King Ernie, also known as the Cactus Fall Guy, is the main antagonist of the SMG4 episode SMG4: If Mario was in... Fall Guys.
He is a fall guy who is the king of the Fall Guys Kingdom. He hosts multiple obstacle course contests, of which he is always the winner. However, he usurped the role of king from his brother Bert by surprise. He also made a machine which skins anyone who loses his contests.
History[]
Background[]
Prior to the events of the episode, Bert served as the benevolent king of the Fall Guys Kingdom. However, Ernie became jealous of him and lusted the crown for himself. One day, Ernie usurped Bert of his crown, paralyzing him from the legs down with a toy mallet in the process. Afterwards, he exploited the fall guys by forcing them and other people to participate in grueling and deadly obstacle courses for revenue.
SMG4: If Mario was in... Fall Guys[]
After watching an advert for one of the obstacle course contests, Mario decides to enter the contest to get a new crown for Princess Peach after he sold her old one to pay for the pizza he ordered. During the contest, he fights against multiple opponents for the goal, including Ernie himself. However, Ernie wins the contest, leading to Mario and the other contestants being eliminated and dropped into the chamber containing the skin-harvesting machine, where he meets a now wheelchair-bound Bert.
Bert explains the entire story of his usurpation and Ernie's rise to power, only for the machine to activate soon after. However, Mario manages to destroy the machine by dropping a fall guy into its incinerator, after which he confronts Ernie, who rushes off to his office to protect his crown. Mario gives chase and, with Bert's help, gets the crown first and defeats Ernie. Afterwards, Bert reclaims his throne, while Ernie is left tied up to be pelted with food.
Appearance[]
Ernie is a red fall guy wearing a cactus suit. He also wore a hamburger suit to distract Mario.
Trivia[]
- Ernie is considered by many as one of the evilest villains in the entire SMG4 series, even rivaling Francis, mainly due to his brutal skinning of the losers of his obstacle courses. He does, however, have several comedic moments (an example being when he yells “Curse you, Perry the Platypus!”).
- Ernie is named after the character of the same name from the children's TV series Sesame Street, like how King Bert is named after the character of the same name from the same series.
