Freeza is one of the main antagonists of in Team Four Star's Dragon Ball Z Abridged series, appearing as the main antagonist of Season 2, the Bardock special and HFIL as well as a minor antagonist in Season 3. He is the arrogant, cruel, sadistic and narcissistic leader of the Freiza Force, who seeks to gain immortality in order to rule the entire universe.
He is voiced by Martin "LittleKuriboh" Billany.
Personality[]
Much like any other character from an abridged series, this version of Freeza is slightly less serious, and a bit more comical than his main universe counterpart. Freeza largely employs black comedy into his rap sheet constantly making jokes about how many species he's killed, killing his henchman left and right, and his utter ownage of Krillin. His xenophobic tendencies are also heavily exaggerated from his main counterpart's characterization as he is much more open regarding his hatred towards the Saiyans. When called out as being a racist, Freeza denies it and states that he couldn't be a racist if the species in question didn't exist in the first place. He also has a mental list of heroic speeches that were given to him by his enemies.
Unlike his main counterpart, however, this version of Frieza does have a few noble traits in spite of the series making him more openly unpleasant. For example, during his fight with Goku, he laments about sending gifts to the dead Ginyu Force's family members. Furthermore, despite his racist nature, he refrains from making homophobic comments in front of Zarbon indicating that he draws the line at homophobic slurs.
Biography[]
Dragon Ball Z Abridged[]
Much like the canon counterpart not much is known of Freeza's life before the beginning of the series except that he destroyed Planet Vegeta due to fearing the legends of it birthing a warrior that'd end his reign of terror. Freeza has mentioned that he used to spare the children but after many attempted to kill him while growing up under his reign he now kills everyone who defies him regardless of age. By the time of his debut he's fought apparently many warriors to the point he as a hobby keeps track of their heroic speeches. Upon hearing that Namek had a Dragon Balls and that they could grant him immortality he went to make his wish a reality. Like his canon self, he also has a nasty temper and does not tolerate failure.
Upon arriving Freeza started to kill many tribes to retrieve the Dragon Ball they guarded should they show resistance. As the season went on Freeza killed some henchmen to get a point across that he will not tolerate failure. Eventually he is forced to summon the Ginyu Force to help deal with the heroes and retrieve the Dragon Balls. However after they are all stolen and most the Ginyu Force is killed he becomes angered and decides to deal with the heroes by himself.
Upon confronting the Z Fighters, he goes into his second form and stabs Krillin. However, his tail is cut off due to Krillin being healed by Dende along with the rest of the group. He kills Dende upon changing into his fourth form. As Vegeta boasts about being a Super Saiyan, Freeza scoffs and proceeds to beat him up. Soon, Goku arrives and proves himself so dense that Freeza finds himself unable to comprehend him. Then Vegeta starts boasting about Goku being a Super Saiyan, prompting Freeza to blast a hole in him to shut him up for good.
Freeza engages Goku in battle, holding the upper hand for most of the fight, prompting Goku to use the Spirit Bomb. At first, Freeza is confused by why Goku stopped fighting back, but he soon notices the incomplete spirit bomb and realizes what Goku's plan is. Before he can finish Goku off and stop the attack, Piccolo jumps in and keeps him distracted long enough for Goku to finish charging it. Despite being struck head-on, he survives the attack and proceeds to shoot piccolo. As Krillin expresses relief over not being the one targeted, Freeza then turns his attention toward him for cutting off his tail earlier. Killing Krillin enrages Goku into becoming a Super Saiyan.
Infuriated by this turn of events, Freeza attempts to blow up the planet to kill everybody. He fails as his stress causes him to not properly cause the planet to blow immediately. With this, he trick Goku into letting him power up to 100 percent. As they fight, Goku attempts to distract Freeza by pointing to a revived Porunga. Seeing the dragon, Freeza flies over in one last attempt to become immortal. However, Dende has already used the last wish to send everybody except Freeza and Goku to Earth.
Freeza continues to try and kill Goku, even after the Saiyan shows him mercy twice. It ends with him getting blown up. However, he survives and is rebuilt by his father. Determined to get revenge, Freeza immediately goes to earth only to be met with Trunks who reveals himself to also be a Super Saiyan, causing Freeza to go berserk before getting sliced to bits.
HFIL[]
Following his death by Trunks, he ends up in Hell where he is forced to take part in its rehabilitation program along with his father and his subordinates. There, he continues to instate his authority and cruelty with no intent to change.
Following Cell's arrival, Freeza makes it clear to the android how little he cares for him. At the sharing circle, Freeza makes an effort to gloss over the question of how he died. However, after belittling Cell over being killed by Gohan, Cell makes it clear that he knows exactly how the tyrant went out. Just before he could reveal who killed Freeza though, both of them are knocked out by Goz and Mez.
With this, the MCMs are brought in to play völkerball with Cell and Freeza as team captains. Freeza makes the first choice with Dodoria, only for Cell to counter-pick Zarbon. Freeza gets frustrated by that to the point that he kicks Guldo, prompting the ogres to consider him Freeza's second pick. Freeza chooses Recoome for his last teammate leaving Cell with Guru, who is brought in late.
As the game progresses, Recoome and Zarbon get eliminated. With this, Freeza then throw the ball at Cell, only to reveal to have put a spin on it and instead hit Raditz. However, the ball bounces off him and hits Dodoria, eliminating them both. Frustrated over Dodoria not dodging, he shows contempt toward being stuck with Guldo, prompting the time stopper to let himself be eliminated. With it down to him and Cell (Guru is still in but is asleep), Freeza proceeds to throw the ball, faking Cell out into putting his guard up only to throw the ball underneath, eliminating the bugman. With Guru as Cell's last teammate standing, Freeza thinks he has already won. However, upon throwing the ball, it gets stuck in Guru's gut which is counted as a catch, allowing Cell back into the game. Upon waking Guru up, the ball bounces out of him, hitting both Freeza and Cell, making Guru the winner.
Angered over this, Freeza walks away before being approached by Cell, whom he tells to get the gloating over with. He then makes it clear that he doesn't care if Cell tells everybody that he wasn't killed by Goku believing that nothing can be more embarrassing than being killed by Goku's kid. It is there that Cell reveals the time traveler who killed Freeza to be Vegeta's kid, putting the tyrant in a state of shock and horror. However, Cell then reveals he won't tell anyone, which only angers Freeza even more.
In the Christmas Special, Frieda plans on vanquishing Cell’s dorm until he decides to destroy clause and Hanz’s house much to their dismay.
Frieza along with The Villains would partake onto his Father King Cold’s tournament along with his brother Cooler who appeared.
