I’m afraid you're wrong!! It probably is too late!!! You have ruined my life, my own relations with my family!!! I will not hesitate to kill you, Azurof!!!
~ The wrathul Nazira betrays Azurof
Uhmm, so what about me? I don’t want to do harm to anyone. I was just doing my duty.
~ Nazira showing remorse and inner conflict

Princess Nazira is the anti-heroic deuteragonist in the anime series The Chosen One. She is the princess of the Shadow Kingdom who was exiled since her youth from the land and her aim is to regain her honor and strength by killing Azurof and destroying his legacy.

She serves as the anti-heroic secondary antagonist of the first season's "Life and Death" arc and the deuteragonist in the "Shadow Era" arc, where she secretly redeems herself and aids Azurof and his crew behind The Shadow Kingdom's back. She makes her final appearance in the "Reunion" arc as the tritagonist.

She will return in the 2022 sequel trilogy as the one of the two main protagonists (alongside Azurof).

In the 2020 fanfilm reboot called Legend of The Chosen One she was portrayed by Megan Fox who also played as Jennifer Check.

History[]

She at first crosses paths with Azurof, before she learnt that he is actually The Chosen One. However, Prince Jinogo arrives and reveals to her that Azurof is the chosen one. After remembering how she was mistreated by her own kingdom, she fights Azurof and seemingly manages to kill him in her own hands. Jinogo praises her infront of their father King Zadul and she becomes the greatest hero of the Shadow Kingdom.

Nazira however meets with her rival General Maddanos, and the two begin a competition as they both know that Azurof is alive somehow, but Maddanos wants to prove that he is alive and kill the chosen one instead of Nazira, while Nazira wants to simply rectify her mistakes by getting rid of him.

Nazira travels with her pet Moono and during her voyage she decides to pretend to be nice to Azurof, so she could become his girlfriend and later betray and kill him when he doesn't notice. She joins The Chosen One on his voyage, and they eventually fall in love, as the two exit the ship on an island and they leave Garrushon and Moono behind, as Maddanos kidnaps them both. Nazira reveals her true motives to Azurof and she tries to kill him but he escapes her wrath.

Nazira later hires the killer of Azurof's mother, Maestro Gemeno, in order to get rid of the chosen one. However, Nazira kills Gemeno and informs Azurof and his crew about their task to save the universe by receiving the ying yang signature from The Duke of Life. Eventually, they find the duke, and Azurof recieves the signature. However, Nazira decides to betray them once again so she could kill Azurof and end the legacy of the chosen one. Madannos however finds him first, but he decides to spare him (at least for a while) so he could first kill the duke and take the signature for himself. Azurof, who senses danger in the land of Naleef, summons one of the elementals called Egora in order to destroy any threat. Egora banishes the brutal General Maddanos to the realm of afterlife, thus killing him off. Nazira thought that Egora came to kill her too, but Egora spares her and tells her to put the past aside and correct her misdeeds by apologizing to Azurof, who also has hopes for her turning to the good side.

Redemption[]

Nazira then returns home as she spends her entire day outside the castle, as the citizens of the Shadow Kingdom now see her as a returning heroine. During the following night, she returns home to the castle and speaks to Jinogo, who helped her kill the chosen one. However, Jinogo begins to suspect that the chosen one is still alive, and even goes as far as informing King Zadul that Azurof still needs to be found. Zadul gave Nazira a last chance to rectify her mistake, but Nazira realized that he doesn't truly respect her for who she is, but only uses her for his own agendas, and therefore she decides to secretly team up with Azurof and his crew. She secretly gives Azurof the key to Garrushon's prison chamber and she even helps them escape custody by killing off Shadow General Kiros. She then congratulates them for escaping, before she returns to the castle and sleeps.

The following day, Jinogo went to the fire kingdom of Ederal with intent to conquer it by conspiring against it's king Tarten together with his loyalist and double agent, Sangu. Nazira comes in secret to Ederal disguised as an assassin named The Green Devil, and she secretly rescues Ziara from the claws of Sangu and his guards. She reveals herself, and then she returns home safely.

Eventually, she starts remembering her past with her mother Sandara who was abducted by Zadul, whom forced her to marry him. Nazira was Sandura's favourite child, and even when Jinogo bullied her, Sandara came to protect her. Sandara either escaped or in the other case, she was eventually killed by Zadul behind King Dracus' back. Nazira then thinks of going to find her mom and she realizes that Azurof is the only one who truly cared for her and accepted her as she is. She decided to betray Zadul and Jinogo and assist Azurof in his quest to save the world and defeat Zadul.

Princess Aqua also reveals to Azurof and his crew that Sandara came from the water kingdom of Aquatima, and therefore Nazira is also a water elemental, besides her dark powers.

Becoming the queen of shadows[]

She later confronted her father Zadul and stood up against him, thus promising to put an end to his reign of terror and join Azurof's quests at all costs, to bring worldwide peace. King Zadul however revealed her that he has tortured Sandara to her death, because she was foiling his plans to become an all powerful warlord. After she ran out of the castle, she came to Azurof and she assisted him and his crew on the final quest to defeat King Zadul and his enforcers. Nazira stoped Jinogo from killing Brontus and Jaspita, and then she proposed a battle to death for the throne of the kingdom. Jinogo agreed and the two started battling to death. However, as Jinogo almost killed the redeemed princess, Cristoph intervenes and uses his powers against Jinogo. Jinogo seemingly kills Cristoph, just before the angered Princess Nazira creates a tidal wave, which prevents Jinogo from moving since he cannot swim out of the tidal wave. She then puts on Jinogo handcuffs, and takes the throne from the chaotic, ruthless prince. As Nazira leaves him behind for good, Jinogo cries out loud. After Zadul is defeated and most likely sent to prison with Jinogo, Nazira is crowned as the "Shadow Queen" and she thanks Azurof for everything, thus even wishing him to live a happy life with his wife Aqua.

Legend of The Chosen One[]

Nazira appears as a prominent antagonist turned anti-heroic tritagonist in the fanmade live-action reboot. She at first tries to hunt the chosen one, and she intends to regain the trust and respect from Zadul by ruining Azurof's legacy forever and competing with her rival Maddanos.

She is rather presented as an insecure, tragic woman and she is far from being a monster (just like her anime counterpart) as she even feels remorse after Egora spares her.

Personality[]

Princess Nazira is a tragic young woman who often faces the chosen one not because she wants to hurt anyone, but because of obsession with killing him and regaining her family's trust and honor. She infact did show some remorse when Egora spoke to her. She had inner conflict of wether to kill Azurof or remain loyal to him until they defeat her father Zadul together. However, Nazira later changes sides in secret and redeems herself, becoming an ally to the chosen one and his crew during the later parts of the story.
