The Friends on the Other Side are a group of voodoo spirits who work with Dr. Facilier in the Character What franchise. They are the overarching antagonists from Disney's 2009 full-length animated feature film The Princess and the Frog, while they serve as minor antagonists in the Character What series. They are also former members of The Forces of Evil.
History[]
The Friends on the Other Friends are spirits from the voodoo realm and they are the reason for Dr. Facilier's dark voodoo magic and aiding the witch doctor in his evil plans in exchange for whatever debts he owes them. They gave Facilier a voodoo necklace to transform his client Lawrence into Prince Naveen, so he can have Lawrence to marry Eli La Bouff's daughter, Charlotte La Bouff as a way to obtain the La Bouff fortune. Though Facilier was afraid of his "friends", because he still owes a debt to them for giving him powers in the first place.
During half of the episode Princess and the Frog, Dr. Facilier bargains with the "Head Friend", that if they provide the shadow demons into helping him carrying out his plans, he would be able give them all of the souls of the New Orleans citizens as payment. Seeing a fair bargain, the Friends decides to released the shadow demons to help out Facilier in his villainous plot. However, Tiana smacked the necklace into pieces. This lead a panicked Facilier to be unable to keep his part of the bargain, as his friends arrive to claim the doctor's soul as punishment for failure. Now realizing that his friends are no longer on his side, Facilier fearfully begs they to give him more time, since he still has Naveen in captivity as frog. Despite his pleas, his friends remain unconvinced. His friends grab hold of his shadow and dragged him into the voodoo world, where his soul will be doomed to remain for the rest of eternality. The Friends on the Other Side return to their realm along with Facilier's soul and never return to the world of the living.
In a unknown point in time, Shadow Aaron made a deal with the Friends on the Other Side that if they aid him in his plans to destroy Shadow Joe, he would give souls they desired as payment.
In Character What: Revenge of Evil, Shadow Aaron summoned the "Head Friend" to released Dr. Facilier from the voodoo world so he can join Shadow Aaron's intergalactic empire to aid him in his plans to destroy Shadow Joe.
Following Dr. Facilier's release, The Friends of the Other Side continue to aid him in his plans to takeover New Orleans as long as he still promise to provide them with the souls that they desired or they will take him back to their world where he will remain in their realm forever.
Eventually, The Friends on the Other Side grow tired of Dr. Facilier's repeatedly failures and broken promises, so they decide to take him back to their world as punishment for being unable to keep his part of the bargain and presumably to never return to the world of the living ever again.
