The American organism was born degenerate, the product of the twin diseases of miscegenation and liberalism. One series of numen in particular poisons the American mind: E Pluribus Unum. The Unum has been destroyed by the many. It has been embezzled by the Jews. It has been raped by the Negro. It has been barbarized by the Slav.
~ Description of the focus titled "The Yockey Presidency."

Francis Parker Yockey is a character in the Hearts of Iron 4 mod The New Order: Last Days of Europe. A member of the American National Vanguard within the National Progressive Pact (NPP), Yockey is one of the candidates in the 1972 United States presidential election, and thus a potential President of the United States. He is the only potential president representing National Socialism (Nazism), and his supporters are on the fringes of the American political spectrum.

Biography[]

Backstory[]

Francis Parker Yockey was born on the 18th of September 1917 in the city of Chicago, Illinois. He studied at Notre Dame Law School to become an attorney. In his college years in the 1930s, he took an interest in National Socialism (Nazism) and Adolf Hitler. He joined and worked with many American fascist groups during these years, and was noted to avoid dining with black or Jewish students in college.

In 1948, he published a treatiste on his political ideology titled Imperium: The Philosophy of History and Politics. He joined the National Progressive Party (NPP) and founded an ultra far-right branch within it called the American National Vanguard, known to their opponents as "Yockeyites."

In-Game Canon[]

Yockey starts the year 1962 as an alienated figure in American politics. His open support for Nazi Germany makes him very unpopular among the American people. He can only run for president in the 1972 election.

As President (potentially)[]

Under specific in-game circumstances, Yockey can win the 1972 election and become President of the United States. Excluding cheat codes, Yockey can only win if virtually all of his predecessors make almost constant failures when in office.

Should Yockey win the 1972 election and become president, his inaguration speech will have him swear on his own book Imperium instead of on the Bible or another religious text.

Early on in his presidency, Yockey will crack down on dissidents in the military and will use the FBI to spy on political opponents. He will also have the US Treasury give money to German intelligence agents (who, in many cases, are really Burgundian agents in disguise). He will then announce that the federal government will no loger enforce Civil Rights legislation in the Southern states (as he cannot directly repeal these laws yet). Yockey will also worsen the country's academic base to prevent them from opposing his regime. He will use voter intimidation to prevent non-pro-Yockeyite voters from participating. Under his presidency, the Southern states will be plagued by Ku Klux Klan riots that impede construction speed.

From his high position of power, Yockey will incite acts of violence and racial hatred. One of the later actions done by Yockey in office is passing the "Safeguarding America's Fundamental Exceptionalism" (SAFE) Act. The SAFE Act creates an agency in the government that will censor the press in the country, giving the Yockey regime a firm control of America's media and the power to censor so-called "law-breaking degenerative media-sources."

Personality[]

Francis Parker Yockey is depicted as petty, spiteful, and deeply bigoted. In one instance as president, he destroys most of the transition letters he can get from his presidential predecessors. If his predecessor as president was Wallace Bennet, then Bennet's letter will be one urging him to redeem himself and consider what he's doing to the country. If his SAFE Act is vetoed by congress, Yockey will be furious that the cause of Nazism is being undermined, and will respond by being more willing to use force in quelling protests. If Konstantin Rodzaevsky, the fascist leader of Amur, is still around at the time Yockey is elected, then Rodzaevsky will congradulate Yockey on winning. Yockey will respond to this by rejecting the thanks, going on a rant about how Slavic civilization is inferior and the support of Rodzaevsky is is no more valuable than that of a dog. He often speaks of the very foundations of the USA such as the Constitution to be the reasons for it's cultural decay.

Yockey frequently writes and speaks in a very flowery, dense style with lots of long words meant to make him sound eloquent. It actually comes across as confusing and incomprehensible to most people. For example, if the SAFE Act is vetoed by congress, the event "The Vexations of the Vanguard" has Yockey tell his Vice President that "you fail to understand me if you misconstrue my soul's perturbedness if you construct it into the childlike frustration felt like men such as Secretary Crommelin, and all the inbred 'patriots' scurrying about in the Midwest and South, (...)" and so on.

Trivia[]

  • The developers of The New Order: Last Days of Europe consider a Yockey presidency to be the worst possible path America can take.
  • Something of a meme among the TNO community is how all of Yockey's focuses are written in a very flowery purple prose that make it hard to understand what he's even talking about. The Reddit user /u/Zweckpessimist even made a two-part post called "A Yockey to English Translation of the Yockey Focus Tree" (Part I, Part II) to help players figure out what he's saying.
  • If the Second West Russian War submod, which contains skeleton content for 1976 America elections, is installed, then it would be heavily implied in said skeleton content that the Yockey administration was so brutal that it led to the House of Representatives preparing to impeach him after violating multiple constitutional amendments. In response, Yockey calls on his followers to rise up against democracy, leading to massive racial violence against Jewish and African-Americans and the establishment of death camps for Japanese-Americans. Yockey's attempted self-coup could see him succeed and fully convert America into a fascist state, be overthrown by either the military or the Weather Underground. Alternatively Yockey is killed, but his regime survives and radicalizes further under his Secretary of State, William Luther Pierce.
