The Evil Queen is the main protagonist of the webseries The Villains Lair by PattyCake Productions. She is a wicked, vain monarch who works with the other villains to undo their losses and rewrite fate so that they are victorious.

She is portrayed by Michelle Knight.

Biography[]

The Evil Queen was once married to the king of her kingdom. To ensure her rule, she somehow killed him. Despite this, she was primarily obsessed with being the "fairest of them all", and would frequently consult her omniscient Magic Mirror to have it remind her that she still held that status. One day, the Mirror told her that her stepdaughter Snow White was more fair, and so the Evil Queen tried to have her killed. Snow White escaped, making her way to a cottage owned by seven dwarfs. Upon learning that Snow White was still alive, the Queen disguised herself as a hag and made her way to the cottage with a poisoned apple, tricking Snow White into eating it and falling into a sleep like death. The dwarfs caught on to the ruse and chased the Queen to a cliff, where a lightning strike caused the Queen to plummet into the sea below.

Though technically dead, the Queen was found and resurrected by Ursula the Sea Witch, who did so under the condition that the Queen help her usurp her brother, King Triton. The Evil Queen used some of the magic she aquired to resurrect Maleficent, who in turn resurrected or gathered together all the other villains. The Evil Queen and Maleficent, realizing they were both in debt to Ursula, had all the villains combine thier power to seal her away. Together, the villains began plotting ways to get revenge on the heroes and change their fates.

The Queen schemes with the other villains on how to get revenge. Newcomer Dr. Faciller reveals that he knows of a way they can change fate, encouraging the villains to cast a spell to reverse time. Though the spell seemingly fails, he has a different idea.

While she waits, the Queen talks with Lady Tremaine and Mother Gothel abou the terrible nature of motherhood and how much their harsh methods really shaped their daughters into stronger people.

Faciller talks about an item known as the Sundial of Cronus, where the ancient titan of time Cronus was imprisoned, that allows its user to control time. They discover that they would need to use the dial under a blood moon for it to work, and Maleficent reveals that she can make one with her magic if provided the sundial. Faciller tells them that the dial is protected at the Princess Academy, and the Evil Queen goes in disguise to try and retrieve it.

The Queen disguises herself as the oracle Themis, traveling to the Princess Academy. Successfully tricking Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora into letting the dial's keeper, Megara, show the artifact room to her. However, upon arriving, she discovers the sundial missing, with Megara telling her that an envoy from Atlantica came and retrieved it already. The Queen leaves in fury, and as revenge tries to ruin the Princess Academy's Christmas celebration by using magic to create a snowstorm and try and freeze their guest Merlin, though this fails with Elsa and Anna's involvement.

The Queen returns furious, and she and the others realize that Ursula has the sundial. They then realize that the spell that seemingly failed was one that Faciller used to free Ursula from her banishment. Ursula herself infiltrated the Lair some time ago under the disguise of Vanessa, and reveals herself. She and Faciller reveal that the dial can only be used by a god or the direct descendant of one, and as Ursula is the daughter of Poseidon, she is the only one that can use it. She offers a deal, but the other villains refuse and she and Faciller leave.

The Queen and the others ponder what to do. While some want to consider Ursula's offer, the Evil Queen realizes that they could resurrect fellow villain and god Hades to use the dial for them. However, his soul is trapped in the River Styx, and the only magic strong enough to bring him back is that of the Black Cauldron in the land of Morva. The villains plot to invite the Cauldron's keepers, the Witches of Morva, to them in a fake exchange for the Magic Mirror while Captain Hook, Cruella De Vil, and Prince Hans Westergaard go to Morva and steal the Cauldron. Maleficent volunteers to go, much to the Evil Queen's suspicion.

The Evil Queen then catches Maleficent having visited Oogie Boogie, trading a kidnapped Santa Claus for his spirit dice, which can control shadows and be used as a weapon against Faciller. She confronts Maleficent, demanding to know what she is up to. They both argue about the deals they made with Ursula and who is responsible for bringing the villains back. They leave each other, bitter and suspicious.

As the Queen spies on Snow White and watches her angrily, she is approached by Jafar. He reveals that he heard her argument with Maleficent. He attempts to fall into favor with her, revealing that he used hypnosis on Hook, Cruella, and Hans to make them forget about the Cauldron should they fall into enemy hands. Though this impresses the Queen, she refuses to acknowledge him further.
