History[]
Black Panther[]
Erik Killmonger is the son of N'Jobu, who was exiled just before he was killed off by some African terrorist militants. Eversince, Erik has been plotting to take over the kingdom, thus he developed a grudge on the heir to the tribal throne, T'Challa. Some time later, he secretly made an alliance with the HYDRA agent Jasper Sitwell, and the two plotted to use HYDRA technology to build massive spaceships and launch an attack on the mainlands of the African continent. Erik swore to T'Challa and his father T'Chaka that by the time he finishes with them the royal family will be nothing more than trash in the desert. Erik later enters the throne room while T'Chaka was remembering his wife and looking at a picture of her. Erik told T'Chaka to say hello to his wife, just before he stabbed T'Chaka.
Erik Killmonger then framed T'Challa for the incident as an excuse for exiling him and usurping his throne. However, as T'Challa proposed to fight him for the throne, Killmonger agreed. The two fought with spears, as the one who shall break his opponent's spear would win the battle. Eventually, Erik breaks T'Challa's spear and usurps his throne, as the latter is exiled. However, when Killmonger asks Nakia to marry him so he could have full control over the kingdom, she refuses and leaves the kingdom of Wakanda to search for T'Challa. Eventually, T'Challa and Nakia team up with Nick Fury who introduces them to S.H.I.E.L.D. The coach Ali Mackenzie shapes T'Challa into the African superhero, The Black Panther. Erik in the meanwhile sells some of his technology to another one of Sitwell's clients, Ulysses Klaw. The Klaw goes to get his revenge on The Panther. However, T'Challa eventually kills off The Klaw, just before the attack on the mainland begins. After that, the city of Marrakesh is covered with HYDRA spaceships, and Erik equips himself with a second Black Panther costume. He orders his army to fire the weapons of all spaceships, but he then delays the attack for after he settles his old score on T'Challa/The Black Panther. He then wears his Panther suit and the two fight once again, as this time T'Challa breaks his spear and prepares to kill him ontop of a spaceship. However, The Panther decides to take back his throne and order the guards to imprison him, much to his frustration. He asks T'Challa why he isn't going to kill him, and T'Challa claims that he does not want blood on his hands. Erik, realizing how good T'Challa really is, apologizes for his crimes and reveals that he just wanted to live a better life. He is then seen arrested by the guards, as T'Challa takes his throne back and saves the entire Africa from a massive war with millions of casualties.
Black Panther: Sweet Home[]
Erik is sent into prison and guarded by Warden Hammed. However, unexpectedly, Ulysses busts him out of prison and the two go back to Wakanda to save it from being cursed by the dark sorcerer Tetu, but also intend to kill T'Challa as an act of vengeance.
However, out of conflict and remorse for his actions, he warns T'Challa that Ulysses Klaw is coming for him and that he wants to usurp the kingdom.
The Klaw then attacks T'Challa, but Erik tells him to stop attacking him since Tetu has already cursed the lands. Tetu almost kills The Black Panther, but Erik stops the fight, and temporarily teams up with Ulysses, T'Challa and Nakia, as the four of them travel to lift the curse and defeat Tetu by finding the dark crystal and using the dark magic it holds.
As they travel in the African forest lands, T'Challa insists that they stay in a house that doesn't belong to them. Erik disagrees, and the two argue and fight, as Erik almost kills him out of rage, but Nakia solves the argument by telling them both that they must cooperate until the curse is lifted.
While Erik doesn't notice, Ulysses tries to backstab him, out of lust for power and need to rule Wakanda by himself, without Killmonger. However, Killmonger eventually notices him and asks him what he is doing in his room.
Ulysses pretends to care for Erik, and Erik offers him an equal position as the ruler of Wakanda after they usurp T'Challa once again. This is cause Erik does genuinely care for Ulysses. Ulysses agrees, and sarcastically tells him to rest for the night, as their work shall "pay" them later.
Erik is then attacked by a Wakandian cursed zombie. Ulysses pretends to come and help Erik, but as he reaches for Erik he stabs him with his light sword and lets the zombie finish him off. This meant that Klaw has betrayed Erik Killmonger.
Personality[]
Erik Killmonger is a tragic sociopath, since he lost his father at a young age, and he was filled with hatred towards the royal family of the tribe ever since. He possibly also believes that the African mainland populace are all bad, just because a few of them killed his father. Killmonger also felt remorse near the film's climax, as he realized that T'Challa is a very good person.
However, in the second movie, he seemed to be somewhat totally conflicted between vengeance and remorse for his crimes.
