~ The news' headline announcing the resurrection of Fazbear Entertainment |
Fazbear Entertainment, Incorporated is the main antagonistic organization in Five Nights at Freddy's fanfiction Mike's New Ghostly Family, by Archcommander-Tenebros.
Fazbear Entertainment is a corrupt corporation in charge of Fazbear's franchise that is infamous for its horrible working conditions, greedy practices and many tragedies associated with the franchise, including Bites of '83 and '87 and deaths of multiple children and the nightguards who worked at the company's establishments. Though it seemingly closed down for good, it managed to resurface and return back to prominence years later, with Mike Schmidt and his ghostly children working to prevent them from bringing harm to the population with their greed, corruption and negligence.
History[]
Fazbear Entertainment was co-founded by Henry Emily and William Afton somewhere in the 1980's, some time after the founding of its predecessor, Fredbear's Family Diner. Initially, it was a successful corporation, until William Afton murdered his business partner Henry's daughter, Charlie, and five more kids in the pizzeria. Later, in 1983, William Afton's son Michael stuffed his younger brother Evan into Fredbear's jaws, resulting in an animatronic crushing his head, and as a result, Fredbear's Family Diner was shut down.
Somewhere in 1980's, they opened a second Freddy Fazbear's Pizza restaurant, which was closed due to the fact that animatronics had Missing Children Incident's victims' corpses hidden inside, contributing to their foul odor. In 1987, it was reopened with Toy animatronics, though it was shut down as well due to the Mangle biting off a dayshift worker's frontal lobe, an incident that would be later known as the Bite of '87. In the 90's, they opened a third restaurant, which was much more successful, before it eventually went bankrupt. For the entire time both pizzerias were opened, many nightguards have perished at hands of resident animatronics, with Fazbear Entertainment never informing the nightguards of the risks that were present at their jobs and always covering up their deaths with Missing Person Reports, threatening anyone who tells them of their corrupt business practices with high-price lawsuits, and despite the fact that a threat would be greatly diminished by lowering the animatronics' AI level, they never bothered to perform the changes.
These corrupt business practices disgusted the franchise's founder Henry and his friend and fellow business partner Nelson MacGregor, the latter leaving the corporation out of disgust. Mike Schmidt used to work at the 90's pizzeria in the year 1993 as the nightguard, serving his shift for 20 nights before setting all animatronics' AI to 0 for his last nightshift and getting fired as a result, though by lowering animatronics' AI he ensured the survival of all future nightguards that worked at pizzeria. Once the 90's pizzeria went bankrupt, the resident animatronics were dismantled by William Afton, the ghost children that were temporarily released attacking the murderer, who attempted to hide inside the Spring Bonnie suit and died from springlock accident as a result.
A year after Fazbear's Fright, a horror attraction made by enthusiasts who wanted to cash in on Fazbear's horror and tragedies, burned down, Henry Emily reopened the restaurant for the last time to serve as a trap for William Afton. Cooperating with his daughter Charlie, possessing the Marionette/Lefty, and (unbeknowest to either of them) Michael Afton, who salvaged all the necessary animatronics (Scraptrap, Scrap Baby and Molten Freddy), Henry burned down the restaurant, ending Afton's tainted legacy for good.
For a while, it was assumed that the burning of Henry's trap pizzeria would serve as the final nail to the franchise's coffin. However, much to the dismay of Mike Schmidt and the ghosts of children who died at Fazbear-related establishments, Fazbear Entertainment would be revived several years later after its seeming final death, intending to clear its tainted name and discredit its past tragedies. Forcing Scott Cawthon to surrender the rights to the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise by threatening to sue him if he doesn't comply, they planned to re-release the games as a compilation VR game called "Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience", cooperating with Silver Parasol Games in developing the game, and paint them as fictitious joke stories.
Unfortunately for the corporation, the police state of Utah caught them red-handed, revealing that child murders did happen in Fazbear-related establishments, with clear evidence provided, completely invalidating their claims that Fazbear's franchise had no tragic past. The scandal erupted, and many beta testers quitted their jobs out of disgust. To save their image, Fazbear Entertainment pinned the blame on the scapegoat, claiming that their spokesperson misspoke due to not knowing the full picture and was fired for that, and backpedaling on their discreditment attempts by claiming to be commemorating the franchise's tragedies instead, "showing how hope and a brighter future can rise above the weight of the past".
As the scandal raged on, Mike Schmidt had arrived to the office building of Fazbear Entertainment, having scheduled a meeting with Mr. Averus, one of corporation's executives. Taking advantage of their desperate situation, he decided to become the game's beta tester to investigate their VR game for himself, revealing that he used to work for Fazbear Entertainment as the nightguard, blackmailing them with the fact that he can reveal the company's atrocious business practices to public, with the secrecy contract not holding him back anymore due to its expiration and the fact that he can easily pay off the lawsuit should it happen. Afterwards, Mike convinced Mr. Averus to delay the game release by two months, provide him with a copy of VR game and allow him to beta test it with the condition that, once he has finished testing it, he'll provide them with suggestions that would be needed to implement in the release version.
However, as Mike and his ghostly children eventually discover, Fazbear Entertainment inadvertedly created Glitchtrap, a malicious virus/fragment of William Afton's soul, created by scanning the circuits of Springtrap's remains, with the Remnant that possessed the particles of his soul allowing him to come to existence. As Mike was able to defeat Glitchtrap, he learns from his foe that every single copy of VR game possesses its own Glitchtrap, and that, should the game get released, thousands of people might get possessed by fragments of Afton's soul and become murderers. Once he contacted Nightmare about the situation, the demon lord agreed to stop him, and with the help from Old Man Consequences, he and the Nightmares performed a ritual that destroyed every single copy of the game that was infected with Glitchtrap, coincidentally exploding the warehouses that storaged the games, leaving behind one copy from which Glitchtrap had managed to escape.
Fazbear Entertainment was outraged by this turn of events, and Mr. Averus, believing that Mike Schmidt was the culprit, contacted him and demanded that he arrives to their office, only to learn that Schmidt went on vacation with Eisensteel, the company that he used to work for, completely disproving the possibility that he was the one who blew up their warehouses. Desperate, he asked for Schmidt to return his copy to use it for mass-producing their VR game, only to learn that one of their former beta testers still had their copy with them, the one from which Glitchtrap had escaped. Once Schmidt had arrived, the executive revealed that they are going to use the beta tester's copy for mass-producing their game instead, and Mike, after learning that they are struggling with video game developers, decided to bring Nightmare in, the demon lord taking the human form and adopting the alias of Matt R. Nacht, a private video game developer who'd agree to work for their game completely for free in exchange for complete autonomy over their video game development. Given the desperate situation, Mr. Averus agreed, thus granting Nightmare an opportunity to ensure that Glitchtrap would never be able to repossess the game.
The game was released, with the new content and "Curse of Dreadbear" DLC that was added by Nightmare to ensure that Glitchtrap won't return, and it became a commercial success, met with positive reception by critics and players alike. However, Fazbear Entertainment wouldn't enjoy their success for long, since Nelson MacGregor, a former Fazbear Entertainment executive, revealed all of the corrupt, greedy and immoral practices of Fazbear Entertainment's past incarnation to the public, making the information about deaths of many nightguards a public knowledge, striking the corporation with another scandal.
As the flames all over the Internet raged on, with ghost children using fake accounts to fan the flames and force the corporation to take the right initiative, Mike Schmidt was contacted by Mr. Averus, who demanded the man to come over to his office. There, he started accusing Mike of cooperating with Nelson to ruin Fazbear Entertainment, but Schmidt countered it with the fact that they can't prove it and the public wouldn't care about that, given the controversy, also threatening to reveal everything bad about Fazbear Entertainment to public for their "ungratefulness". Averus was forced to concede defeat and asked Mike for advice on how to deal with the PR disaster. With the window of opportunity to influence Fazbear Entertainment into doing the right thing opened, Mike adviced them to admit their past failings and promise to public that they'd improve for better, and actually keep their promise. Though the executive wanted to refuse due to belief that it would be a waste of time and money, Mike responded that controversies that will happen if they won't keep their promise would mark the corporation's grave, an outcome that would be much more undesirable to them than the simple loss of money.
With no other option, Mr. Averus agreed to present Mike's suggestions to the board of directors, though as the ghost children would find out from spying on him, Fazbear Entertainment would accept these suggestions only temporarily until the flames die down and they won't be burdened by the need of keeping the good reputation anymore. Eventually, Fazbear Entertainment made a public apology, confirming all tragedies of Fazbear Entertainment's past incarnation as real and promising to public that they will not repeat the mistakes of their predecessors, putting an effort to make their apology sound as sincere as possible, with the public being divided, with ones treating them with cautious optimism and others still refusing to accept their apology until they show signs of improvement.
After the Schmidt family went on a winter vacation to New York, Fazbear Entertainment decided to kickstart their Fazbear Funtime Service program, trying to find a robotics company to partner up with to mass-produce hundreds of animatronics to deliver to customers right to their homes. Their first option was trying to partner up with Eisensteel, a robotics company where Mike Schmidt used to work at. However, Mike and the ghosts were able to save Eisensteel from being involved in Fazbear Entertainment's greedy practices by informing their chief engineer Melody Park of the corrupt corporation's controversies, both of past and present incarnations, with her presenting the evidence of controversies to Eisensteel's board of directors, thus ensuring that Eisensteel declines their offer. However, they were able to partner up with a different robotics company, smaller in scale and resource, but more unsculpruous and willing to overlook Fazbear Entertainment's controversies.
Some time before their program was ready, Mr. Averus called Mike Schmidt to reveal to him the information about Fazbear Entertainment's new Fazbear Funtime Service program, explaining that in few months, they will be ready to start selling and delivering animatronics to their customers. Afterwards, Mr. Averus explained to Mike that the brought the former nightguard was brought to him because Averus was told by the board of directors to ask Mike for feedback to see what suggestions he can present to improve their delivery service, with Mike suggesting to refrain from sending them all en-masse, instead suggesting to send a few animatronics to people as a special premier early-bird deal to test whether they'll pose a threat or not, so that tons of people won't be endangered at once. Afterwards, Mr. Averus offered Mike whether he'd like to accept an animatronic as "a sign of gratitude" and to provide them with an opportunity to evaluate an animatronic's performance and provide them with a feedback. Mike told that he would contemplate their offer for a few days (to prepare himself and the ghosts for the newest revelations and to not come off as too suspicious to Fazbear Entertainment) and returned back home.
Eventually, Mike Schmidt settled on purchasing Toy Bonnie, expecting it to go haywire and start wrecking his home to record it on cameras to use as an evidence to blackmail Fazbear Entertainment into cooperation. At night, Mike's expectations were proven to be correct, and Toy Bonnie went haywire and started destroying stuff as the cameras recorded it. However, Toy Bonnie would end up tracking down Mike himself and attack him directly, breaking his arm and leg before the man forcibly deactivated him with a shock. The injuries Mike sustained resulted in him getting hospitalized, but the footage of Toy Bonnie's rampage would eventually be used by the ghost children against Fazbear Entertainment, as they (under the guise of Mike himself) e-mailed them that, if they won't delay the release of their "Fazbear Funtime Service" program, the videos of Toy Bonnie rampaging would go to public, destroying their reputation.
With no option left, Fazbear Entertainment delayed the release of "Fazbear Funtime Service" for months until they reach the consensus with Mike Schmidt and were forced to focus on solving the issues with animatronics. However, one executive who learned of Mike Schmidt's background as skilled robotics engineer requested that Mr. Averus uses his knowledge to their advantage. Afterwards, Mr. Averus sent Mike an e-mail requesting a meeting in the near future to find a way to exploit Schmidt's usefulness. Mike responded by requesting him to visit a hospital room where he's in, with Averus agreeing to visit him a day later in the afternoon.
Once Mr. Averus came into his hospital room and the two were given privacy for their discussions, Mike Schmidt informed him that his friend Melody revealed that the Toy Bonnie animatronic was actually tampered with by external agent, while threatening that, if it weren't the case, then he would've simply crashed their project by sending his Toy Bonnie attack videos online. Losing patience, Averus immediately revealed that his plan is to hire Mike Schmidt as a robotics engineer to ensure that their program would not fail. After some musing, Mike decided to consider their job offer, agreeing to do a completely free full-time job, but under the conditions that he will be their head engineer, that his change suggestions, no matter how costly, will be accepted if he'd be able to rationalize it, and that he'd be working incognito, with his name never displayed on the work projects, threatening them with lawsuits if they dare to violate this condition, on the top of threatening them with publishing Toy Bonnie videos on the internet. Afterwards, Mike reminded them that he's doing their work not for Fazbear Entertainment's sake, but to ensure that no one gets hurt, and that he will publish the videos should he feel that he won't be able to convince Fazbear Entertainment to take the correct course of action. With no choice left, Mr. Averus agreed to present his case to his fellow executives and left.
However, as Mike soon learned, Susie accidentally placed Fazbear Entertainment into the crosshairs of Nightmare's fury by venting to him about the incident with Toy Bonnie, as the demon now decided to take matters of Fazbear Entertainment into his own hands. Invading the minds of half of corporation's executives in the middle of the night when they were sleeping, Nightmare and his fellow Nightmares subjected them to torture before giving them an ultimatum: that they ensure that Mike's plans would be successful, that they won't conspire against Mike, and that they would not discuss his arrival with anyone, not even their fellow victims. Once they agreed, he departed, ensuring that Mike's plans would be a success.
However, this act of aggression would backfire as Mr. Culpo, a member of the board, went on TV and expose many of the company's misdeeds before quitting. This worried the Schmidts, as it damaged their chances of keeping Fazbear Entertainment in check.
