolonged amount of time trapped atop the Green Mountain, his skin began to wither and melt off, completely losing his face, with his limbs, ears, and stomach becoming an eerie black.

Personality[]

Not much is known about End in the way of his personality. However, from what can be interpretated from his short encounter, he appears rather aggressive judging by how he immediately moves to attack the other version of Sonic after he reaches the top of Green Mountain. He also appears rather desperate to escape, as when his health reaches a low point, he stops trying to attack Sonic and instead tries to escape, however is unable to do so due to the invisible borders of the game.

Biography[]

Upon booting up Green Mountain, you find yourself playing as a mysterious, eyeless version of Sonic the Hedgehog in a very saturated version of what appears to be Green Hill Zone. Distorted music plays in the background as the gameplay itself is similar to the first official Sonic title, yet there are no enemies to be seen and, strangely enough, there is also fall damage.

Finding yourself at a green mountain, you navigate Sonic up the linear plain, jumping from platform to platform as you carefully navigate your way up the expanse, making sure not to fall to your untimely demise. Upon reaching the top, Sonic finds himself face-to-face with a strange version of himself, one who's body parts have withered away, completely lacking a stomach and face.

At first, the strange faceless version of Sonic does not move. Simply standing there, still as a statue as you find yourself boarded off from the rest of the world thanks to the level's invisible walls. It remains like this for awhile, nothing happening as you find yourself unable to escape. That is, until the faceless version of Sonic begins to move. It starts to attack the player, seemingly trying to go in for the kill. Naturally, you begin trying to defend yourself, avoiding his attacks and fighting back. As the faceless Sonic begins to lose more and more of his health, he stops trying to attack the player, instead attempting to flee the scene. He pushes against the level's borders, trying his hardest to escape, yet to no avail. Continuing to attack him, the faceless Sonic eventually dies, mimicking the usually death pose of Sonic, before melting into goop.

The eyeless Sonic, now left alone atop the green mountain, finds that he still has no way of escape. The level's invisible borders that box you in have no ceased, leaving him trapped with no way to go. As time ticks on the level grows darker and darker, and Sonic's skin begins to fall off. His limbs begin to rot into a pitch darkness until eventually, his face melts entirely. Losing the control you had over the now faceless Sonic, the only thing you can do is sit and watch as this version of Sonic becomes the very thing you had been fighting against just minutes prior. Revealing that this had been an endless loop the whole time, and now, it was up to whoever picked up the game next to continue the cycle of navigating an eyeless Sonic up a green mountain to face off against the end.

Trivia[]

  • The name "End" comes from the game's files as opposed to the game itself. As of now, this entity has no real name.
  • Within the game's files, there exists a hidden interaction between two nameless people who appear to be trekking up a mountain, talking of having to bury something as well as a mysterious "her" who they don't want to alert the attention of. It's unknown exactly how this relates to the fangame itself, but many have tried their hand at deciphering what exactly this means, with people concluding that this was the beginning of some sort of ARG. As of now, information is still developing but it's likely that we will get more context in the future.
